Thu Oct 31 201322:14John Jenkins gets his extension Thursday
The Hawks exercised their third-year option on John Jenkins Thursday.
They just beat the deadline and the team will pay him a base salary of 1.3 million next season. Jenkins didn't get off the bench in Wednesday's game after playing 31 minutes in the preseason finale.

Tue Oct 22 201322:06John Jenkins quiet in preseason debut
John Jenkins made his season debut on Tuesday after missing time with a back injury and failed to score in 11 minutes.
Jenkins stock has taken a hit with Kyle Korver and DeMarre Carroll taking the starting wing spots in Atlanta, but Jenkins could come on once the season gets going. Just keep an eye on him on waivers in case he heats up at some point.

Tue Oct 22 201311:51John Jenkins (back) expected to play Tuesday
John Jenkins (back) is expected to return for Atlanta's preseason game on Tuesday.
Jenkins began the summer with a chance to earn the starting SG job, but Coach Mike Budenholzer has opted to start Kyle Korver at SG and DeMarre Carroll at SF instead. Jenkins' reserve guard minutes will be limited further when Lou Williams (knee) returns to action.

Sat Oct 12 201314:09John Jenkins (back) won't travel for game
John Jenkins (lower back) won't travel for Sunday's preseason game.
He doesn't sound like he's close to returning from his lower back pain. The Hawks have bumped Jenkins to the bench and he'll have a tough time providing fantasy value in standard leagues in that role.

Fri Oct 11 201316:31John Jenkins still doubtful for Sunday
John Jenkins (back) is doubtful to play in Sunday's preseason game.
He's still day-to-day and the probability of him missing regular-season action is growing. Jenkins should still be considered probable to start the year, but he lost a lot of his luster as a sleeper pick with Kyle Korver and DeMarre Carroll set to be the starters on the wings.

Thu Oct 10 201315:24John Jenkins still not practice on Thursday
John Jenkins (back) will not practice on Thursday.
He's been having problems with his back for over two months and doesn't have a timetable to return. The MRI on his back was negative, so we'd guess he'll be ready for the season. Jenkins should be in the rotation, but won't get a big enough piece of the scoring pie to matter in standard formats.

Tue Oct 8 201311:11John Jenkins (back) day-to-day after MRI
John Jenkins is day-to-day after a negative MRI result on his ailing back.
Jenkins isn't traveling with Atlanta for their first two preseason games, and there's added concern because he missed two months this season while recovering from a back injury. His day-to-day outlook is encouraging but his fantasy outlook has already dimmed with Kyle Korver starting at SG.

Sun Oct 6 201314:19John Jenkins to miss time with back spasms
John Jenkins is suffering from back spasms and will not make the trip for two preseason games.
He missed two months with a back injury and was declared healthy on September 30, so this appears to be an aggravation. Jenkins has reportedly been bumped to the bench in favor of starting wings Kyle Korver and DeMarre Carroll, so he's not worth targeting in standard leagues.

Mon Sep 30 201316:24John Jenkins healthy, ready for Hawks' camp
Hawks SG John Jenkins missed the past two months with a back injury, but he's now healthy and ready for training camp.
We never heard about Jenkins' back injury and it shouldn't limit him as he fights for the starting SG job in Atlanta. He shot just 37.6 percent during Summer League, on his way to averages of 18.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 0.6 steals per game. Fantasy owners should view him as a potential source of 3-pointers and steals in the final rounds.

Wed May 1 201317:19Jenkins, Mack, Scott to play on summer team
John Jenkins, Shelvin Mack and Mike Scott will play on the Hawks' summer league team.
While Mack is unlikely to usurp Jeff Teague at point guard, Jenkins and Scott could carve out meaningful roles next season depending on how the Hawks' offseason plays out. Lou Williams is recovering from ACL surgery and is unlikely to be ready for opening night. Even if Williams is ready, he might be a better fit as Atlanta's sixth man, possibly giving Jenkins a chance at some solid minutes on the wing next season. As for Scott, his role likely depends on what happens with Josh Smith in free agency. Scott played well down the stretch and showed enough promise that he could figure prominently in the Hawks' rotation next season if Smith bolts Atlanta.

Thu Apr 18 201300:19John Jenkins plays well in start for Hawks
John Jenkins started and had 20 points, three boards, three assists and zero 3-pointers on 8-of-19 shooting in Wednesday's loss.
He was 0-for-6 from downtown but the Hawks got to take a good look at both Jenkins and fellow rookie Mike Scott over the past couple weeks, and both players looked good. Once the starters are all back in action on Sunday at Indiana for Game 1 of the playoffs, both rookies will likely return to bench roles for the Hawks.

Wed Apr 10 201322:23John Jenkins plays well off Hawks bench
John Jenkins played 33 minutes off the Hawks bench to finish with 21 points, six assists and three 3-pointers on 8-of-13 shooting in the Hawks' win.
He had his season high of 23 on Saturday when the Hawks sat the starters and was great again tonight. The Hawks playoff position is still not set, but even so, it would not be surprising to see Jenkins continue to get decent run the rest of the way.

Sat Apr 6 201323:17John Jenkins scores 23 points off ATL bench
John Jenkins returned from a concussion vs. the Spurs on Saturday, hitting 7-of-9 FGs and 6-of-6 FTs for a season-high 23 points.
He went 3-of-3 from downtown with four rebounds and four assists, a stellar performance that nobody could have seen coming, regardless of who was absent for the Hawks (the list includes Devin Harris and Kyle Korver). This eruption was encouraging for Jenkins' future, but we're not inclined to recommend him in the final week of the fantasy season.

Thu Apr 4 201312:09John Jenkins does light shooting on Thursday
John Jenkins (concussion) did some light shooting on Thursday.
It's not clear what his timetable is right now, but the fact he's doing some light shooting is a good sign his return shouldn't be too far away.

Wed Apr 3 201311:07John Jenkins still out of action on Wednesday
John Jenkins (concussion) will not play on Wednesday against the Knicks.
Jenkins will miss his third straight game and there is no timetable for his return. Shelvin Mack and DeShawn Stevenson are candidates to pick up a few extra minutes with Jenkins sidelined.

Sat Mar 30 201316:54John Jenkins out with a concussion Saturday
John Jenkins (mild concussion) will not play against the Magic on Saturday.
He sustained a concussion on Friday and the Hawks aren't going to bring him back until he's cleared all the medical tests. Shelvin Mack scored 12 points with nine assists on Friday, so he might be able to turn in another productive game. Obviously, this is deep league territory.

Fri Mar 29 201320:35John Jenkins suffers concussion, out for game
John Jenkins suffered a mild concussion in Friday's game against the Celtics and will not return.
He's been fairly productive for the Hawks as a backup guard. Jenkins shot a sterling 54 percent from the field in his previous 10 games for 7.2 points in 16.5 minutes. Shelvin Mack figures to pick up the slack and is only worth a look in very, very deep leagues.

Thu Mar 14 201300:07John Jenkins scores 12 points in 20 minutes
John Jenkins shot 4-of-8 from the field for 12 points with four boards, two assist and two 3-pointers in 20 minutes against the Lakers on Wednesday.
He shot the ball well and was a big contributor down the stretch. Jeff Teague doesn't figure to miss too much time, so there's not much incentive to pick up Jenkins.

Mon Jan 21 201317:33John Jenkins goes scoreless in first start
John Jenkins was held scoreless on 0-of-3 shooting in the rookie's first career start Monday.
Jenkins got the start alongside Jeff Teague with Devin Harris (ankle) and Lou Williams (torn ACL) sidelined. Despite the opportunity, the rookie played just 13 minutes and doesn't really deserve your attention in most formats.
