Wed Dec 7 201110:57Astros fielding interest for RHP Brett Myers
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe hears that the Astros have fielded interest from a few teams regarding the availability of Brett Myers.
Myers is due $11 million next season while his contract includes a $10 million club option for 2013 or a $3 million buyout. Cafardo hears that the Astros would likely have to pick up some of his salary in a potential deal. The 31-year-old right-hander posted a 4.46 ERA and 160/57 K/BB ratio over 216 innings this past season.

Fri Dec 2 201109:07Report: Astros shopping Wandy, Myers, Lee
Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that not only are the Astros shopping Wandy Rodriguez, but they've put Brett Myers and Carlos Lee on the trade block, as well.
It's pretty apparent that new owner Jim Crane wants to clean house. Even with teams desperate for starting pitching, the Astros aren't likely to get much prospect help in exchange for Rodriguez (due $36 million over the next three years if his 2014 option is picked up) or Myers (due $21 million through 2013), but they'd be happy just shedding the payroll. With an $18.5 million contract for 2012, Lee won't be dealt unless the 'Stros pick up a significant chunk of his salary.

Wed Sep 28 201122:43Brett Myers has rough final start
Brett Myers allowed seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits in five innings Wednesday, falling to 7-14 in Houston's 8-0 loss to the Cardinals.
Myers had some plays not made behind in the field this evening, but certainly didn't look like the pitcher that went 4-0 with a 1.23 ERA in his first four September starts. For the year, he'll finish with a 4.46 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 160/57 K/BB ratio compiled over 216 innings. Hardly on par with his rock solid 2010, though he was much better after the All-Star break, going 4-5 with a 3.94 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 76/20 K/BB ratio in 96 innings. He'll be overpaid at $11 million in 2012, but should still be a plenty serviceable arm.

Sun Sep 18 201118:40Myers solid again
Brett Myers was terrific again Sunday, holding the Cubs to two runs - one earned -- on seven hits and a walk over 7 2/3 innings in a 3-2 win.
Myers lucked out when umpires overruled a potential Carlos Pena homer in the eighth, giving him a double instead. Mark Melancon then came on to put out the fire. That's now five straight starts in which Myers has given up just one earned run, as he's managed to lower his ERA from 4.95 down to 4.39. He'll face the Rockies next weekend.

Wed Jul 27 201120:00Brett Myers says hammy is fine
Brett Myers was seen limping around the clubhouse Wednesday, but he said his strained right hamstring is fine.
Myers pitched a solid eight innings Tuesday and didn't appear to be favoring the hamstring at all. He should be fine for his next start, but it's worth keeping an eye on.

Sun Jul 10 201111:31Brett Myers to open second half for 'Stros
The Astros will start Brett Myers, Bud Norris, Wandy Rodriguez, Jordan Lyles and J.A. Happ in the first five games after the All-Star break.
It's telling, though not surprising given his struggles, that Happ was pushed back to the No. 5 spot. Management has said they've had no discussions about removing Happ from the rotation, but we can't imagine that his leash is terribly long even with the 'Stros lack of pitching depth.

Sat Jul 9 201121:47Myers allows six runs in loss to Marlins
Brett Myers allowed six earned runs in four-plus innings Saturday in a loss to the Marlins.
The Astros are now 31 games under .500 for the first time in 20 years. Myers walked four and yielded four hits in the shaky outing, and is now carrying a 4.88 ERA. Unless he's traded, he's not going to hold much fantasy value in the second half.

Mon Jul 4 201116:33Brett Myers gives up 13 hits in loss
Brett Myers gave up five runs -- four earned -- and 13 hits in six innings Monday in a loss to the Pirates.
Myers had turned in three straight quality starts, the last two coming against the Rangers, but he stumbled today. Everything he threw was in the strike zone, and most of it got hit. He finished the day with one strikeout and no walks. The 13 hits allowed were a new career high for him. He gave up 12 in a start April 7, 2010 versus the Giants.

Wed Jun 29 201123:13Brett Myers has another solid start
Brett Myers fell to 3-7 on Wednesday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk in seven innings of Houston's 3-2 loss to the Rangers.
He struck out four while allowing a pair of solo home runs to Ian Kinsler. After getting off to a rough start this season, Myers will finish June with a 3.73 ERA and 29/8 K/BB ratio in 41 innings of work. He's an excellent flier to take if he's on your league's waiver wire.

Wed Jun 22 201123:27Brett Myers takes no-decision
Brett Myers allowed two runs on six hits and two walks in six innings of work on Wednesday evening, taking a no-decision in Houston's 5-3 win over the Rangers.
Coming off a complete-game effort against the Dodgers, he struck out six. Just when it looked like Myers was set to be a no-go in mixed leagues this season, he's reeled off two straight solid outings. If a frustrated owner cut him loose, he's a solid flier to take.

Brett Myers pitched his first complete game of the year Friday in the Astros' 7-3 win over the Dodgers.
Myers pitched a four-hitter, and one of the three runs he allowed was unearned. Now only was it his first complete game, but it was the first time all year that he's pitched into the eighth inning. He won for just the third time and lowered his ERA to 4.75.

Tue Jun 14 201112:14Astros dismiss pitching coach Brad Arnsberg
The Astros have fired pitching coach Brad Arnsberg.
The reason given to the media was "philosophical differences." Arnsberg was hired before the start of the 2010 season and did a fairly decent job in his time with the Astros given the lack of overall talent. Houston is sinking fast and needed a scapegoat for their league-worst record. Doug Brocail was named interim pitching coach. This will be his first coaching gig.
