RHP Dominic Leone was called up from Triple-A Reno on Monday to add bullpen depth.

RHP Dominic Leone was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Monday in one of the Diamondbacks' first moves of the spring. He went a combined 0-5 with an 8.40 ERA in 13 relief appearances for Seattle and Arizona last year.

Leone was optioned to Double-A Mobile on Monday, Jack Magruder of The Sports Xchange reports.

The D-Backs called up Jarrod Saltalamacchia on Monday, so Leone will head back to Double-A to free up a spot on the 25-man roster. Leone appeared in two games after being called up on Tuesday (July 21). He allowed one hit and no earned runs in 1.2 innings Wednesday against Miami but gave up three earned runs on three hits Thursday against Milwaukee.

Leone gave up a three-run home run to Ryan Braun and struck out one in an inning of work Thursday against the Brewers.

This blow up followed Wednesday's game against the Marlins from which Leone was ejected for hitting Christian Yelich. The young righty hasn't performed very well in the majors, posting an ERA of 8.40 and 1.87 WHIP with nine strikeouts and walks in 15 innings over 13 appearances.

Leone was called up from Double-A Mobile on Tuesday, Nick Piecoro of AZCentral Sports reports.

Leone will take the spot of Danny Dorn, who was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday. Leone has appeared in only one major league game for the Diamondbacks this season since being acquired in early-June. In that lone appearance, Leone allowed three earned runs on four hits in one inning.

Leone was optioned to Double-A Mobile on Sunday to make room for David Hernandez, who was activated from the disabled list.

Leone made just one appearance for the D-Backs after being acquired from Seattle. Unfortunately, it was a rough one - he allowed three runs on four hits in just one inning, taking the loss against the Mets on Thursday. He will go back to the minors and try to improve his game after struggling at Triple-A and in the majors this year.

Leone was traded to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday in a six-player deal involving Mark Trumbo.

Leone has made 10 appearances for the Mariners this season, but owns an 0-4 record and 6.35 ERA. Perhaps a change of scenery is just what the right-hander needed, as he'll be one of the four players sent to Arizona in one of the most noteworthy trades to date this season. If he stays in the big leagues, Leone will likely be delegated to middle relief.

Leone was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Friday, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.

Leone will be up for his second stint with the major league club with James Paxton (finger) landing on the DL. However, the Mariners will need to create a spot on the roster next week for Paxton's replacement in the rotation -- who has not yet been named -- so Leone's stay may be short.

Leone didn't fair very well in his short time with the big league club, allowing a run in each of his last two appearances and five over 8.1 innings total. The 23-year-old will return to Triple-A and await another opportunity to rejoin the Mariners.

Leone gave up the game-winning home run Tuesday in the ninth inning at the Angels for his second consecutive walk-off loss.

Leone also gave up a walk-off single against the Astros in his last appearance. The Mariners shook up their bullpen recently and Leone could be next if he doesn't return to form. He's given up runs in four of his eight appearances this season.

Leone took the loss Monday in extra innings after giving up one run, one hit and two walks in 2.1 innings at the Dodgers.

Leone was called up earlier Monday and was pressed into action because the bullpen was depleted after consecutive extra-inning games. After two perfect innings, Leone tired in his third inning Monday. He gave up a leadoff double followed by two walks (one intentional) before he was pulled.

Leone was recalled to the major league team Monday, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Leone began the season with Triple-A Tacoma in a surprising move, but he'll come up as the club sent Tom Wilhelmsen to the disabled list. The 23-year-old struggled in the spring, but posted a 2.17 ERA and 9.5 K/9 in 57 big league appearances. He figures to slot in as a middle relief option and may need a strong showing to stay with the big league team once Wilhelmsen returns.

Leone was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday, Shannon Drayer of 710 AM ESPN Seattle reports.

This comes as somewhat of a surprise, because while Leone did struggle to a 12.86 ERA in nine Cactus League appearances, he was outstanding in a middle-relief role for Seattle last season (2.17 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 9.5 K/9 in 66.1 innings). It seems the team wants Leone, 23, to iron some things out and regain his confidence before entrusting him with any more big-league frames.

Leone earned his seventh relief win of the year Sunday against the Red Sox, stepping in and throwing 2.2 scoreless innings in relief of Hisashi Iwakuma.

Leone wasn't perfect - he allowed three walks over that span, but he stopped the bleeding on a day when Iwakuma just didn't have it. Overall, the Mariners' bullpen allowed just one run over 6.1 innings.
