Temple is likely being held out as a precaution, though it's worth noting that he dealt with hamstring issues late in the 2014-15 campaign. At this point, it's unclear how much time he could miss, but until the team issues a report, consider the veteran day-to-day.

Temple exercised his player option for the 2015-16 season, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Temple served as the replacement in the starting five when Bradley Beal was afflicted by injury but otherwise garnered little run in the backcourt rotation. In 18 starts last season, Temple averaged 7.2 points (on 37 percent shooting), 3.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.3 three-pointers in 26 minutes. However, he merely made 34 appearances the rest of the campaign, which signifies his role with the Wizards.

Temple posted averages of 3.9 points (40% FG, 38% 3Pt, 73% FT), 1.7 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.2 blocks in 14 minutes per game during52 regular season games in 2014-15.

The 29-year-old appeared in only four playoff games, putting up 1.8 points (17% FG, 0% 3Pt, 63% FT), 0.8 rebounds, 0.3 assists, and 0.5 steals in seven minutes per game. Following the Wizards' elimination, Temple said he's pretty sure he'll opt into his $1.1 million player option in 2015-16. Still, Ramon Sessions seemed to have a firm hold on the primary backup role, presumably leaving little time for Temple.
