Miami Marlins third baseman Martin Prado was removed from Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies because of a right shoulder sprain, according to the team's official website. Prado is considered day-to-day ahead of Monday's game against the New York Yankees.

Prado went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Friday's win over the Rockies.
Prado's fourth blast of the season came in the sixth inning against struggling hurler Kyle Kendrick to give the Marlins a 2-0 lead in the game. The veteran infielder is coming around after a slow start at the plate, posting a nice .294/.339/.448 slash line over the past 14 days. He'll continue to be a solid source of runs batting in the second spot in Miami's warming lineup.
Tue Jun 2 201513:17Prado 2-4 with double and single Monday in loss to Cubs
Prado went 2-for-4 with a double and a single Monday in a loss to the Cubs.
The Marlins continue to slide, as they simply cannot get anything going on offense. Prado has been their most consistent bat in recent weeks and he's slashing .317/.339/.417 over his past 14 games, but it comes with just four extra-base hits, three RBI and four runs scored. He's worked his way back into the second spot in the order, but Prado's value will be limited until Miami's big bats begin to drive in runs more consistently.

Prado knocked a walk-off single Saturday evening against the Orioles to snap the Marlins' eight-game skid.
It was his only hit in five trips to the plate, but Prado's single snapped 0-0 tie in the bottom of the 13th to send the home team off with a win. The veteran has been occupying the cleanup spot for the past week, and was able to make the Baltimore bullpen pay after they walked Giancarlo Stanton with runners on the corners with two outs in the inning. Overall, Prado has put together a bland .273/.310/.341 line over 176 at-bats this season and while he's hit in six straight games and 10 of his last 12 contests, the veteran has not collected an extra-base hit since May 9. The Marlins struggling offense could benefit from a more potent bat in the cleanup spot.
Thu May 21 201520:29Prado 3-5 with RBI in Thursday's loss to Diamondbacks
Prado went 3-for-5 with an RBI in Thursday's loss to the Diamondbacks.
Prado played for Arizona for much of the last two seasons, and he clearly enjoyed seeing the Diamondbacks again, as he hit safely in all four games of the series. He's batting cleanup now, which seems to be an arrangement the Marlins are going to roll with for a while. That should help Prado's RBI totals, but with his nonexistent power, he's obviously far from your prototypical cleanup hitter.
Sun May 3 201511:44Prado out of lineup Sunday against Phillies
Prado is out of the lineup Sunday against the Phillies, MLB.com reports.
Prado wasn't reported to be dealing with any sort of injury following his four-RBI game Saturday, so his absence from Sunday's lineup is presumably for rest-related reasons. In his stead, Reid Brignac will cover third base.

Prado went 2-for-3 Saturday with a walk, a double, a run scored, four RBI and his second home run of the season.
His .285/.327/.407 slash line is consistent with what Prado has produced over the last couple of seasons, but his 14 RBI in 24 games has him on pace to eclipse his previous career best of 82. As long as he keeps hitting between Dee Gordon and Giancarlo Stanton at the top of the Marlins' order, Prado will maintain solid value.

Prado had a big game Thursday in Philadelphia, going 3-for-5 with a double, four RBI and a run, keying a 9-1 win.
Prado's been racking up multi-hit games lately -- five in his last seven games -- and as a result, he's now pulled his batting average up to .300. Unfortunately, even if Prado can keep his average up, Prado offers minimal contributions in the power and speed departments, and thus his fantasy value will rely heavily on how effective the Marlins' offense can be (outside of Giancarlo Stanton) over the course of the season. He is hitting second right now, though, and owners won't complain about those extra at-bats.
Tue Apr 21 201516:06Prado will bat second Tuesday against Phillies
Prado will bat second Tuesday against the Phillies, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
Prado has fared well batting cleanup to this point (.826 OPS), but manager Mike Redmond will shake things up Tuesday and go with a more prototypical power bat in Mike Morse in the No. 4 spot. Christian Yelich will move from second to fifth, but it's uncertain if this is a permanent switch or an experimental move.

Prado went 2-for-4 and smacked his first home run of the season during Thursday's loss to the Mets.
Prado's solo shot in the top of the fourth gave Miami a three run cushion, but the team ultimately squandered the lead. The veteran infielder has spent the past couple of games batting out of the cleanup spot for the Marlins and registered five hits in his last 15 at-bats. Though he doesn't fit the mold of a typical cleanup hitter, Prado could easily top his career-best 82 RBI if he sticks near the heart of the lineup over the course of the season.

Prado was moved up to the cleanup spot for Monday's game against the Braves and responded with a 2-for-4 effort with a run scored during the loss.
Prado has been hitting fifth behind Mike Morse for much of the season, but Manager Mike Redmond flipped the pair with right-hander Shelby Miller on the mound in opposition. Prado's outlook would not change significantly if the move became permanent but a slight bump in volume could help pad his run production. The veteran has collected six hits in his first 24 at-bats this season.

Prado went 2-for-4 while batting fifth in the lineup for the Marlins in their Opening Day loss to Atlanta.
Marlins manager Mike Redmond elected to use Christian Yelich in the No. 2 spot, while Prado followed Giancarlo Stanton and Mike Morse in the heart of the order against Braves right-hander Julio Teheran. If that arrangement holds up, Prado should have a steady supply of RBI chances this season.

Prado went 1-for-3 with a single batting out of the cleanup spot in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals.
Though Prado does not provide the pop typical of a cleanup hitter, the Marlins proved last season with Casey McGehee that they are not overly committed to having a slugger in that role. Manager Mike Redmond continues to tinker with his lineup, giving Michael Morse some time in the fourth position as well, so it remains to be seen how things will shake out long term. Prado was phenomenal down the stretch for the Yankees before his season was ended due to injury and will look to carry that hot finish into 2015.

Prado (abdomen) will see some time batting out of the two-spot in the spring, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Manger Mike Redmond noted Thursday that he plans to mix and match with the middle of his batting order during spring training, shuffling Christian Yelich in the second and third spots. Prado, who has spent nearly half of his career plate appearances batting out of the two-hole, projects as a nice option there if Redmond decides to bat Yelich third and Giancarlo Stanton cleanup. Prado will likely see time batting lower in the order as well, behind sluggers Stanton, Marcel Ozuna and Mike Morse, which should provide ample opportunity to drive in runs. Regardless of where he bats, Prado is a nice addition to the Marlins lineup so long as he can carry his hot finish to 2014 into the coming season.
Fri Dec 19 201414:17Martin Prado: Traded To Yankees
Prado (abdomen) was traded to the Marlins on Friday, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.
Prado was traded to the Yankees in July last season, and is now on the move again. He finished the season on the disabled list after undergoing an emergency appendectomy in September. He finished the season with a .282/.321/.412 battling line with 12 home runs and 58 RBI. Prado will likely battle Casey McGehee for playing time at third base, and could see starts at different spots around the infield.
Tue Sep 16 201412:32Prado (abdomen) placed on 60-day DL on Tuesday
Prado (abdomen) was placed on the 60-day DL on Tuesday.
The move simply confirms that Prado, who underwent an appendectomy early Tuesday, will not return to the field in 2014. As a corresponding move, the Yankees purchased the contract of infielder Jose Pirela and added him to the active roster.
Tue Sep 16 201411:28Martin Prado: (Abdomen) Likely Done For Season
Prado is likely done for the season after undergoing an emergency appendectomy, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.
Losing Prado, who is hitting .433 in 30 August at-bats, is a tough blow, but as of Tuesday morning the Yankees are 6.0 games back in the race for the second AL Wild Card spot and stand little chance of making up that ground with only 13 games remaining. With Prado likely on the shelf for the next two weeks, Stephen Drew, Zelous Wheeler and Brendan Ryan could each see additional playing time.
Mon Sep 15 201408:35Prado 2-4 with solo home run in Sunday's 3-2 loss to Orioles
Prado went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Orioles.
Prado continued his strong month at the plate, as the versatile veteran is now batting .423 (11-for-26) with three homers through eight games to this point in September.
Fri Sep 12 201412:14Prado (hamstring) back in starting lineup Thursday
Prado (hamstring) is back in the starting lineup Thursday.
Prado hadn't started for three straight days, but he was able to enter the game Wednesday as a pinch hitter, hitting a two-run homer. The team may hold him out of the second game of their doubleheader Thursday, but at this point Prado seems to be healthy.
Thu Sep 11 201415:38Prado (hamstring) not in lineup Thursday against Rays
Prado (hamstring) is not in the lineup Thursday against the Rays.
Although Prado was able to take batting practice Wednesday, the hamstring injury is still hampering his effectiveness in the field, so he'll continue to remain out of the lineup until he demonstrates some more healing. Ichiro Suzuki will pick up another start in right field while Prado remains unavailable for the third straight game.
