Sat Oct 13 201204:21Gee struggling so far in the preseason
Alonzo Gee continued to struggle in Friday's preseason game against the Bulls, scoring two points on 1-of-3 shooting with six rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 25 minutes.
Beat writer Sam Amico wrote, "He needs to get it together. And fast." Currently projected to start at small forward, he is worth a look in the very late rounds of a 12-team draft, but owners want to make sure this is just rust and not a sign of things to come.

Mon Sep 17 201209:27Alonzo Gee penciled in as starting Cavs SF
Alonzo Gee is the "projected starter" at SF for the Cavs.
This is notable because it doesn't sound like free-agent pickup C.J. Miles is going to give Gee much competition for the starting nod. Gee just re-signed with the team, but he averaged 11.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 28 games as the starting SF last season and should have the upper hand going into training camp.

Mon Sep 10 201214:36Cavs retain Alonzo Gee w/ three-year deal
Cavs sign G/F Alonzo Gee.
The deal is believed to be worth three years, providing a happy ending to a drawn-out negotiation process. Gee is an intriguing fantasy sleeper if he beats out C.J. Miles for the starting SF job, though a minute-share could spoil the fun regardless of who starts. Gee averaged 10.6 points and 5.1 rebounds last year, both career highs.

Wed Aug 22 201209:57Cavs still hoping to re-sign Alonzo Gee
The Cavs are still hoping to re-sign restricted FA Alonzo Gee.
Gee's negotiations with the Cavs have dragged on forever, and GM Chris Grant revealed that the process "could take some time" to complete. If and when a deal is reached, Gee will likely battle C.J. Miles for the starting SF gig.

Tue Aug 21 201210:01Cavs, Alonzo Gee remain apart on new deal
The Cavs and restricted FA Alonzo Gee "are not especially close" on a new deal, a source tells Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio.
There was a previous report that the two sides were nearing agreement on a three-year deal worth about $10 million, but we've now seen that shot down by multiple Cavs beat writers. Amico adds that if the two sides find common ground on a deal, it is unlikely to happen much before training camp begins.

Sun Aug 19 201218:47Cavs still don't have a deal in place for Gee
Updating a previous item, Alonzo Gee and the Cavaliers have not agreed to a deal, the Plain Dealer reports.
There was a report yesterday that had Gee and the Cavs close to a three-year, $9.8 million, but it sounds like Gee is looking to get a little more. The Alabama product had his minutes per game shoot up to 29.8 and he would figure to be a key part of Cleveland's rotation once again.

Sat Aug 18 201209:27Cavs, Alonzo Gee nearing 3-year contract
The Cavaliers and Alonzo Gee are reportedly "nearing" agreement on a contract worth $10 million over three years.
Gee has been reluctant to accept the offer, but he didn't draw much interest as a restricted FA and would either have to accept this deal or a one-year qualifying offer. Assuming he signs, it's a nice affordable pickup for the Cavs -- Gee averaged 10.6 points and 5.1 rebounds last season, and his role should continue to increase.

Fri Aug 10 201208:54Report: Cavs have 3-year offer out to Gee
The Cavs reportedly have a three-year offer on the table to restricted FA Alonzo Gee.
There have been a handful of reports that indicated Gee would just sign his qualifying contract offer and become an unrestricted free agent next season if the two sides can't agree to a deal. The swingman must not like the value of the three-year offer if he hasn't signed yet, but as a restricted free agent without an offer sheet from another team, he doesn't have much leverage in negotiations.

Thu Aug 9 201208:50Cavs signing Miles doesn't mean Gee is gone
C.J. Miles signing with the Cavs "doesn't preclude" the Cavs from re-signing restricted FA Alonzo Gee.
We've heard this previously, but it's further confirmation that the Cavs are open to bringing back Gee for next season. At this point, the wide expectation is for Gee to simply sign his $2.7 million qualifying contract offer and become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

Mon Aug 6 201209:13Report: Gee could accept qualifying offer
According to beat writer Bob Finnan, "many expect" restricted FA Alonzo Gee to sign his $2.7 million qualifying contract offer.
Gee hasn't received an offer sheet from another team to date, and it's hard to envision a scenario where a team decides to do so at this point. It was previously rumored that Gee could simply sign his qualifying offer to hit unrestricted free agency in 2013, and it sounds like he'll likely do exactly that. Finnan also added that if Gee does come back to Cleveland, he will "probably" start at small forward.

Fri Jul 27 201208:22Gee could accept qualifying contract offer
Alonzo Gee's agent, Andre Buck, said that his client may accept the qualifying contract offer extended by the Cavs.
Gee, a restricted free agent, hasn't received an offer sheet to date, and at this juncture it's very possible he could simply accept the qualifying offer to hit unrestricted free agency next season. "I don't see accepting the qualifying offer as a bad option for Alonzo," said Buck.

Thu Jul 26 201214:43Alonzo Gee wants to stay in Cleveland
Free agent Alonzo Gee said recently that he wants to sign with Cleveland.
"This is where I want to be," he wrote. Gee was reportedly upset that the Cavaliers didn't offer more than a qualifying offer, but he also probably wasn't counting on not drawing much interest from other teams. And since no other teams appear to be after Gee, he's changing his tune and trying to sweet talk the Cavs into a little more money. But as of now, it appears that there's a good chance he'll return to the Cavs this season.

Wed Jul 25 201208:45Report: Cavs, Gee not close on new deal
The Cavs and restricted FA Alonzo Gee are "not close" to a new deal, according to Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio.
We noted earlier this week that Gee had not received any offer sheets and could simply accept the team's qualifying contract offer, but it sounds as if the Cavs are now prepared to explore other options with the news that C.J. Miles will be visiting with the team this week. If the Cavs rescinded their qualifying offer to Gee, he'd become an unrestricted free agent immediately and would undoubtedly draw more interest.

Mon Jul 23 201209:01RFA Alonzo Gee playing the waiting game
Restricted FA Alonzo Gee has not received any offer sheets.
The reason for the lack of interest in Gee isn't because teams aren't interested, but rather due to the fact that the Cavs are expected to match any reasonable offer. A source told the News-Herald that the Cavs could look to sign Gee "on the cheap," but the RFA may simply accept the qualifying contract offer and become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

Thu Jul 5 201217:30Alonzo Gee underwhelmed by qualifying offer
Restricted free agent SF Alonzo Gee does not appear to be thrilled by the qualifying offer he was given by the Cavaliers and might skip Vegas Summer League because of it.
He hasn't even signed the offer yet, while teammate Semih Erden chose to play in Turkey instead, and Luke Harangody signed his offer. Chances are that Gee will be back with the Cavs this year, but it could be a rocky road until the season starts.

Sat Jun 30 201220:40Alonzo Gee gets $2.7 million restricted FA
Alonzo Gee will be a restricted FA after Cleveland gave him a $2.7 million qualifying offer.
The Cavs have been raving about Gee all year and have no intention of letting him leave as a FA, but he's sure to bring them a sizable offer sheet from another interested team. Odds are he'll remain in Cleveland and take on a bigger role than he had this year, when he posted 10.6 points and 5.1 rebounds in 29 minutes per game.

Fri Jun 29 201219:53Cavs make qualifying offer to Alonzo Gee
The Cavs made a qualifying offer to restricted FA Alonzo Gee on Friday.
"Certainly Alonzo is a primary target to return for us and he's a priority," GM Chris Grant said. "He did a fantastic job for us last year and continues to grow." Gee set career-highs with 10.6 points and 5.1 rebounds last season as a personal project for Byron Scott. Given the dearth of talent the Cavs have on the wings, we expect them to match any reasonable offer that they get.

Thu Jun 21 201213:16Report: Cavs to match any offer on Alonzo Gee
The Cavs plan to match any offer restricted free agent Alonzo Gee receives, sources tell Fox Sports Ohio.
Gee, 25, had a breakout season for the Cavs, averaging 10.6 points and 5.1 rebounds. However, Gee averaged 11.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 28 games as a starting small forward. He'll need to improve his efficiency to turn the corner as a player, but the Cavs realize the potential for Gee to be an asset to a young team that needs all the help it can get on the wing.

Mon Jun 4 201216:29Alonzo Gee emerging as a hot restricted FA
The Cavaliers can match any offer for restricted FA Alonzo Gee, who is drawing interest from the Suns, Wizards, Celtics and Rockets.
The Wolves and Pistons have also been mentioned as possible suitors for Gee, but the Cavs are in the driver's seat. He averaged 10.6 points and 5.1 rebounds this season, while playing solid defense, and at 25 years old he still has considerable upside. The biggest knock on Gee is his lack of offensive efficiency -- for his career, 62 percent of his FG attempts have been jump shots, which he's made at an 'effective FG percentage' of just 37.2 percent.

Mon Jun 4 201209:36Alonzo Gee connected to Suns once again
Restricted free agent Alonzo Gee is once again drawing interest from the Suns.
A report in early May had Gee drawing interest from the Suns, and now one source tells the News-Herald that Phoenix may be willing to give the swingman a four-year commitment worth $16 million. Gee found success in a starting role for Cleveland this season, averaging 11.6 points and 6.2 rebounds over 31 games.
