Adam Moore played catch Monday for the first time since tearing his medial meniscus in April.
Moore is scheduled to begin a running program on July 5, which will provide the first true test for his surgically-repaired right knee. The Mariners have pretty much ruled the catcher out for the 2011 regular season.

Tue Apr 12 201120:31Adam Moore out 4-6 months
Dr. Ed Khalfayan found an "extensive tear" in Adam Moore's medial meniscus during surgery, and the catcher is expected to be sidelined 4-6 months.
In other words, there's a good chance he won't be back at all this season. The Mariners will go with a catching duo of Miguel Olivo and Chris Gimenez, though Josh Bard could also factor into things at some point.

Tue Mar 22 201122:50M's keeping Moore over Bard
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com hears that the Mariners will keep Adam Moore over Josh Bard behind the plate.
Moore went 1-for-2 with a walk and run scored in Tuesday's game and is batting .381 with two doubles, a triple and three RBI over 21 at-bats this spring. With Miguel Olivo still working his way back from a groin injury, it's possible he share duties behind the plate once the season begins. The 26-year-old backstop has enjoyed success in the minors, but owns a .197/.232/.294 batting line and 70/8 K/BB ratio over 242 plate appearances in the majors.

Thu Dec 9 201018:02Moore expected Mariners to add catcher
Adam Moore said it was "obvious (the Mariners) had to do something" at catcher because "none of us -- myself included -- were able to hit" this past season.
Moore was going to be the starter behind the plate before Miguel Olivo was signed, but he's now slated for backup duty. "I don't believe they've given up on me," said Moore, who will turn 27 in May. "I just have to earn it. They aren't going to just give it to me." Moore has hit in the minors but holds a .197/.232/.294 batting line 228 at-bats with the Mariners.

Tue Aug 3 201013:13Mariners recall Adam Moore from Triple-A
Mariners recalled C Adam Moore from Triple-A Tacoma.
Moore, 26, has delivered a .321/.359/.463 batting line for Triple-A Tacoma since the M's demoted him on June 25. If he can transfer even a little bit of that success to the majors, Seattle's starting catcher job could be his. After all, usual starter Rob Johnson has been optioned to Triple-A and Josh Bard isn't exactly lighting up the scoreboard.

Adam Moore (leg) went 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday.
Moore has been out since early May with a knee injury, but looks to be nearly back to form now. The Mariners would love to get this kind of production from their catcher on any sort of regular basis; catchers for the Mariners are hitting just .218/.294/.356 this season. Eliezar Alfonzo has played well over his seven games behind the plate, but Moore will almost certainly resume starting when he's activated.
