The Rays, Brewers and Pirates are in on James Loney, a source tells Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com.
Rubin hears those three teams are in the heaviest on the 29-year-old, with the Rays and Brewers potentially resorting to dealing for Ike Davis should they miss out on Loney. Rubin also says Loney is still looking for a three-year deal -- it was previously reported he wanted between $27 and $30 million -- but that he's unlikely to get anything over two years. Loney is looking like the next domino to fall in the free agent first baseman market.

Fri Oct 11 201310:44Rays want to bring back James Loney
The Rays are interested in re-signing impending free agent James Loney.

He'll obviously be wanting a raise, but the market still doesn't figure to be too robust for him, leaving the door open for the Rays to bring him back.

Fri Jul 26 201323:17Loney homers, drives in four runs in win
James Loney went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in a win over the Yankees on Friday.
Loney had an RBI single in the fifth inning and a three-run blast in the seventh. The 29-year-old appeared to be coming back down to Earth not too long ago, but he's hitting .372 over his last 26 games. Don't expect much in the way of power production, but Loney is a perfectly useful option out of a corner infielder (CI) spot in mixed fantasy leagues.
