Jankowski was poised to be a fourth outfielder and defensive replacement.Wil Myers, Franmil Reyes, Hunter Renfroe and Manuel Margot were expected to break camp in the outfield, and Franchy Cordero could take Jankowski's place as a versatile left-handed bat.Jankowski missed almost all of 2017 with a broken bone in his right foot. SAN DIEGO (AP) — Wil Myers said Saturday he's moving back to the rebuilding Padres' crowded outfield, indicating that San Diego likely is still in the market for a third baseman.Myers said the decision to switch positions yet again was made during a recent discussion with general manager A.J. Preller and manager Andy Green."It was more of a group decision," Myers said at FanFest. "I did tell them I want to do what's best for the team going forward. Obviously, I want to win and whatever we can do to do that, I'm down for. ... I feel like both sides are happy."Neither Preller nor Green immediately responded to requests for comment.Myers played outfield in 2015 after being acquired in a three-team trade. SAN DIEGO (AP) — The Padres agreed to one-year contracts with their three remaining arbitration-eligible players: closer Kirby Yates, catcher Austin Hedges and left-hander Robbie Erlin.Yates agreed Friday to a deal for $3,062,500, Hedges for $2.06 million and Erlin for $1.45 million.Yates took over as closer after All-Star Brad Hand was traded to Cleveland. Yates finished with 12 saves and a 2.14 ERA while going 3-5.Erlin was 4-7 with a 4.21 ERA in 39 appearances, including 12 starts. The top 22 percent of players by service time with at least two years but less than three are eligible for arbitration as long as they had at least 86 days this year.
