Aaron Cook left Tuesday's start after four innings with neck spasms.
He allowed four runs on five hits -- including a Ryan Howard home run -- and a walk before exiting. Sat Jul 23 201101:29Aaron Cook notches first victory
Aaron Cook finally picked up his first win after allowing four runs in six-plus innings Friday against the Diamondbacks.
A two-run rally in the top of the seventh gave the Rockies a 5-4 lead and put Cook in position to claim the win. Cook also helped his own cause before that, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. At 1-5 with a 5.84 ERA, his rotation spot is hanging by a thread, but this won't hurt.

Wed Jul 6 201122:45Aaron Cook lit up yet again
Aaron Cook got lit up by the Braves on Wednesday evening, allowing seven runs on 10 hits and one walk in five innings of a 9-1 Rockies loss.
The ugly outing drops Cook to 0-4 through his first six starts while ballooning his ERA to 5.82 and WHIP to 1.76. Through 34 innings of work, he is the owner of a pathetic 13/14 K/BB ratio. He's not worth owning in NL-only leagues.

Thu Jun 30 201119:00Aaron Cook goes six solid innings
Aaron Cook surrendered one run and five hits in six innings Thursday in a no-decision versus the White Sox.
The bullpen blew a three-run lead, so Cook remains winless in five starts since coming off the DL. Still, this was a solid effort that should provide him with a little more job security. His ERA stands at 4.66.

Sat Jun 25 201110:18Cook, Nicasio battling to stay in rotation?
The Rockies are expected to target a starting pitcher before the trade deadline, so Aaron Cook and Juan Nicasio could be fighting over their next few starts to stay in the rotation.
Cook has struggled his his trademark sinker, posting a 4.67 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in three starts, while Nicasio has lost the feel for his changeup and was knocked around his last time out. It's not clear who the Rockies might target via trade, but Troy Renck of the Denver Post mentions the Astros' Wandy Rodriguez and Brett Myers, the Cubs' Carlos Zambrano and the Marlins' Anibal Sanchez as possibilities.

Tue Jun 14 201100:56Aaron Cook has decent night
Aaron Cook allowed two runs on five hits and two walks in 5 2/3 innings on Monday evening, taking the loss in Colorado's 3-1 setback against the Padres.
Cook would have gone deeper in the game, but was pulled after a one hour and 23 minute rain delay. The owner of a 3.97 ERA and 1.50 WHIP through his first 11 1/3 innings of work this season, Cook isn't likely to be more than a spot-starting option for mixed-league players.

He struck out four in his 2011 debut. Coming off a rocky 2010 season, Cook is not worth a look outside of very deep NL-only leagues. His next start should come on Monday, where he will again face the Padres, this time in Colorado.

Wed Jun 8 201108:51Cook (finger) making debut Wednesday
Aaron Cook (finger) will make his season debut Wednesday against the Padres.
Cook has been sidelined since fracturing the ring finger on his throwing hand during spring training. "It'll be a Major League game, so there'll probably be a little more energy," said Cook. "I guess fortunately and unfortunately, I've come off the DL in the middle of the season before, so I know what to expect. I've been through it. I'm looking to not do too much, just be myself." Factoring in his past success at PETCO Park (7-1, 2.21 ERA over 11 starts) and the awful Padres' lineup, he could be worth rolling the dice in deeper formats.

Mon May 30 201118:44Cook (finger) to make another rehab start
Aaron Cook (finger) will make another minor league rehab start Thursday with Triple-A Colorado Springs.
The Rockies expected to activate him from the disabled list this week, but Juan Nicasio's strong start against the Cardinals on Saturday has caused them to reconsider. Cook gave up six runs over 7 2/3 innings during his last rehab start, so he could probably use the extra work, anyway. If all goes well, Cook will return next Thursday against the Padres.

Aaron Cook (finger) allowed six runs on eight hits over 7 2/3 innings Saturday in his final rehab start for Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Despite the less than ideal results, the Rockies are pleased with how Cook threw the ball. "He threw some quality pitches down in the zone," Sky Sox manager Stu Cole said of Cook. "He looked pretty sharp. He's getting back to the form he had before. He got groundball outs after groundball outs." Cook will rejoin the Rockies rotation this week.
