Vogelsong will start Game 4 of the World Series against the Royals next Saturday, Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
The Cardinals knocked Vogelsong around to the tune of four earned runs over three innings in Game 4 of the NLCS, but Yusmeiro Petit kept the Giants in it with three shutout innings and ultimately earned the win. Manager Bruce Bochy will stick with the same rotation in the World Series, with the mindset that Petit is more valuable as a long man out of the bullpen.

Vogelsong (8-13) gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits over 5.1 innings pitched against the Padres on Friday night while taking the loss.
You never want to back into the playoffs as the Giants have this season, so winning games is key right now; however, Vogelsong did not have his best stuff on Friday as he gave up a chunk of runs in the sixth to Padres hitters. Vogelsong ends the regular season with a 4.00 ERA and may not see a start in the playoffs.

Vogelsong allowed two earned runs on four hits and a walk while striking out five in five innings in the Giants' 8-2 loss to the Padres on Sunday.
Vogelsong has been extremely up-and-down in September, allowing as much as eight runs and as few as none. The one walk was promising, as he allowed 11 in the previous three games. He'll be back on the mound Friday against the same team.

Vogelsong allowed four runs on six hits with four walks and five strikeouts Monday in a loss to the Diamondbacks.
All of the damage was done by a Mark Trumbo grand slam in the third innings. It was the first grand slam allowed by Vogelsong in his career spanning 230 appearances. The right-hander will take the hill Sunday versus a weak San Diego lineup.

Vogelsong threw a two-hitter over 6.2 innings in a victory over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday while walking five and striking out three.
Vogelsong recovered from a 30-pitch second inning where he stranded the bases loaded, to retire 14 of the final 15 batters he faced. The right-hander has earned a reputation as a batter and that was on display Wednesday night for the Giants who are in a pennant race with the rival Dodgers. Vogelsong will face the Diamondback on the road in his next turn.

Vogelsong gave up eight runs on 10 hits -- including four home runs -- over five innings in his start against the Rockies on Wednesday.
Not surprisingly, Vogelsong was roughed up at Coors in a difficult road matchup. Even in less challenging road environments, Vogelsong has scuffled this season. Prior to the meltdown Wednesday, Vogelsong carried a 4.43 road ERA this season. He'll look to turn things around at home against the D-backs on September 10.

Vogelsong struck out seven and walked one while holding the Brewers to two runs on four hits over seven innings in a winning effort Friday night.

Vogelsong allowed three runs on four hits and four walks over 5.1 innings Sunday against the Nationals.
Vogelsong received a no decision despite leaving the game with the lead. His bullpen didn't do him any favors, allowing 11 runs over the remaining 2.2 innings they pitched. The outing leaves his ERA at 3.78 for the season, a number he will look to improve on when he next takes the mound against the Brewers on Friday.

Vogelsong (7-9) took the loss in Tuesday's rain-shortened game against the Cubs, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk over four frames.
Vogelsong put himself in an early hole by serving up a two-run homer to Anthony Rizzo, and an unplayable field following a four-hour, 34-minute rain delay in the top of the fifth prevented the Giants from mounting a comeback. Though circumstances outside of his control prevented him from doing so, Vogelsong's streak of three consecutive quality starts came to an end Tuesday.

Vogelsong pitched seven quality innings, allowing just two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out five batters in picking up a no-decision in Tuesday's loss to the White Sox.
After a so-so July and not winning a game the whole month, Vogelsong has settled into a groove in August. In three August starts, Vogelsong is 2-0, while allowing just four runs in 22 innings pitched. He now has a 3.71 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 114:37 K:BB ratio in 140.2 innings pitched this year. Vogelsong's next start is scheduled for Tuesday on the road against the Cubs.

Vogelsong (7-8) picked up his seventh win of the season Wednesday against the Brewers, giving up a run on seven hits and a walk while striking out three over six innings.
The only blemish for Vogelsong was a leadoff home run by Carlos Gomez in the bottom of the first inning. The right-hander has thrown two very good starts in August after going 0-4 with a 4.55 ERA and .308 batting average against in July. Vogelsong will try to keep it going Tuesday at home versus the White Sox.

Vogelsong was brilliant Friday night versus the Mets, giving up just one run on two hits and a walk while striking out five in a complete-game victory.
Continuing a run of strong work on the mound, Vogelsong turned in his best performance of the season Friday night. Over his last seven starts dating back to June 26, the veteran hurler has put up an impressive 2.95 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 35:5 K:BB ratio. Vogelsong is next scheduled to take the mound Wednesday in Milwaukee.
Mon Jul 21 201423:17Ryan Vogelsong gives up 11 hits to Phils
Ryan Vogelsong was pulled after allowing four runs -- three earned -- and 11 hits in three-plus innings Monday against the Phillies.
It was an odd night at the ballpark, with the Giants and Phillies combining for 29 hits, 26 of them singles. All 11 that Vogelsong allowed were one-base hits. He didn't walk anyone and he struck out three, but there just wasn't any escape for him tonight. He was mostly just fortunate to end up with his ERA relatively intact.

Tue Jul 8 201401:21Vogelsong gives up 3 runs in loss to the A's
Ryan Vogelsong served up three runs on five hits over 5 1/3 innings of a Monday loss to the A's.
Vogelsong struck out four and walked two. This loss continued an infuriatingly inconsistent season from the veteran, who posted a 5.40 ERA in April, a 2.29 ERA in May, a 5.08 ERA in June, and then pitched well in yielding two runs over seven innings in his first July start against the Cardinals. It all adds up to a 5-6 record and 3.92 ERA. Vogelsong takes on the Diamondbacks this weekend.

Thu Jul 3 201401:09Vogelsong pitches well in loss to the Cards
Ryan Vogelsong pitched well but was stuck with a loss on Wednesday, allowing two runs over seven innings while striking out eight Cardinals in a 2-0 setback.
Vogelsong limped out to a 5.40 ERA in April, had a superb May in which he went 3-1 with a 2.29 ERA, and then regressed in June to a 2-2 record and 5.08 ERA. He brought his good stuff to the park tonight, walking only one and holding St. Louis in the yard, but couldn't match Adam Wainwright. Despite Vogelsong's inconsistencies, he's collected a solid 3.86 ERA and 1.30 WHIP.

Fri Jun 27 201401:07Vogelsong pitches well in loss to the Reds
Ryan Vogelsong was stuck with an unfortunate loss after hurling six innings of one-run ball against the Reds on Thursday.
Vogelsong scattered five hits and didn't walk a batter, striking out seven. The veteran's success was a bit unexpected, as he came in a shaky 1-1 with a 7.31 ERA over his last three starts, the last two of which he failed to exceed five innings worked. That's the problem with Vogelsong, even when he's pitching as well as he has been in 2014: It's difficult to trust him start-to-start in mixed leagues. Vogelsong (5-4, 3.96 ERA) will stare down Cardinals' batters on Wednesday.

Tue Jun 10 201401:39Vogelsong's fun is over in ugly start vs. WAS
Ryan Vogelsong served up six runs on nine hits over six innings of a Monday loss to the Nationals.
Vogelsong, whose ugly career 8.74 ERA against Washington prior to tonight managed to get worse, punched out six and issued two free passes. He had been on a roll recently, entering this start 3-0 with a 2.05 ERA over his last four outings, having whiffed a career-high nine in his last game against the Reds. On the bright side, Vogelsong extended his streak of working at least six frames to nine straight outings. The veteran, now 4-3 with a 3.84 ERA, hosts Colorado on Saturday.

Wed Jun 4 201422:36Vogelsong gets win in strong outing vs. Reds
Ryan Vogelsong improved to 4-2, allowing two runs in 6 1/3 innings in Wednesday's win over the Reds.
Aside from a shaky third inning in which he allowed a solo home run to Todd Frazier and an RBI double to Jay Bruce, Vogelsong was strong. The right-hander allowed seven hits, walked one, and struck out nine. The 36-year-old has had a fine season, now sporting a 3.39 ERA with a 1.28 WHIP and a 60/23 K/BB ratio in 69 innings. Vogelsong will face the Nationals at home in his next start.
