McAllister owns a rough 5.63 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and 45/21 K/BB ratio in 54 1/3 innings (11 starts) this season for the Indians. The 26-year-old right-hander could get another shot at some point in the second half of 2014, but he is doubtful to hold fantasy relevance.

Indians optioned RHP Zach McAllister to Triple-A Columbus.
The Indians don't need a fifth starter for a while, so they'll keep McAllister stretched out at Triple-A while adding another arm to the bullpen in Vinnie Pestano. McAllister will be back before long.

Sun Jun 8 201413:58Zach McAllister expected back this week
Zach McAllister (back) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday.
If the outing goes well, he'll rejoin the Indians' rotation next weekend. House will be booted from the rotation when McAllister is ready.

Zach McAllister (back) will be cleared to begin a rehab assignment if he gets through a bullpen session Sunday with no issues.
McAllister threw a 60-pitch simulated game Friday with no apparent problems, so he's well on his way to rejoining the Indians' rotation. It will mean a demotion for T.J. House once McAllister is ready.

Wed May 28 201410:23Zach McAllister to throw to hitters Friday
Zach McAllister (back) will face hitters on Friday.
It will come after McAllister got through a 50-pitch bullpen session Monday with no issues. It's undecided whether Friday's session will be a simulated game or live batting practice, but it will be a nice step regardless. McAllister would seem to have a good shot to return around the time he's first eligible on June 6.

Wed May 21 201417:39Zach McAllister's struggles continue
Zach McAllister's slide continued Wednesday, as he was touched up for five runs - four earned - over just two innings before managing a no-decision in an 11-10 extra innings win over the Tigers.
McAllister permitted five hits - including a pair of homers - while walking two. The Indians wound up using nine pitchers on the day but pulled off the win in 13 inning on a walk-off balk. The big right-hander has hit a wall recently, giving up a whopping 18 runs - 17 earned - over his last 7 2/3 innings. His ERA has gone from 3.18 to 5.89 over that time. McAllister's rotation spot probably isn't in danger yet, but his leash can't be terribly long. He'll try to reverse the trend next week with starts against the White Sox and Rockies.

Mon May 5 201422:54Zach McAllister goes 6 2/3 scoreless
Zach McAllister struck out eight in 6 2/3 scoreless innings Monday against the Twins.
It was McAllister's fourth career eight-strikeout game. Oddly enough, the Indians have lost all four of those games. McAllister deserved better than a no-decision tonight, but the offense just hasn't gotten it going for him; the Indians have scored a total of 19 runs in his seven starts, including four in the last three.

Wed Apr 30 201422:33McAllister roughed up in start vs. Indians
Zach McAllister earned his second loss of the season in Wednesday's start against the Indians, allowing five runs (four earned) in 4 1/3 innings.
That makes it back-to-back outings for McAllister in which he has failed to pitch past the fifth inning. In Wednesday's start, he allowed four hits, walked four, and struck out five. He also allowed his first home run of the season, a two-run home run to Hank Conger in the second inning. McAllister will dust himself off and look for improvement in his next start against the Reds.

Tue Apr 29 201408:49McAllister to start Wednesday vs. Angels
Zach McAllister will start on three-days' rest for the first time in his career on Wednesday against the Angels.
He'll move up in the rotation to take the place of Carlos Carrasco, who has been moved to the bullpen. McAllister threw just 75 pitches in his most recent start on Saturday, so Indians manager Terry Francona is confident he'll be fine. The Indians are expected to call up either Trevor Bauer or Josh Tomlin next week to return to a standard five-man rotation.

Mon Apr 21 201422:31Zach McAllister pitches six innings in win
Zach McAllister pitched six innings and allowed three runs -- two earned -- Monday as the Indians edged the Royals 4-3.
McAllister moved to 3-0 this season. The Indians have won all four of his starts this year, plus his final three from last season, so he must be doing something right. That something is that he's gone 23 2/3 innings without allowing a homer this year.

Wed Apr 16 201423:32Zach McAllister beats Tigers for second win
Zach McAllister pitched six innings of one-run ball to beat the Tigers on Wednesday.
Looking solid once again this year, McAllister has allowed just one run in 13 2/3 innings over his last two starts. He doesn't really have an outpitch and his walk rate is nothing special, but he's 53 starts into his career with an ERA right at 4.00. He'll get the Royals next time out.

McAllister yielded just five hits and didn't walk anyone, throwing 99 pitches over the 7 2/3 innings. The right-hander was removed after back-to-back two-out singles in the eighth, and Cody Allen bailed him out with a strikeout. McAllister has a tough matchup next week in Detroit.

Sun Mar 23 201420:34Zach McAllister tagged for three runs in loss
Zach McAllister was tagged for three runs on six hits over his six innings of work in Sunday's Cactus League loss to the Angels.
McAllister walked one and struck out three on the afternoon. The 26-year-old hurler has struggled to the tune of a 6.06 ERA this spring, but still has a spot locked up in the Indians Opening Day rotation. He'll have one final Cactus League tuneup before taking the hill in the third regular season contest.
