Grady Sizemore met with Dr. Richard Steadman on Tuesday for a checkup on his knees.
"Grady's progressing well," said Indians general manager Chris Antonetti. The Indians recently re-signed Sizemore to a one-year, $5 million contract which carries an additional $4 million with incentives. The 29-year-old underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in October, but Antonetti.expects he will be fully recovered for the start of spring training.

Fri Nov 25 201109:22Grady Sizemore will be 100 percent in spring
Indians general manager Chris Antonetti expects Grady Sizemore to be fully recovered from knee surgery by the beginning of spring training.
Sizemore required arthroscopic procedure on his right knee in early October after a much more serious microfracture operation on his left knee the year before. "We don't expect Grady to play 150 to 160 games like he has in the past," said Antonetti. "But we expect him to play the vast majority of games next year." Sizemore re-upped with the Indians on a one-year deal Wednesday and is hoping a bounce-back season will net him a multi-year deal next offseason. "I don't think there's a day that goes by where I've ever thought I can't stay healthy for a year," he said.

Tue Nov 22 201112:26Tribe to announce new deal for Sizemore soon
According to Nick Camino of 1100 WTAM in Cleveland, the Indians will announce a new contract for outfielder Grady Sizemore "by tonight or tomorrow."
The Indians declined Sizemore's $8 million option for 2012 at the end of the 2011 season, but they'll bring him back on an incentive-driven one-year deal and hope that he can put his career on the right track. The 29-year-old outfielder posted a weak .706 OPS this past season and appeared in only 71 total games due to injuries. Still, he drew free agent interest from several teams.

Fri Nov 18 201122:02Deal between Indians, Sizemore will be done
According to Buster Olney of ESPN.com, a deal between the Indians and Grady Sizemore "will be done."
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reported early Friday evening that the two sides were having "serious discussions" about a one-year deal and that a contract could be finished sometime this weekend. Needless to say, this is a surprising turn of events after the Indians declined Sizemore's $8 million option late last month. It's unlikely they would be able to afford to keep him if he has a huge bounceback season in 2012, but they could dangle him as a valuable trade chip if they fall out of contention.

Fri Nov 18 201121:50Sizemore's agent confirms talks with Indians
Grady Sizemore's agent, Joe Urbon, confirmed to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com that he is having serious discussions with the Indians about a one-year contract.
"Grady has maintained that he would welcome a return to the Indians," said Urbon. "Our efforts right now are to see if we can make that happen." According to Rosenthal, Sizemore has pulled back from talks with other teams in order to get a deal done with the Indians and could make up his mind this weekend. Buster Olney and Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com have both confirmed that a deal is close.

Fri Nov 18 201119:34Indians, Grady Sizemore nearing new deal
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Indians and Grady Sizemore are having "serious discussions" about a one-year contract.
One source pegs the chances of a reunion at "70-30" while another tells Rosenthal that it's "very likely." The Indians declined Sizemore's $9 million club option late last month, so they would presumably attempt to work out a deal for lesser salary. The 29-year-old is drawing plenty of interest around the league, but it might be the best career move to stick with the organization (and perhaps more importantly, the medical staff) that knows him best and attempt to hit the free agent market again next offseason.

Wed Nov 16 201116:14Sizemore drawing interest from seven teams
Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com was told by a source that seven teams have interest in free agent outfielder Grady Sizemore.
The list of potential suitors includes the Giants, Rockies, Cubs, RedSox, Rangers, Mariners and Nationals. The Indians declined Sizemore's $9 million option last month, but Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com recently speculated that he will land a one-year contract at a similar salary. The 29-year-old has appeared in just 104 games over the past two seasons due to knee problems, but could prove to be a major bargain if he comes anywhere close to his previous production.

Tue Nov 15 201112:29Rockies to watch OF Sizemore work out soon
According to the Denver Post's Troy Renck, the Rockies will watch Grady Sizemore work out soon.
Sizemore has also drawn serious interest from the Red Sox and FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal suspects that he'll be able to find a one-year, $9 million free agent deal. That might be out of the Rockies' price range, but they're going to give him a look anyway and might even make a bid. The 29-year-old outfielder posted a weak .706 OPS this year and appeared in only 71 total games.

Mon Nov 14 201120:28TEX, NYY, CHC and SFG interested in Sizemore
According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com, the Rangers, Yankees, Cubs and Giants have expressed interest in free agent outfielder Grady Sizemore.
The Phillies, Red Sox, Indians and Rockies are also reportedly interested, so competition should be fierce in the coming days and weeks. The oft-injured 29-year-old is believed to be looking for a one-year deal in hopes of rebuilding his value and testing the free agent market again next offseason.

Thu Nov 10 201120:19Red Sox contact free agent OF Grady Sizemore
According to the Boston Herald's Mike Silverman, the Red Sox have contacted free agent Grady Sizemore.
Sizemore was made available to all major league teams after the Indians declined his $9 million option for 2012 on the last day of October. The 29-year-old outfielder posted an underwhelming .706 OPS this year and appeared in only 71 games, but he's likely to land a decent incentives-based contract.

Mon Nov 7 201108:44Sizemore could land one-year, $9M deal
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal thinks Grady Sizemore will land a one-year contract worth nearly $9 million.
That's the exact salary that Sizemore would have earned next season in Cleveland had the Indians not declined his 2012 club option. The 29-year-old posted a weak .706 OPS this year and appeared in only 71 total games, but enough high-revenue teams are interested in him as a high-risk, high-reward outfielder to drive up his asking price.

Tue Nov 1 201109:07Red Sox to 'explore' free agent OF Sizemore
According to the Boston Herald, the Red Sox plan to "explore" free agent outfielder Grady Sizemore.
Sizemore became a free agent Monday after the Indians officially declined his $9 million option for 2012. He's played in only 104 total games over the past two seasons, but several teams are expected to make him incentive-based offers this winter in an attempt to catch lighting in a bottle. The 29-year-old was an All-Star and MVP vote-getter from 2005-2008. The Red Sox are trying to fill a vacancy in right field.

Mon Oct 31 201111:20Indians decline Sizemore's $9M option for '12
Indians declined OF Grady Sizemore's $9 million option for 2012.
Not an unexpected move. Sizemore, 29, batted just .224/.285/.442 with 10 home runs and 32 RBI in 71 games this season. His health is unreliable, and there's no guarantee that he will ever return to All-Star form. But look for a number of teams to offer incentive-based bids.

Sat Oct 29 201115:25Indians expected to decline Sizemore's option
According to MLB.com's Jordan Bastian, the Indians are expected to decline Grady Sizemore's option and pick up the $7 million option on Fausto Carmona.
The Indians held strategy meetings earlier this week and may have concluded that the $9 million option on Sizemore was not an affordable risk, given the progression and versatility of Michael Brantley and Shin-Soo Choo. While Bastian cautions that nothing has been made official, it's an interesting turn as many believed he would ultimately be retained. Still only 29, Sizemore hit .224/.285/.422 with 10 homers in 268 at-bats last season. His health and durability have limited to just 210 games in the last three years combined.

Wed Oct 26 201119:58Indians meeting to discuss Sizemore, Carmona
The Indians are holding strategy meetings this week to decide whether or not they'll exercise the 2012 contract options on Grady Sizemore and Fausto Carmona.
Sizemore is the most pressing of the two decisions given the fact that he's eligible for free agency if the option isn't picked up, whereas Carmona would still be under control. At the center of the issue is Sizemore's health. While other teams will view him an attractive free-agent gamble, the Indians don't appear to have the payroll to carry him, plus a wing man, on their roster. If Sizemore does become a free agent he would not qualify for Type A or B status, so the Indians wouldn't be compensated with draft picks.

Thu Oct 6 201110:56Yanks, BoSox, Phils could go after Sizemore
Buster Olney of ESPN.com speculates that "large-market teams" like the Yankees, Red Sox and Phillies would have interest in Grady Sizemore as a free agent.
The Indians have until three days after the World Series to decide whether to pick up Sizemore's $9 million option for 2012. The 29-year-old batted just .224/.285/.422 with 10 homers, 32 RBI and zero stolen bases over 268 at-bats this season and just underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Monday, so it's not an easy call. However, a large-market team could gamble on the chance that he bounces back to the player he was in the past.

Tue Oct 4 201116:03Grady Sizemore undergoes right knee surgery
Grady Sizemore underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Monday in Colorado.
Sizemore had microfracture surgery on his left knee in June of 2010. While this procedure isn't nearly as serious, he will need 6-8 weeks of recovery time. The Indians have until three days after the World Series to decide whether to pick up his $9 million option for 2012.

Fri Sep 30 201121:53Indians considering options with Sizemore
The Indians are still undecided on whether to exercise the $9 million option on outfielder Grady Sizemore.
Per ESPN's Doug Mittler, the Indians may cut the cord on the relationship. If the option is declined, Sizemore would become a free agent, with several teams certain to show interest, including the Tigers, Dodgers, and Mariners. The Indians could also try and trade Sizemore to a club willing to take the chance on an outfielder that's played in just 104 games the past two years combined.

Sun Sep 25 201111:44Indians shut Grady Sizemore down for year
The Indians have shut Grady Sizemore down for the season.
Sizemore didn't aggravate any injuries, but the Tribe just want to be cautious with him over the final few games. "If we were a game behind the Tigers, it'd be a different story," GM Chris Antonetti said. Sizemore finishes a disappointing, injury-plagued season batting .224/.285/.422 with 10 homers, 32 RBI and zero stolen bases over 268 at-bats. It's fair to say he's probably not going to be the player he once was ever again.
