Wed Mar 9 201111:08Tyrus Thomas has setback, out on Wednesday
Tyrus Thomas has suffered a setback with his knee and will not make his return against the Bulls Wednesday.
There's no word yet on exactly what happened, but this is a major blow. Thomas was on the verge of a major role and was reportedly looking great in practice, but now we have to be concerned that his knee may not be right at all this year. If possible, owners should wait for a specific report on the severity before dropping Thomas.

Mon Mar 7 201111:27Tyrus Thomas to practice, may play Wednesday
Bobcats coach Paul Silas shared that Tyrus Thomas (knee) will be a participant in team practices on Tuesday and could return as early as Wednesday.
With Stephen Jackson hurting and other players struggling, the Bobcats are itching to see Thomas back in the lineup. We would still bet on him sitting Wednesday but Tuesday's practice will be a good indicator. Check back for updates.

Sun Mar 6 201123:51Earliest Tyrus Thomas will play is Friday?
Beat writer Rick Bonnell believes that the earliest Tyrus Thomas (knee) will play is Friday against the Blazers.
Thomas went through an extensive pregame workout last Friday, cutting laterally and reportedly jumping off his left knee just fine. He still needs to go through a full-contact practice with the team, something that will likely happen on Tuesday. Owners in deeper formats can make an add here as there is room for Tyrus to flex his shot-blocking prowess.

Thu Mar 3 201116:32Tyrus Thomas returns to a limited practice
Tyrus Thomas (knee) participated in the non-contract portion of Bobcats practice Thursday.
Thomas remains on schedule to return next week. Although a starting job likely isn't in the cards, Thomas could very well push for 28-30 minutes a night before long. Kwame Brown is playing poorly, Gerald Wallace is gone, Stephen Jackson's hamstring is acting up and Gerald Henderson is a wild car. Owners in need of blocks/steals should consider making a speculative add.

Wed Mar 2 201115:06Tyrus Thomas could practice fully Thursday
Bobcats coach Paul Silas is hoping that Tyrus Thomas (knee) will be cleared to practice fully on Thursday.
If everything goes as planned on Thursday, Thomas could be cleared to return to action next week. We still expect some vintage Tyrus inconsistency, but owners in need of a late-season boost in steals and blocks should consider stashing the high-upside forward now.

Mon Feb 28 201116:40Tyrus Thomas (knee) could play in two weeks
Tyrus Thomas (knee surgery) could begin practicing next week and return to action a week later.
Mid-March was the original timetable for his return, and it seems he is right on pace. Owners should keep a sharp eye on his progress -- with Gerald Wallace out of town he could be a nice pickup just in time for the fantasy playoffs.

Mon Feb 21 201121:27Silas targeting return for Tyrus in two weeks
Coach Paul Silas reported Monday that Tyrus Thomas (knee surgery) did some running today as he continues his rehab, and that he is shooting to return in "possibly two weeks."
This will surely stir some folks up but it's probably still too early to roster him. He had an eight-week timetable after surgery on Jan. 21, which would put him back on Mar. 18. Aside from Silas being an optimistic guy, the issue of Thomas' ability to get minutes and produce consistently are both drivers of our hesitancy to add him in most formats.
Fri Jan 21 201113:18Tyrus Thomas (knee) has surgery Friday
Tyrus Thomas had surgery on Friday to repair a torn lateral meniscus in his left knee.
Thomas will miss about eight weeks, leaving him just a handful of games at the end of the regular season. He is on crutches but will start rehabbing as soon as Monday -- unfortunately, he should be cut in all but the absolute deepest fantasy leagues.

Thu Jan 20 201120:32Tyrus Thomas out for 8 weeks with knee injury
Tyrus Thomas will be sidelined up to eight weeks after MRI revealed a tear of the lateral meniscus tonight.
This is devastating news for him, the Bobcats, and fantasy owners. Thomas played about 20 to 25 minutes a game, so wait and see how Coach Silas divides those minutes going forward. The Bobcats have a shockingly thin bench, and it is hard to see anyone emerging in Thomas's absence. Kwame Brown started on Thursday and might be worth a look, but he is not a must-own.

Thu Jan 20 201119:43Tyrus Thomas waiting on MRI for his knee
Tyrus Thomas and the Bobcats are awaiting the results of an MRI on his swollen left knee.
Thomas apparently woke up on Thursday and his knee was sore. It doesn't sound serious, and the results should be known on Friday. The Bobcats next game is at home against the Hawks on Saturday.

Thu Jan 20 201117:50Tyrus Thomas a late scratch with sore knee
Tyrus Thomas will not play in Thursday's game against the Sixers due to a sore left knee.
This one comes out of left field as Thomas played 22 minutes on Wednesday and looked healthy. He woke up from a nap and doesn't know how his knee got swollen. Still, Thomas hasn't been much more than a blocks specialist this season anyway. Over his last eight games, he's averaging 10.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.8 blocks. His injury does not appear to be serious.

Wed Jan 19 201100:43Tyrus returns from suspension, gets key block
Tyrus Thomas returned from his one-game suspension for a flagrant foul in Tuesday's win, and scored eight points on 3-of-8 shooting with two rebounds, one assist, two steals, and one block in 22 minutes off the bench.
Adding to the intrigue was the fact that the game was against his old Bulls team, and to add further mystery to what to make of this performance his block of Kyle Korver late essentially saved the game for the Bobcats. Owners definitely need to sit back and see how this pans out.
Mon Jan 17 201111:18Tyrus Thomas suspended on Monday for elbow
Tyrus Thomas has been suspended for Monday's game after intentionally elbowing Emeka Okafor in the head on Saturday.
We could see this one coming, as Thomas flashed his immaturity with a silly and dangerous move that almost automatically results in a suspension. Charlotte plays four times this week, which gives Thomas enough upside to still be worth using in many formats.

Sat Jan 15 201121:25Tyrus ejected for flagrant-2 elbow to head
Tyrus Thomas was ejected from Saturday's game against the Hornets after elbowing Emeka Okafor in the head in the game's final two minutes, and he finished with eight points on 2-of-6 shooting with four rebounds, no assists, a steal, and a block in just 19 minutes off the bench.
This might have actually surpassed owners' expectations for the cold, hard slap in the face they expected following an otherwise encouraging week for Thomas. Try not to overreact over his poor showing and probable suspension, as his four-game week most likely got shaved down to three.

Wed Jan 12 201122:32Ty Thomas double-doubles vs Bulls
Tyrus Thomas had 17 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks in 30 minutes against his former team (Bulls) on Wednesday.
More minutes please. Of course, he fouled out of Monday's game in just 17 minutes, but the Bobcats are 6-2 since firing Larry Brown, and Thomas has looked good. Hang onto him if you own him.
Mon Jan 10 201121:20Thomas posts active line in 17 minutes
Tyrus Thomas scored six points on 2-of-3 shooting with eight rebounds, one assist, one steal, and four blocks in just 17 minutes before fouling out in Monday's blowout win over the Grizzlies.
The game slowly got away from the Grizzlies, and it's doubtful that Thomas would have been as aggressive had the score been closer. That said, he's not doing himself any favors with owners by perpetuating the notion he can't stay in the game, despite the impressive per-minute numbers.
Sat Jan 8 201121:39Tyrus Thomas (flu) logs 31 minutes off bench
Tyrus Thomas (flu) fought his way to six points, four rebounds, and three blocks on Saturday, as Charlotte defeated the Wizards and moved their record to 13-21.
Thomas has always had sky-high fantasy potential, given enough playing time, but his maturity and questionable decision-making have held him back. He played 31 minutes and seems to have a longer leash under coach Paul Silas, but was slowed tonight by his recent illness.
Sat Jan 8 201117:44Tyrus Thomas will play despite flu
Tyrus Thomas will play on Saturday despite battling the flu.
Thomas might have a sluggish game, considering he's under the weather, or he might break out with Charlotte's frontcourt decimated by injuries. Fantasy owners might as well plug him into active lineups and find out.

Sat Jan 8 201111:55Tyrus Thomas (flu) might play Saturday
Tyrus Thomas (flu) sat out shootaround on Saturday but might still play in tonight's game.
Thomas said he had trouble eating for a few days, but coach Paul Silas was confident that he'll be ready. With Charlotte's roster thinned by injuries, the odds of Thomas playing (and producing) seem to improve a bit.
