Fri Jan 7 201113:12Tyrus Thomas (flu) questionable for Saturday
Tyrus Thomas did not practice on Friday because of the flu.
Just when it looks like Tyrus is ready to roll, the flu strikes him down. We're calling him questionable for Saturday's game vs. the Wizards -- there's a chance that Charlotte's trainers will hold him out even if he feels he can play.
Thu Jan 6 201100:00Ty Thomas finally gets burn for Bobcats
Tyrus Thomas came off the bench, despite a ridiculous list of Bobcat injuries, but played 36 minutes and had 21 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, a steal and two blocks on 10-of-18 shooting in Wednesday's OT win over the Wolves.
While indications were that he would play through his knee injury, it was tough getting confirmation before the game started. Hopefully you rolled the dice on him. He remains a must-start for as long as Gerald Wallace and Stephen Jackson are out, and maybe his coach figured out tonight that Thomas deserves to be in the game. He played very well down the stretch, as the Bobcats overccame an eight-point deficit to force OT and win.
Wed Jan 5 201120:09Thomas active, not starting for CHA
Tyrus Thomas is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday, but it does look like he's active.
We still haven't heard if he's playing through his knee injury, but indications are that he will.
Wed Jan 5 201114:00Tyrus Thomas a game-time call for Wednesday
Tyrus Thomas (knee tendinitis) is listed as a game-time call for Wednesday.
Tuesday's reports indicated that Thomas would play despite missing practice, but it looks like we'll have to wait until closer to tipoff to find out about his status. We'll post an update as soon as one becomes available.

Wed Jan 5 201105:09Tyrus, Nazr, Jackson all miss practice
Tyrus Thomas (wrist) missed practice on Tuesday, but is expected to play on Wednesday against the Wolves.
Nazr Mohammed (knee) and Stephen Jackson (knee) also missed practice, and neither have a timetable for their return, though Jackson appears to have a much better chance of playing Wednesday than Mohammed does. Thomas' owners can hang onto his wrist as an excuse for his poor play with the Bobcats so shorthanded, but soon that leeway will run out.

Mon Jan 3 201123:46Tyrus (wrist) role stays the same in return
Tyrus Thomas (wrist) returned to action on Monday, but played just 22 minutes despite the Bobcats being short-handed up front and finished with eight points on 4-of-14 shooting with five rebounds, one assist, and one block.
There are silver linings here, such as the 14 shot attempts that he is bound to improve upon and the fact that he is coming off injury, but make no mistake he'll start showing up on waiver wires after this. He deserves another game or two before we rule on his new situation, but the early returns look strangely familiar.
Mon Jan 3 201111:21Tyrus Thomas (wrist) back vs. Heat on Mon.
Bobcats forward Tyrus Thomas will return from his wrist injury vs. the Heat on Monday.
Thomas' role didn't increase in his first game under new coach Paul Silas, but ideally he'll start to earn more playing time. And with Gerald Wallace nursing a bruised ankle, Monday would be an ideal time for him to elevate his game.

Sun Jan 2 201114:51Tyrus Thomas practices Sunday
Tyrus Thomas (wrist) was a full participant for Sunday's practice.
Thomas had missed the previous two games with a sprained wrist. Check back for updates, but he's looking like he's likely to re-enter the rotation.

Fri Dec 31 201013:57Tyrus Thomas out Friday w/ wrist injury
Tyrus Thomas' wrist injury will sidelined him again on Friday.
Thomas remains day-to-day and his owners should be well practiced at remaining patient. The hope is that coach Paul Silas will give him more freedom (and minutes) in Charlotte's new up-tempo system.

Wed Dec 29 201018:07Tyrus Thomas out Wed. w/ right wrist injury
Tyrus Thomas has officially been ruled out for Wednesday's game due to a right wrist injury.
Fantasy owners were hoping to see Thomas finally break out under new coach Paul Silas -- it didn't happen in Silas' debut, and it won't happen tonight. He's just listed as day-to-day, however, and is worth holding while we watch his role develop.

Wed Dec 29 201011:12Thomas likely to sit Wednesday night
Tyrus Thomas (wrist) is not expected to play in Wednesday's game against the Cavs.
Thomas' right (shooting) wrist is bothering him and he had trouble getting shots up without pain at shootaround. He's not officially out, but he'll likely rest. It's bad timing for Thomas as he's trying to establish a role and trust with new coach Paul Silas. Consider Thomas day-to-day.

Tue Dec 28 201013:46Tyrus Thomas dealing with sore wrist
Tyrus Thomas is dealing with a sore wrist but is listed as probable for Wednesday's game against the Cavs.
Thomas sat out contact drills in Tuesday's practice. He got 22 minutes off the bench in new coach Paul Silas' debut Monday night and is a good bet to get at least that much burn Wednesday. The new pace suits Thomas well.

Mon Dec 27 201022:51Thomas looks good in Silas' debut
Tyrus Thomas looked good in Paul Silas' new uptempo gameplan even if the box score didn't reflect it, scoring 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting with four rebounds, two assists, six turnovers, one steal, and five blocks in the Bobcats' 105-100 win over the Pistons.
He was active and also had the go-ahead tip in crunch time, so we're calling this a win for him tonight. His mixed line tonight may not be fully appreciated by an owner only glancing at the box scores, creating a little bit of opportunity in a potential trade.
Wed Dec 22 201018:42Paul Silas named interim coach for Charlotte
Paul Silas will replace Larry Brown as the interim coach of the Bobcats.
This is a no-win job for Silas to take, but he could win over the hearts of fantasy owners if he shakes things up and starts Tyrus Thomas. Will he do it? We have no idea.
Tue Dec 21 201022:39Tyrus posts rough numbers vs. Thunder
Tyrus Thomas played his customary 20 minutes on Tuesday, and finished with five points on 2-of-9 shooting with two rebounds, one assists, one steal, and two blocks.
He entered tonight averaging 11.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 0.8 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game. In some formats, the blocks alone make him worth owning, but in other formats he is a roster stash at best. He is not undroppable by any means, and it may be better for your blood pressure to do so.
Tue Dec 21 201003:22Thomas plays just 20 minutes in blowout
Tyrus Thomas played just 20 minutes in Monday's blowout loss, scoring 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting with four rebounds and no blocks or steals.
It's worth pointing out that he has not topped 22 minutes since Nov. 24, and has done so just four times this season. Even in tonight's blowout, they appear to have him on a strict minute count for reasons unknown, and owners waiting for the breakout may want to hone in on what that reason may be. We certainly are.
Sat Dec 18 201000:00Ty Thomas buried on Cats bench again
Tyrus Thomas hit just 2-of-9 shots for seven points and eight rebounds in Friday's loss to the Hawks.
He played just 16 minutes as Boris Diaw took out some frustration on his former team. Thomas is still an intriguing fantasy player, and a Bobcats trade could set him free. But he's too risky to start in most fantasy leagues right now.
Fri Dec 17 201009:41Tyrus Thomas unlikely to be dealt
Tyrus Thomas is among the least likely players to be traded by the Bobcats, who have been surveying the league for potential deals.
As noted by beat writer Rick Bonnell, "The Bobcats are high on his prospects and his new contract makes him a base-year compensation player, an impediment to most trades." We've said this before, but perhaps a trade would finally allow Thomas to start playing big minutes.

Tue Dec 14 201022:37Tyrus (quad) returns to action with nice line
Tyrus Thomas (quad) returned to action with a nice line on Tuesday, scoring 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting with seven rebounds, one steal, and two blocks in 21 minutes.
These are the lines that make him feasible to own, though it's doubtful he was in too many lineups today for owners to benefit. He returns to being the high-upside, frustrating roller coaster ride he's always been until further notice.
Tue Dec 14 201017:14Tyrus Thomas will make his return tonight
Tyrus Thomas (quad) will play against the Raptors Tuesday night.
Thomas had missed the last two games. He'll come off the bench for his usual 16-20 minutes. Thomas is difficult to trust as anything more than a low-end blocks specialist unless he cracks the starting five.
