Fri Mar 23 201223:45Thomas, Brown post decent lines
Tyrus Thomas scored 10 points on 5-of-11 shooting with seven rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block in 26 minutes on Friday.
He's starting, but he puts up stinkers every other game and has disappointed owners for years. Derrick Brown also put up a decent line with 13 points, five rebounds, one steal, and one block in 29 minutes off the bench, and while he doesn't have a history of toying with owners' emotions he's also not to be trusted just yet.

Mon Mar 19 201222:41Tyrus Thomas struggles against the Sixers
Tyrus Thomas played just 15 minutes on Monday, scoring six points on 3-of-10 shooting with zero rebounds, one assist, and one block.
Games like these are prime examples of why Thomas cannot be trusted in fantasy leagues. Trust, as it turns out for fantasy owners, is probably way out of Thomas' reach.

Mon Mar 19 201211:40Tyrus Thomas playing with confidence
Coach Paul Silas praised Tyrus Thomas' recent energy level Sunday.
Thomas has started six straight games, but has been particularly effective in the last two. During that span, he's averaged 12.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and shot 61.5 percent from the field. "He's going to be here, so I want to get the most out of him," Silas said. "I want him to be positive, and he is right now." Thomas appears to have some leash here, putting him on the radar for deep-leaguers.

Thu Mar 15 201223:58Tyrus posts 14 points and eight assists
Tyrus Thomas scored 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting with eight rebounds, one assist, and no steals or blocks in 28 minutes against the Mavs on Thursday.
Thomas is still starting, but he has been far from consistent and this is his best line a while. Maybe he'll turn it on, but we've all been down this road and know where it ends.

Tue Mar 13 201201:06Thomas puts together sort-of good line
Tyrus Thomas started again on Monday, scoring four points on 2-of-8 shooting with seven rebounds, one steal, and two blocks in 20 minutes.
Thomas is averaging four points, four boards, 0.8 steals, and 0.8 blocks in his last four games, and needs to reproduce this line with improvements a number of times before we're interested.

Fri Mar 9 201222:09Thomas draws start, but does little with it
Tyrus Thomas started for the Bobcats on Friday night against the minutes, but played just 16 minutes on his way to six points and three rebounds.
We advised everyone to take a wait-and-see approach with Thomas, and this is why. Despite having a ton of talent, Thomas has never been able to do much with it on a consistent basis. While the starting role is a step in the right direction, he's going to need to put together a string of good games before we change our tune. Just monitor him for now.

Fri Mar 9 201219:19Tyrus Thomas starts for Bobcats Friday
Tyrus Thomas started for the Bobcats on Friday night.
Here we go again. Thomas has teased fantasy owners for years with his massive potential, but has never been able to put it all together. D.J. White was listed as the starter in the pre-game notes, so this comes as a surprise, especially since Thomas was a DNP-CD on Wednesday night. Let's see if he can do anything substantial with his role being increased once again.

Thu Mar 8 201211:07Tyrus Thomas picks up DNP-Coach's Decision
Tyrus Thomas was a DNP-Coach's Decision in Wednesday's loss to the Jazz.
Thomas has played less than 10 minutes in each of his three previous games before not getting off the bench last night. Owed a ridiculous $26 million over the next three seasons, Thomas is not relevant to fantasy owners.

Sun Feb 26 201212:25Tyrus Thomas a potential amnesty candidate
Tyrus Thomas is owed a guaranteed $26 million over the next three seasons, making him a possible amnesty candidate next summer.
Bobcats president Rod Higgins said that after the lockout, "[Thomas] came back physically looking totally different." Thomas lost about 15 pounds during the offseason, which might help some players (e.g. teammate Boris Diaw) but has made it difficult for Thomas to compete with the league's strong PFs.

Tue Feb 21 201215:26Silas: Thomas isn't playing well
Coach Paul Silas said Tyrus Thomas isn't getting minutes because "he's just not playing that well."
Over the last five games, Thomas is averaging just 9.6 minutes per game. Despite tantalizing athletic skills, the former No. 4 overall pick has shown few signs of "getting it" during his six-year career. A change of scenery at the trade deadline remains possible.

Sun Feb 19 201220:30Tyrus Thomas bottoming out in Charlotte
In his past two games, Tyrus Thomas has gone scoreless in a combined eight minutes of action.
No fantasy owners should still have him on their bench, as there's no sign of a bounce-back. In fantasy leagues, Thomas is still a starter on the All-Frustrating team.

Thu Feb 16 201202:51Thomas hits rock bottom in loss to Wolves
Tyrus Thomas played just 13 minutes on Wednesday, scoring four points on 2-of-4 shooting with no rebounds, one steal, and one block.
Thomas should have already been dropped, but if you were holding out hope this is your sign to cut bait.

Sat Feb 11 201221:55Tyrus Thomas plays just 18 minutes off bench
Moving back to a bench role, Tyrus Thomas made 5-of-6 shots but finished with just 11 points, five rebounds and two assists in 18 minutes.
Thomas was averaging under 27 minutes in his 18 starts this season, and has been predictably inconsistent. His minutes are likely to dip even further now that he and D.J. White are scrapping for minutes behind Boris Diaw, and unfortunately he looks very expendable in average leagues.

Fri Feb 10 201223:41Tyrus Thomas likely heading to the bench
Tyrus Thomas (eye) played on Friday, but struggled to score with just two points on 1-of-5 shooting and it sounds like he'll be heading to the bench soon.
Beat writer Rick Bonnell reported that Corey Maggette will be starting on Saturday against the Clippers, and guessed that Thomas will go back to the bench and backup the PF position. Thomas had three blocks, five boards, and a steal tonight in his 23 minutes, but if you were looking for an excuse to cut him this is it. Not being able to break through on an awful Bobcats team could be the most clear-cut indictment of his disappointing career.

Thu Feb 9 201214:03Tyrus Thomas misses practice with eye issue
Tyrus Thomas missed Thursday's practice due to an eye infection, but is expected to play Friday.
Thomas is just having an issue with his contact lens. The bigger concern for him is the impending returns of Corey Maggette and D.J. Augustin. With Reggie Williams playing well, Thomas' starting small forward job is in real jeopardy. He's shooting just 35.2 percent in his 17 starts this season.

Tue Feb 7 201222:12Tyrus Thomas awful in loss to Boston
Tyrus Thomas hit just 1-of-6 shots for two points, three rebounds and a block in 20 minutes of Tuesday's loss to the Celtics.
This is becoming a broken record, as Thomas hasn't looked great since he had 13 points, nine rebounds and nine blocks on Jan. 25. As usual, Thomas became a hot pick up, but has hit double figures in scoring just once since, and double figures in rebounding twice. He's blocked seven shots over his last six games, meaning he still has some value, but chances are you can find a more reliable player to put in your lineup on most nights.

Wed Feb 1 201202:14Ty Thomas disappears in loss to Lakers
Tyrus Thomas disappeared on Tuesday, finishing with six points, two boards, a steal and a block on 2-of-9 shooting in a blowout loss to the Lakers.
He played 28 minutes, but we have documented clearly the fact that he tends to disappear after teasing owners with big lines. Maybe he just struggled against Andrew Bynum and the Lakers, and will bounce back against the Blazers on Wednesday. He'll face his former teammate Gerald Wallace, and is worth starting again despite tonight's struggles. Thomas is averaging nine points, six boards, 1.6 steals and 2.8 blocks over his last five games, despite's Tuesday's struggles.

Sat Jan 28 201222:22Tyrus Thomas double-doubles in loss
Tyrus Thomas had 13 points and 10 rebounds on 6-of-12 shooting in 35 minutes of Saturday's loss to the Wizards.
He's played very well in three straight games and the minutes have been big. He somehow didn't have a steal of block tonight, but new owners of the erratic big man have to be pleased with tonight's results.

Wed Jan 25 201222:18Tyrus Thomas blocks nine shots for Bobcats
Tyrus Thomas exploded for 13 points, nine rebounds, four steals and a career-high nine blocked shots in Wednesday's ugly loss to the Wizards.
This is the game we've been waiting for from Thomas all season. He seems to do this a couple times a year, but has never managed to produce consistently, over the course of a season. And while chances are high that he will end up disappointing owners in the end, he simply has to be picked up in all leagues for now. He played 33 minutes, which he should continue to see regularly for coach Paul Silas. And if you actually had him in your active lineup tonight, congratulations are in order.

Tue Jan 24 201222:25Tyrus Thomas continues to struggle
Tyrus Thomas hit just 1-of-9 shots in 31 minutes for four points, four rebounds, two steals and two blocks in Tuesday's loss to the Knicks.
Despite his terrible production, he continues to get minutes and could break out at any time. And while it may feel like Bismack Biyombo is pushing him for a job, BB played just 11 minutes and failed to score, missing all five of his shots on Tuesday.
