Sun Jan 22 201220:25Tyrus Thomas, Byron Mullens minutes limited
Tyrus Thomas played 20 minutes vs the Nets on Sunday, while Byron Mullens played just 21 minutes.
Neither frontcourt player had a negative +/- rating, even though their team lost, but Paul Silas used a deep rotation which gave minutes to Boris Diaw (19), Bismack Biyombo (18) and Eduardo Najera (17). Hold onto both Thomas and Mullens while this shakes itself out.

Thu Jan 19 201210:59Silas exercising patience with Tyrus Thomas
Paul Silas said that he's "trying to show patience" with Tyrus Thomas.
Thomas has started each of Charlotte's last five games, but he's really struggled. He's averaging only 6.4 points and 2.8 rebounds, but he is salvaging some value with 2.0 blocks per game. He's played at least 25 minutes in every game over that time except for one, so owners in need of blocks should take a long look at him if he's still available.

Tue Jan 17 201222:18Tyrus Thomas struggles again on Tuesday
Tyrus Thomas hit just 2-of-10 shots for seven points, two rebounds, two steals and a block in 28 minutes Tuesday.
He's been pretty awful thus far, but the minutes are there. And now that he's about to be dropped across the board in fantasy leagues, look for his numbers to pick up. Thomas is notorious for frustrating his owners, and this year looks to be no different. Cut him if you must, but don't be surprised if he starts producing in those minutes as soon as you drop him.

Mon Jan 16 201217:20Tyrus Thomas has one point in just 16 minutes
Tyrus Thomas had one point, one rebound, one steal and three blocks in Monday's loss to the Cavs.
Thomas played just 16 minutes as he continues to struggle badly. He's started six straight games, but hasn't topped 10 points or seven boards in any of them. We're starting to question Thomas' basketball skills and coach Paul Silas apparently is as well. D.J. White came off the bench for 31 minutes today. The saving grace is that Thomas has 12 blocks in seven games on the year.

Sat Jan 14 201222:31Tyrus Thomas very quiet in start at PF
Starting at PF vs. the Warriors on Saturday, Tyrus Thomas only managed five points and four rebounds in 26 minutes.
Thomas struggled with ealry foul trouble, but he also struggled to contain Warriors PF David Lee and wound up conceding minutes to Boris Diaw. He has enough upside to hang onto him a while longer, especially while he has the starting PF job.

Thu Jan 12 201222:50Tyrus Thomas (legs) gets three blocks
Tyrus Thomas (sore legs) played on Thursday against the Hawks, scoring nine points on 3-of-6 shooting with no rebounds and three blocks in 26 minutes.
We can only hope that being assigned to cover Joe Johnson for much of the game was the cause for his rebounding troubles, but we know for sure that his explosion is back. His blocks came as the result of some awe-inspiring physical ability. Rebounding concerns aside, he looked good and owners should be holding here.

Thu Jan 12 201218:32Tyrus Thomas starting on Thursday
Tyrus Thomas (sore legs) will start at small forward against the Hawks Thursday.
The frail Thomas is a good bet for 26-30 minutes tonight if he can sustain health. He should be fresh after sitting out on Tuesday. Thomas has three blocks and 16 rebounds in his three appearances this season.

Thu Jan 12 201214:06Tyrus Thomas (legs) expected to play Thursday
Tyrus Thomas (legs) is expected to play on Thursday.
Thomas missed Charlotte's last game with fatigued legs but is now ready to return. He's averaged 7.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and a block over 29 minutes, and owners should expect his production to steadily increase as he gets more games under his belt. He's worth rostering in 12-team leagues for his ability to contribute across the stat sheet.

Wed Jan 11 201208:07Tyrus Thomas wanted to play Wednesday
Tyrus Thomas (ankle/legs) wanted to play on Tuesday.
Coach Paul Silas said that Thomas' legs were hurting, and it was possible the team played him too many minutes too quickly upon his return. Barring an unforeseen setback, Thomas should return for Thursday's game against the Hawks.

Tue Jan 10 201217:44Tyrus Thomas (ankle) ruled out on Tuesday
Tyrus Thomas (ankle) has been ruled out on Tuesday.
Thomas has dealt with foul trouble since coming back from an ankle injury and it took just three games for his ankle to flare up. He's tenatively expected to play on Thursday, but he's listed as day-to-day. Derrick Brown will draw the start at small forward in his place, and Thomas' absence is a bit of a boost to Boris Diaw and Byron Mullens.

Tue Jan 10 201201:14Tyrus Thomas deals with foul trouble vs. NYK
Tyrus Thomas dealt with foul trouble against the Knicks on Monday, and scored six points on 2-of-7 shooting with four rebounds and two blocks in 22 minutes.
We're not overly worried about the performance, though owners will have to get used to his aggression costing him like it did tonight. Thomas should be owned in all 12-team, 8/9 cat formats.

Sat Jan 7 201222:26Tyrus Thomas starts at SF for Bobcats
Starting at SF for the Bobcats on Saturday, Tyrus Thomas had 10 points, seven rebounds, two turnovers and no other statistics in 32 minutes.
Thomas clearly wasn't bothered by the calf cramps that forced him out of Friday's OT loss, and needs to be owned in all fantasy leagues given his sky-high potential for steals and blocks. For his career he's averaged 0.9 steals and 1.4 blocks in a mere 21 minutes per game.

Sat Jan 7 201219:18Tyrus Thomas (calves) starting at SF for CHA
Tyrus Thomas started Saturday's game at SF for the Bobcats.
That didn't take long. Paul Silas has moved DeSagana Diop into the starting five at center, shifting Boris Diaw to his natural position of PF and sending D.J. White to the bench. Thomas has huge upside when healthy and given enough minutes, so make sure he's not still lingering on your waiver wire.

Sat Jan 7 201212:40Tyrus Thomas (calfs) limps off late in OT
Tyrus Thomas limped off the court late in Friday's overtime loss to the Hawks, apparently suffering from cramps in both of his calfs.
Thomas left after diving for a ball but the injury doesn't seem serious. It was his first action of the season after recuperating from a sprained ankle, and he played 34 minutes, so cramping isn't all that surprising. Charlotte plays again on Saturday so check back soon for updates.

Fri Jan 6 201222:58Tyrus Thomas (knee) returns to play 34 mins
Tyrus Thomas (knee) made his season debut on Friday against the Hawks, playing 34 minutes off the bench with seven points on 3-of-9 shooting, five rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block.
Whether or not he stays healthy and/or effective, there's too much upside here to pass in 12-team, 8/9 cat formats. Paul Silas has said that Thomas could play both SF and PF this season, which makes sense given the dearth of dominant talent in the frontcourt.

Fri Jan 6 201218:00Tyrus Thomas to play both SF and PF for 'Cats
According to Bobcats' head coach Paul Silas, Tyrus Thomas will play both small forward and power forward this season.
Even if Thomas comes off the bench behind D.J. White at PF and Derrick Brown at SF initially, the extra minutes at SF should mean Thomas' playing time won't take much of a hit. Based on his superior talent, expect Thomas to win the starting PF job back from White, sooner rather than later.

Fri Jan 6 201211:26Tyrus Thomas (ankle) to make debut on Friday
Tyrus Thomas (ankle) will make his season debut on Friday.
Thomas was a full participant at shootaround and his first game couldn't come at a better time with Corey Maggette (hamstring) out for 2-4 weeks. He might have to knock off the rust, but his freak athleticism offers serious fantasy upside. In 41 games for Charlotte last season, Thomas averaged 10.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in just 21 minutes of playing time.

Thu Jan 5 201200:25Tyrus Thomas could be back Friday
Coach Paul Silas said there's a strong chance Tyrus Thomas (ankle) will return for Friday's game against the Hawks.
Thomas has been participating in shootarounds and practices this week. The Bobcats appear set to turn him loose. While they'll certainly ease him back into the rotation slowly, there are plenty of minutes to be gobbled up here. Corey Maggette going down with a serious hamstring injury will clear even more minutes. Thomas has averaged 2.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per-36 minutes in his five-year career.

Tue Jan 3 201219:17Tyrus Thomas in street clothes Tuesday
Tyrus Thomas, who had a productive practice earlier in the day, is in street clothes on the Charlotte bench for Tuesday's game.
He's nearing a return to action, but will likely split minutes with D.J. White when he's ready to play again.

Tue Jan 3 201214:14Tyrus Thomas looks good in practice Tuesday
Tyrus Thomas reportedly looked good in Bobcats practice Tuesday.
Thomas seems to be getting close to a return, but with D.J. White playing so well in his stead, coach Paul Silas has said Thomas will have to earn his minutes, and starting job, back. Thomas offers a lot of fantasy upside, but given his trouble staying healthy and White's emergence, we wouldn't blame you if you wanted to take a wait-and-see approach with the talented big man.
