Fri Feb 8 201320:25Quincy Pondexter expects to play Tuesday
The Grizzlies expect Quincy Pondexter (knee) to play against Sacramento on Tuesday.
He's been out with an MCL sprain since December 17, so it's obviously a fairly serious sprain to force him to miss that much time. Pondexter played 22 minutes per game in his games off the bench while minute-eating Rudy Gay was active, so he might be able to get to 24 per night with Tayshaun Prince now holding down the fort at small forward. He can be left on almost all waiver wires.

Thu Feb 7 201317:26Pondexter cleared for non-contact practice
Quincy Pondexter (sprained MCL) has been cleared to practice without contact.
Pondexter ran full speed and dunked Monday, but there's still no official timeline for his return. He won't do enough when healthy to help fantasy owners, but he will be a nice bench piece for coach Lionel Hollins.

Mon Feb 4 201316:01Quincy Pondexter (knee) getting closer
Quincy Pondexter (sprained knee) ran full speed and dunked on Monday, though he remains without a specific return date.
The Grizzlies are 11-8 since he went down in late December, and his return will be a nice boost for the depth chart, especially with Lionel Hollins using a tight eight-man rotation.

Sat Feb 2 201307:25Hollins: Grizzlies to use 8-man rotation now
Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins indicated that he plans to use an eight-man rotation until Quincy Pondexter (knee) returns.
Newcomers Ed Davis and Austin Daye, who both played just five minutes in their Memphis debut, will have to prove to Hollins that they can be regular contributors. Tayshaun Prince saw a whopping 32 minutes off the bench, and every starter played at least 34 minutes on Friday. It's time to cut bait on Davis if you haven't already, and it doesn't appear Daye is headed for a rebirth in Memphis right now.

Thu Dec 27 201214:49Quincy Pondexter sits out practice Thursday
Quincy Pondexter missed practice Thursday with a right calf strain.
The injury was termed mild and with the Grizzlies off until Saturday, it's unlikely Pondexter will miss any game action. We're listing him as day-to-day, but check back Friday for another update. However, if Rudy Gay is back in his starting role Saturday, Pondexter's fantasy value will be moot once again.

Thu Dec 27 201200:50Quincy Pondexter scores 13 in start for Gay
Quincy Pondexter was added to the starting lineup at the last minute on Wednesday, as Rudy Gay didn't make it back to the Grizzlies from Christmas break in time for the game.
It will be interesting to see if Gay faces any penalties from the Grizzlies, while QP finished with 13 points, five rebounds and three 3-pointers on 3-of-13 shooting. Gay is expected to rejoin the team on Thursday and we expect him to play on Saturday. And if it happens, Pondexter will go back to obscurity.

Sat Dec 22 201223:13Pondexter scores 14 pts in garbage time
Quincy Pondexter scored 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting off the Grizzlies bench on Saturday, adding two 3-pointers, two rebounds and one steal in 28 minutes.
This was Pondexter's first game with double-digit points in over two weeks, as he and the rest of the reserves took advantage of extra playing time in a blowout. There's no reason to think QP will build on this performance.

Sat Dec 8 201201:36Pondexter scores 16 points on Friday
Quincy Pondexter hit all six of his field goal attempts (including four threes) to finish with 16 points, six rebounds, and three assists in 26 minutes off the bench on Friday against the Hornets.
Pondexter does this every once in a while, but especially with Tony Allen (groin) back in the lineup this should be viewed as the exception and not the rule.

Fri Dec 7 201209:57Quincy Pondexter searching for consistency
Quincy Pondexter admitted that he's searching for consistency.
"My thing is to be consistent," Pondexter said. "The best way to do that is with effort. You're not going to score every game. But I just want to go out and control everything by my effort." Pondexter is averaging 6.5 points, two boards, 1.1 treys and 0.9 steals on 40.9 percent shooting in 24 minutes per game this season.

Wed Dec 5 201200:11Quincy Pondexter gets 37 minutes, scores 16
Quincy Pondexter scored a season-high 16 points with three rebounds, one steal and two 3-pointers against the Suns on Tuesday.
He also played a season-high 37 minutes as he helped fill the void left by Tony Allen (back spasms). Allen shouldn't be out much longer and most owners can leave Pondexter on the wire. The Grizzlies are off until Friday.

Quincy Pondexter put up 14 points off the bench on Monday, hitting 5-of-8 shots (including two threes) with two rebounds and one assist in 22 minutes.
Pondexter has never really produced when given minutes, so we'll need to see some consistency before we advise him for pickup in any format.

Wed Oct 31 201218:30Grizzlies pick up option for Quincy Pondexter
The Grizzlies have picked up Quincy Pondexter's fourth-year option.
Pondexter will earn $2.2 million in 2013-14, which will likely be a contract year since (barring unexpected improvement) the Grizzlies probably wouldn't extend a $3.3 million qualifying offer in the summer of 2014. Pondexter has no fantasy value in the Grizzlies' deep rotation.
