Sat Feb 8 201401:59Roberts scores 16 points with key shot late
Brian Roberts scored 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting with four rebounds and six assists in the Pelicans' 98-91 win over the Wolves on Friday.
Roberts also made his one 3-pointer count at the end of the game to put the nail in the coffin. He has just a borderline fantasy play 12-team leagues since taking over for Jrue Holiday, and lately his value in 9-cat leagues has been just a 14-16 team value. The culprits are a combined 1.6 steals, blocks and threes per game over his last 15 contests, with just 12.1 points and 4.2 assists to make up for it.

Thu Feb 6 201401:46Brian Roberts scores 19 in win over Hawks
Brian Roberts got hot on Wednesday and hit 7-of-14 shots and a 3-pointer for 19 points, three rebounds, six assists and two steals.
Roberts has been a bit disappointing as Jrue Holiday's (leg) fill-in, but came through tonight. And until Holiday is ready to return, Roberts should still be a serviceable fantasy point guard on most nights. The 19 points tied a season high and he broke a three-game streak of scoring in single digits with tonight's performance.

Wed Jan 29 201422:52Brian Roberts quiet in loss to Wolves
Brian Roberts hit just 3-of-10 shots and zero 3-pointers for nine points, three rebounds and three assists in Wednesday's loss.
He had scored in double figures in five straight games and is averaging 12.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 0.8 3-pointers over his last five. As tempting as it might be to drop him after Wednesday's dud, we're guessing he bounces back in his next one. And as long as Jrue Holiday is out, Roberts is the starting point guard for the Pelicans.

Sun Jan 26 201421:05Pelicans PG Brian Roberts scores 15 points
Pelicans PG Brian Roberts scored 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting in Sunday's home victory, but he only had two assists vs. four turnovers.
Jrue Holiday remains 'out indefinitely' with a stress fracture in his tibia, which gives Roberts solid fantasy appeal as the Pelican's default starting PG. He's been averaging 11.1 points, 1.2 threes, 2.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 0.6 steals in that role over the past nine games, and had been turning the ball over a stingy 1.1 times per game. Keep rolling him out there while watching for updates on Holiday's rehab.

Sat Jan 25 201400:55Roberts gets benched in Friday's win
Brian Roberts played just 22 minutes in the Pelicans' 103-101 road win over the Pistons on Friday, scoring 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting (including a three) with two rebounds, two assists and one steal.
Roberts hit all four of his free throws and we'll pass along any updates about injury, but it looks like he simply lost minutes to Austin Rivers tonight. Owners shouldn't panic but Roberts needs bigger popcorn numbers and minutes to offset some of his deficiencies. Eric Gordon added 15 points three rebounds, three assists, two steals, two threes and seven turnovers, and also added the game-winning drive with two seconds left.

Wed Jan 22 201400:02Brian Roberts scores 15 with six assists
Brian Roberts hit 6-of-10 shots for 15 points, two rebounds and six assists in Tuesday's loss.
He didn't have a steal or 3-pointer tonight, but the scoring and dimes were nice. Roberts has scored in double figures in four of his last five games and is averaging 13.2 points, 4.4 assists and 1.6 3-pointers over that stretch. The lack of steals isn't encouraging, but as long as Jrue Holiday remains out, Roberts is a solid fantasy option at point guard.

Mon Jan 20 201421:45Brian Roberts scores 13 points, hits three 3s
Brian Roberts made all three attempts from downtown in Monday's thrilling 95-92 win over the Grizzlies, scoring 13 points with two boards, three assists and no turnovers.
He played well tonight and got some great looks at the bucket. Roberts has forced a lot of his shots all season and it's led to just a 39.9 percent from the field prior to tonight's game. He's worth owning in most standard leagues until Jrue Holiday (leg) is back.

Tue Jan 14 201401:27Roberts gets back on track with 19-4-4 line
Brian Roberts got going in the Pelicans' 101-95 loss to the Spurs on Monday, scoring 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting (including three treys) with four rebounds and four assists.
Ask the locals about Roberts and they might send you to clean trash on Bourbon Street after Fat Tuesday, but the Pellies are stuck with him and he's going to be in most lineups while Jrue Holiday is out. In his last five games he is averaging 11.2 points, 1.2 threes, 3.4 boards, 3.4 assists and just 0.8 combined steals and blocks, while hitting 42.2 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from the line in 25.4 minutes per contest. Look for him to play about 28-34 minutes per game until Holiday and Evans get back.

Sun Jan 12 201400:55Brian Roberts stinks again vs. Mavericks
Brian Roberts was horrible in his second start of the season against the Mavericks, shooting 2-of-10 from the field for seven points with three boards, eight assists, two steals and one turnover in 31 minutes.
He has really struggled so far and the Pelicans offense has been out of sorts with all their injuries. Roberts has shown he can get to the basket in his rookie year, but his shot selection has been a disaster to start the year. The minutes and upside are there for Roberts, he just has to play better. He's a hold in most formats.

Sat Jan 11 201400:23Brian Roberts has an ugly start
Brian Robert's first start of the season did not go well against the Mavericks on Friday, scoring nine points with seven boards, one assist and one 3-pointer in 25 minutes.
He is expected to start for the foreseeable future with Jrue Holiday suffering a stress fracture in his leg. Roberts has struggled mightily on offense, can't score around the basket and hasn't been able to push the tempo for the Pelicans while he's been on the court, but things should go better in the future. He's worth owning in standard leagues for his ability to add points, assists, steals and 3-pointers.

Fri Jan 10 201411:27Brian Roberts projects as Pelicans starter
Brian Roberts projects as the Pelicans' starting point guard while Jrue Holiday (leg) is out indefinitely.
Holiday has a stress fracture in his tibia, an injury that can vary greatly in terms of severity and rehab timelines. But Roberts needs to be owned as we await word. In five starts last year, he averaged 12.6 points, 10.0 assists, 3.2 rebounds, 1.4 3-pointers and 0.8 steals. Tyreke Evans also gets a major boost as he'll see a boost in both minutes and time with the ball in his hands.

Sun Dec 29 201300:32Brian Roberts struggles in start at SG
Brian Roberts started at shooting guard Saturday but had just five points and a 3-pointer in 20 minutes.
Eric Gordon was out for the second straight game with a hip injury, giving Roberts the start, but he backfired on owners who used him in daily leagues. If Gordon is ruled out long term Roberts could have some value, but for now, he should probably just be ignored in fantasy leagues.

Sat Dec 28 201320:03Brian Roberts starting vs. Houston on Sat.
Brian Roberts is starting at shooting guard for the Pelicans on Saturday.
He's really just a placeholder for Eric Gordon and doesn't have much fantasy value while Jrue Holiday is healthy. Roberts hasn't really improved as a passer this year and has cooled off after an eye-catching 2012-13 season. Tyreke Evans should have a good game tonight.

Wed Nov 6 201300:21Brian Roberts scores 17 off the bench
Brian Roberts was a big part of the offense on Tuesday with 17 points, one board, five assists, three steals, three 3-pointers and no turnovers in 30 minutes.
With Jrue Holiday in a slump, coach Monty Williams went with a hot Brian Roberts a little more tonight. Roberts was only playing 15.3 minutes per game, and that's tough for one of the best young point guards in the NBA. It'll be tough to own him in standard leagues as a backup, but he would have tremendous value should Holiday ever miss time.

Fri Oct 25 201321:56Brian Roberts goes off in preseason finale
Brian Roberts hit 7-of-11 shots and 4-of-4 3-pointers on his way to 21 points, two rebounds, three assists and a steal off the Pelicans' bench on Friday.
They rested the starters and this is simply your yearly reminder that if Jrue Holiday goes down, Roberts is the guy you'll want to pick up immediately. He has never gotten a great opportunity, but usually comes through in a big way when he lands in the starting lineup.

Wed Oct 9 201322:03Brian Roberts playing well for Pelicans
Brian Roberts started at SG and played well for a second straight game after missing the preseason opener with an ankle injury, finishing Wednesday's game with 16 points, three boards, four assists, two steals and a 3-pointer on 5-of-9 shooting.
He had 17 points and four dimes in his previous game, but should struggle to play this well in the regular season if Tyreke Evans and Eric Gordon are healthy. He looks like the backup point guard for Jrue Holiday, meaning he would make for a possible last-round flier as a handcuff for Holiday's owners.

Sat Oct 5 201314:34Brian Roberts (ankle) doubtful for opener
Brian Roberts (ankle) said he's doubtful for the team's preseason opener on Saturday.
He suffered a sprained ankle on Wednesday, so there's little reason to get Roberts on the court at less than 100 percent. The good news is that he's hopeful to play on Monday. He's one of the better young backups in the NBA, but has minimal fantasy value while Jrue Holiday is healthy.

Thu Oct 3 201316:32Roberts (ankle) held out of practice on Thu
Brian Roberts (ankle) was held out of practice on Thursday.
Roberts turned his ankle in practice on Wednesday and is currently fighting for the backup point guard job with Austin Rivers. Based on last season's play he is the favorite between the two, but it's early.

Wed Oct 2 201315:28Brian Roberts sprains ankle in practice
Brian Roberts sprained his ankle in Wednesday's practice.
He was held out of 5-on-5 scrimmages with the team. There's no word on the severity of the sprain, so we'll pass along any updates. Roberts enters the year as Jrue Holiday's backup, so with Jrue's durability and the Pelicans' second unit boasting some serious punch, it'll be tough to target Roberts in fantasy drafts.

Mon Jul 15 201316:07Brian Roberts scores 20 points for Pelicans
Brian Roberts, whose contract for 2013-14 is only partially guaranteed, scored a game-high 20 points in the Pelicans' loss vs. the Bucks on Sunday.
The Pelicans have a busy backcourt but they like Roberts and could keep him as PG insurance on a relatively skimpy $789k final-year salary. His deal will be fully guaranteed if he's not waived before July 20.
