Updating a previous report, Earl Watson (ankle) plans to play on Saturday.
Watson was listed as doubtful to play, but felt fine during shootaround and said the laser treatment he received was extremely helpful in his recovery. His presence is a bucket of cold water for owners who picked up Jamaal Tinsley, though both could play heavy minutes if Devin Harris (hamstring) is unable to suit up.

It doesn't look good, but we've seen worse. Watson also added that he "was getting laser treatment for a speedy recovery," but we're not going to read into his enthusiastic tweet all that much. Looking at the ankle, we can safely say he's not playing in the next few days and we're calling him out indefinitely until the next report.

Thu Feb 2 201220:54Watson (ankle) out on Thu; getting 2nd look
Earl Watson will not play on Thursday and is getting a second opinion on his severely sprained left ankle.
Devin Harris (hamstring) will start and Jamaal Tinsley will back him up. Harris needs to be given a hard look in 12-team formats, even though he's playing awful basketball right now. It looks like he'll have a decent-sized ramp to get back on track with.

Thu Feb 2 201217:34Earl Watson's ankle swelled up quickly
Earl Watson said his sprained left ankle "swelled up pretty quickly" Wednesday night.
This has the look of something more significant than a Grade 1 ankle sprain for Watson. Devin Harris played 34 minutes last night, but still managed just eight points and four assists on 2-of-6 shooting.

Tue Jan 31 201202:46Watson posts big line for deeper leagues
Earl Watson posted a versatile line on Monday, scoring six points on 3-of-4 shooting with five rebounds, four assists, five steals, and two blocks in 25 minutes.
He played one more minute than starter Devin Harris, and while he may never overtake him for the starting job -- he's making a case for deep league ownership with his play. He's providing late-round value in 12-team leagues over the past two weeks in 8- and 9-cat formats, but with his bench role and risk that Harris gets it together he's a better fit in 14-16 team leagues.

Fri Jan 20 201201:52Watson ready to cut into Harris' playing time
Earl Watson played 24 minutes on Thursday against the Mavs, scoring five points on 2-of-4 shooting with two rebounds, seven assists, and a steal.
Watson outplayed starter Devin Harris by a wide margin tonight, and if things continue like this it wouldn't be surprising to see a changing of the guard. He still doesn't produce a whole lot, however, in a full-time starting role, so this does more to hurt Harris' value than it does to make Watson into a fantasy asset.

Sat Jan 7 201203:07Watson posts solid low-end line on Friday
Earl Watson scored 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting with four rebounds, five assists, and a steal in 23 minutes off the bench on Friday.
Watson has played well this year according to the team, and owners in 14-18 team formats will want to see if this recent mini-explosion is just a one-game thing. Devin Harris' (calf) owners will want to watch Watson too, to see if he can cut into Harris' time at all.
