CF Bradley Zimmer will likely start all three games against Detroit this weekend. Manager Terry Francona said prior to Friday's postponement that he was leaning toward starting Zimmer the entire series. He wants Zimmer in the outfield to cover Comerica Park's vast expanse. Zimmer is batting .289 with four homers and 22 RBI in 40 games since his recall from Triple-A Columbus.

OF Bradley Zimmer continues to impress in his rookie season, with his bat, his defense, and his speed. Especially his speed. In the third inning, Zimmer's speed helped him beat out a high chopper to second for an infield single. Zimmer advanced to second on a wild pitch, went to third on a groundout, and then scored on a close play at the plate on another wild pitch. "Talk about manufacturing a run with your legs. All the way around the bases, that was his speed," said Manager Terry Francona.

OF Bradley Zimmer drew a bases-loaded walk in the fourth inning on Friday night that produced the Indians' second run. In the third inning, Zimmer, playing center field, threw out OF Melky Cabrera at the plate, when Cabrera tried to score from second on a single by Avisail Garcia. "I got to it quick, and tried to get rid of it as quick as I could," Zimmer said. "Fortunately, I had enough on it to get it there."

CF Bradley Zimmer is putting up some solid rookie numbers, with a .553 slugging percentage and a .358 on-base percentage. Manager Terry Francona seldom uses him against left-handed pitchers. Zimmer, however, started against Royals LHP Eric Skoglund Sunday and struck out in the second, his only at-bat off him. Francona said he wants to give Zimmer more at-bats against left-handers. "If he faces some of these lefties and swings the bat like he has against these righties, then all of a sudden this kid is a little more exciting," Francona said. "We don't want to just talk him into not hitting lefties. This kid has got too much talent. We still know he's learning a lot of things, but at the same time, he's impacting our team in a really positive way. That's hard for a young guy to do."

OF Bradley Zimmer led the Indians' offense with a two-run double and a two-run homer, giving him a career-high four RBIs. In 13 games since being called up from Triple-A Columbus, Zimmer is hitting .314, with two home runs, eight RBIs, three stolen bases, and is played a flawless center field. "He's fun to watch. He's exciting. He's given us a real lift," manager Terry Francona said.

OF Bradley Zimmer, a left-handed hitter, was not in the starting lineup Saturday because manager Terry Francona did not want to expose the rookie, with only nine major league games under his belt, to crafty Royals LHP Jason Vargas. "He will not be a straight platoon player. We want him to be a 156-game guy per year," Francona said. "But this guy today (Vargas) is tough."

OF Bradley Zimmer's second game in the major leagues was much better than his first. After striking out three times in his major-league debut on Tuesday, Zimmer was 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBIs on Wednesday. "It was nice to see that. I'm sure he feels a heck of a lot better than yesterday," manager Terry Francona said. "The difference between yesterday and today was like night and day," Zimmer said. "Getting the double (for his first major league hit), was huge. I was able to relax. It was very exciting."
Wed May 17 201715:55Indians OF Almonte to miss three to five weeks
Cleveland Indians outfielder Abraham Almonte is expected to miss three to five weeks with a high-grade sprain to his right biceps tendon, the team announced Wednesday.Almonte aggravated the injury and exited Monday's 8-7 victory over Tampa Bay before being placed on the 10-day disabled list the following day.Further examination and an MRI confirmed the biceps injury for Almonte, who joined fellow outfielders Brandon Guyer and Austin Jackson on the sidelines. Guyer is expected to miss for four to six weeks with a left wrist sprain while Jackson is nursing a toe injury.Almonte is batting .221 with one homer and six RBIs in 33 games this season. The 27-year-old Dominican is hitting .246 with 12 homers and 76 RBIs in 266 career contests with the Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres and Indians.

OF Bradley Zimmer, the Indians' first round pick and the 21st player taken overall in the 2014 draft, was called up from Triple-A Columbus. He made his major league debut Tuesday night, playing center field and hitting ninth. "It's a feeling that is hard to put into words. Something I'll never forget," Zimmer said when he found out he was being called up to the big leagues. In 126 at-bats at Columbus, Zimmer was hitting .294 with a .532 slugging percentage and .902 OPS. In his debut Tuesday night, Zimmer was 0-for-3 with three strikeouts.

OF Bradley Zimmer, the Indians' top draft pick (21st overall) in the 2014 June Draft, moved another step closer to Cleveland in 2016. The 6-4 left-handed hitting centerfielder split the season between Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus. In a combined 468 at bats he hit .250 with 25 doubles, 15 home runs, 62 RBI, and 38 stolen bases. Zimmer will likely begin the 2017 season at Columbus, but with the Indians' outfield in a period of transition, he could play his way into the big leagues at some point during the season.

Zimmer (foot) will not play in the Arizona Fall League.
The highly touted prospect suffered a hairline fracture in his right foot, so the announcement doesn't come as much of a surprise. The 22-year-old is expected to make a full recovery in time for the start of the 2016 season and could make his big league debut some point next year.

Zimmer has a hairline fracture in his right foot and is doubtful to play in the Arizona Fall League, MiLB.com's Sam Dykstra reports.
Zimmer had emerged as a borderline top-25 prospect for dynasty leagues, and someone who could impact the big league roster in 2016, so this is pretty relevant news. The injury is not expected to have lasting effects, so Zimmer could hit the ground running in 2016 and make a play for the center field job in Cleveland sometime next summer.

Zimmer, 22, is hitting .269/.376/.504 with six home runs and seven steals in 32 games at Double-A Akron.
There might be questions about whether Zimmer, who is 6-foot-4, 185 pounds, will be able to stick in center field as he continues to add mass, but there is no doubt at this point that his bat will play anywhere in the outfield. Zimmer has 45 extra-base hits and 39 steals in 110 games between High-A and Double-A, all while walking more than 10 percent of the time and striking out in less than 23 percent of his plate appearances. Zimmer will be in consideration as a top-10 prospect in dynasty leagues heading into 2016, and there's no reason he can'd reach the big leagues sometime next summer.

Zimmer, 22, is batting .306/.403/.491 with 10 home runs, 37 RBI and 31 steals through 76 games for High-A Lynchburg.
If we're being picky, Zimmer has fanned 76 times in those 76 contests. Perhaps that is the reason he has not been promoted yet. However, the rest of his numbers are pretty gaudy, and he should see Double-A shortly.

Zimmer, 22, is in the midst of a breakout campaign, hitting .319/.417/.528 with eight home runs and 19 steals in 192 plate appearances with High-A Lynchburg.
This is the kind of all-around display of skills the Indians envisioned when they took Zimmer with the 21st pick in the 2014 draft. In addition to fantastic counting stats, Zimmer has a 21.4 percent K-rate and an 11.4 percent walk rate, so his approach is as refined as his tools. Look for Zimmer to get promoted to Double-A in short order and now is the time to grab him if he is available in dynasty leagues.
