Jefferson will continue to come off the bench against the Cavaliers on Friday, Ethan J. Skolnick of Turner Sports reports.
Jefferson is working his way back from a groin injury and is expected to see limited minutes in the short term while coming off the bench. He managed to record 12 points in just 19 minutes against the Heat on Wednesday, so the veteran may still be a viable option the very deepest of leagues at the moment.

Jefferson came off the bench for 19 minutes against the Heat on Wednesday and contributed 12 points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal, and two blocks.
This was just the second game that Jefferson has played since injuring his groin in late December. He'll likely be on a minutes restriction in the short term which leaves his owners in a tough position on whether or not he deserves the play in limited action. The 30-year-old should certainly be deployed in deeper leagues moving forward, but smaller leagues may want to examine other players getting a full workload until Jefferson's restriction is lifted.
Wed Jan 21 201518:13Jefferson expected to play 16-to-18 minutes off bench Wednesday
Jefferson is expected to play 16-to-18 minutes off the bench Wednesday, the Charlotte Observer's Rick Bonnell reports.
While Jefferson was believed to be on a similar minutes limit Monday, he was able to play 25 minutes off the bench, so this should be a loose advisory. However, it would still be wise to go with a different option in daily leagues, as Jefferson almost certainly won't see enough minutes to warrant his price Wednesday.

Jefferson returned to action Monday, posting eight points and five rebounds in 25 minutes off the bench against Minnesota.
Jefferson hadn't played since Dec. 29 with a groin injury, a span of nine games. Though he was expected to play 16 minutes, he logged 25 minutes in a blowout win over the Timberwolves. Owners might want to be patient as Jefferson rounds into game shape and doesn't have any reported minutes restriction before playing him with confidence. Once he is back to playing his usual complement of minutes, Jefferson should return to his 18 point, eight rebound form.
Mon Jan 19 201512:45Al Jefferson: (Groin) Will Return Monday
Jefferson (groin) will return to action Monday against the Timberwolves, but will come off the bench and will be limited to a maximum of 16 minutes, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.
Jefferson was medically cleared Sunday during practice, and will now suit up Monday. He was reportedly initially targeting Wednesday as a potential return date, but he will rejoin the lineup ahead of schedule. Bismack Biyombo will receive the start again Monday with Jefferson limited, though it may be his last if all goes well.
Fri Jan 16 201512:51Al Jefferson: (Groin) May Return Wednesday
Jefferson (groin) is targeting a return date for Wednesday against the Heat, the Charlotte Observer reports.
Jefferson has been sidelined with a groin injury since Dec. 29 but has been able to participate in on-court workouts of late. The potential return date set for Wednesday is not a forgone conclusion, although his return seems to be imminent nonetheless.
Wed Jan 14 201512:07Jefferson (groin) has begun taking part in on-court workouts
Jefferson (groin) has begun taking part in on-court workouts, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.
Jefferson is expected to remain out for at least another two weeks, but it's certainly a positive sign to see him working on the court, even in limited capacity. He's dealing with a groin injury that has now recurred multiple times, however, so the Hornets will exercise caution in bringing him back up to speed. Expect Bismack Biyombo to remain in the starting lineup, with Jason Maxiell and rookie Noah Vonleh seeing a mild boost in playing time in Jefferson's absence.
Tue Dec 30 201422:27Al Jefferson: (Groin) Out At Least Four Weeks
Jefferson (groin) will miss a minimum of four weeks, the Charlotte Observer's Rick Bonnell reports.
His status was up in the air, but this is about as bad of a prognosis as his owners could have expected. In his absence, Cody Zeller will be asked to really step into a major role for the first time in his career. Bismack Biyombo will also see increased run off the bench, and it would seem possible that the Hornets opt to go with a small lineup starting Marvin Williams at power forward for the time being.
Tue Dec 30 201412:53Al Jefferson: (Groin) Out At Least Two Games
Jefferson (groin) will miss at least the Hornets' next two games due to a groin strain.
Jefferson suffered the injury last weekend and had to be removed from Monday's game against the Bucks in the fourth quarter after re-aggravating it. He's already been ruled out for Wednesday's matchup with Houston and Friday's game against the Cavaliers, so the soonest he could return is Saturday in Orlando. Consider Jefferson day-to-day at this point, and look for Bismack Biyombo to see an uptick in minutes.
Mon Dec 29 201422:19Al Jefferson: (Groin) May Be Shut Down For A Bit
Jefferson (groin) may be shut down for a bit, according to the Charlotte Observer's Rick Bonnell reports.
The groin strain has been bothering Jefferson since last Saturday, and he was pulled from Monday's loss to the Bucks in the fourth quarter. He hasn't played well over the last few games, so the Hornets may decide that a patient approach is optimal. That being said, Charlotte needs every win it can get, following a miserable start to the season. If Jefferson misses time, the Hornets will likely need more minutes from Cody Zeller, Bismack Biyombo and Marvin Williams. The team doesn't seem to have much faith in Biyombo, while Zeller and Williams are already getting significant run.
Mon Dec 29 201421:51Al Jefferson: (Groin) Doesn't Return Monday
Jefferson (groin) didn't return to Monday's overtime loss to the Bucks.
Jefferson walked gingerly off the court midway through the fourth quarter and never returned through the completion of the extra period, leaving his status questionable for Wednesday's game at Houston. No matter, he still managed to post six points (3-12 FG), eight rebounds, five assists, and one steal in 28 minutes.
Mon Dec 29 201421:15Al Jefferson: (Groin) Leaves Monday's Game
Jefferson left Monday's game against the Bucks in the fourth quarter due to his strained groin, the Charlotte Observer reports.
For more than a week, Jefferson has been dealing with the ailment, which forced him to walk off the court gingerly and head to the locker room. If he fails to return to the floor, he'll finish with six points (3-12 FG), eight rebounds, five assists, and one steal in 28 minutes. Consider him questionable for Wednesday's outing in Houston.
Mon Dec 29 201412:49Jefferson (groin strain) probable for Monday's game
Jefferson (groin strain) is probable for Monday's game, the Charlotte Observer's Rick Bonnell reports.
He has played through the ailment so far, so owners should expect him to play Monday and deploy him with confidence in weekly lineups.
Sat Dec 27 201417:37Al Jefferson: (Groin) Probable Saturday
Jefferson (groin) is likely to play Sunday against the magic, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.
Jefferson played through the injury Friday, but struggled and only scored four points in 22 minutes, putting some doubt on his status Saturday. If he plays, he should still be used in season long lineups, but daily players who buy Jefferson will be taking a chance since he does have a quality matchup, but could struggled again Saturday.

Jefferson (groin) struggled during his 22 minutes on the court against the Thunder on Friday and only managed to produce four points (2-7 FG) and seven rebounds.
The Thunder stymied the entire Hornets squad and it likely led to Jefferson only seeing 22 minutes of action Friday. He came into the game with a groin injury and the Hornets faced a large deficit for virtually the entire game. Considering both of these factors, it makes sense that coach Steve Clifford diminished Jefferson's minutes when there wasn't much to play for anyways.
Fri Dec 26 201419:37Jefferson (groin) will play against Thunder on Friday
Jefferson (groin) will play against the Thunder on Friday.
Jefferson entered Friday with a probable designation so this outcome was to be expected. He is currently averaging 32.7 minutes on the court and will likely play around that same total against the Thunder.
Wed Dec 24 201418:25Jefferson (strained left groin) listed as probable for Friday's ...
Jefferson (strained left groin) is listed as probable for Friday's game against the Thunder.
Jefferson first suffered the injury last Saturday, but has played in both of Charlotte's game since that time. However, he saw minute counts below his 32.7 per game in both contests, and count be in line for another slight reduction in playing time again versus the Thunder. It's probably not significant enough for those in season-long leagues to keep Jefferson on their bench, but daily game players should exercise more caution with using the big man in their lineups.
Mon Dec 22 201421:28Jefferson (hamstring) scored 22 points (10-13 FG, 2-4 FT) to go ...
Jefferson (hamstring) scored 22 points (10-13 FG, 2-4 FT) to go along with seven rebounds, two assists and one steal in 26 minutes Monday against the Nuggets.
The Hornets took it to the Nuggets, so Jefferson was not needed to log heavy minutes Monday. He looks safe to deploy as usual and should continue to be a double-double threat on a nightly basis.
Mon Dec 22 201418:18Al Jefferson: (Hamstring) Suiting Up Monday
Jefferson (hamstring) will suit up for Monday's game against the Nuggets.
After emerging from Saturday's contest with a mild groin strain, Jefferson will shake off the injury and attempt to extend his double-double streak to four outings. During that span, he averaged 22.3 points (on 52 percent shooting), 10.7 boards, two assists, and one steal in 33 minutes.
Sun Dec 21 201409:50Jefferson came down with mild groin strain on Saturday
Jefferson came down with a mild groin strain on Saturday, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.
Jefferson left in the fourth quarter with groin strain while the win against the Jazz was already in the bag, and potentially could have returned if the team needed him to. He'll have Sunday to rest before facing the Nuggets at home on Monday.
