Fri Feb 28 201409:57Carl Landry to start for suspended Cousins?
The Sacramento Bee projects Carl Landy as the starter in place of DeMarcus Cousins (suspension) Friday night.
The Bee expects the starting five to be Isaiah Thomas, Ben McLeMore, Rudy Gay, Landry and Jason Thompson. Landry only had nine points and five rebounds when he started in place of Cousins on Feb. 19, but this time he'll be facing a Lakers defense that is incapable of defending the interior. We'd expect a little more production, although Derrick Williams, Aaron Gray and Reggie Evans will see plenty of burn off the bench. It's a low-floor situation for daily leaguers. Cousins will come off suspension Saturday.

Fri Feb 21 201411:33Carl Landry to move ahead of Thompson
Coach Mike Malone hinted that Carl Landry could move ahead of Jason Thompson going forward.
Landry was signed to a four-year, $26 million contract prior to this season. So far, the Kings have gotten 15 games and 12.5 minutes a night for their money. It only makes sense to get Landry on the court more so they can at least evaluate how he fits with their other pieces. The 18-36 Kings have nothing to lose.

Thu Feb 20 201402:47Carl Landry starts in absence of Cousins
Carl Landry got a start on Wednesday and had nine points and five rebounds in 21 minutes.
Cousins is day-to-day with a hip injury, but Jason Thompson, who had just six points and six rebounds in another start tonight, is actually a better bet for success while Cousins is out.

Wed Feb 19 201422:17Carl Landry in the starting lineup for Kings
Carl Landry made his first start of the season against the Warriors on Wednesday.
He's been held in check all season, playing just 11.9 minutes per game with averages of 3.6 points, 3.2 boards and 0.1 steals. Landry has been an efficient scorer in his career, but his hip injury from the offseason still seems to be holding him back. He's only worth a look in deep leagues.

Wed Feb 12 201411:53Carl Landry (hip surgery) not 100 percent
Carl Landry has not yet fully recovered from hip surgery and his conditioning is a "work in progress," according to coach Mike Malone.
"I think he's been a little bit inconsistent, but that's to be expected," Malone said. "We haven't lost a bit of confidence in him at all." Landry has nearly falled out of the Kings' rotation and he's a very dubious fantasy option even if he earns more minutes in the season's final months.

Thu Jan 30 201402:23Carl Landry scores season-high eight points
Carl Landry scored a season-high eight points against the Grizzlies during Wednesday's 99-89 loss, adding nine boards and two fouls in 23 minutes.
His nine boards matched his season high and his 23 minutes were his second-highest total. Landry has been terrific in shooting percentages in his career, making 53.5 percent from the field and 78.4 percent from the line, but he's still only on the radar in very deep leagues.

Sat Jan 25 201404:28Landry plays much more than expected
Carl Landry played much more than anybody on the Kings' side wanted on Friday, scoring five points on 2-of-8 shooting with nine rebounds in 26 minutes.
The Kings were in extreme foul trouble and without both DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay. Landry looks a little heavy and it's going to take a little bit before we can get a sense of his timetable to be full speed. He's waiver wire fodder for now.

Wed Jan 22 201410:15Carl Landry (hip) sits out vs. Pelicans
Carl Landry (hip) didn't play on Tuesday with the Kings well ahead in the fourth quarter, but coach Mike Malone hopes to play him vs. Houston on Wednesday.
Landry played nine minutes in his season debut and will be eased into the rotation very slowly. He's not worth a roster spot in typical fantasy leagues.

Mon Jan 20 201409:43Carl Landry (hip) eased into action for Kings
Carl Landry (hip) played the final nine minutes of Sunday's game, part of coach Mike Malone's plan to ease him back into the rotation.
"We felt me just getting my feet wet and getting me back in the groove of things was best," Landry said. "He just didn't want to throw me into the fire with 25, 30 minutes a game." He may provide enough rebounds and points to be worth a look once he's totally healthy, but for now standard-league owners should leave him on the waiver wire.

Sun Jan 19 201421:52Carl Landry (hip) scores six points in debut
Carl Landry (hip) made his season debut vs. the Thunder on Sunday, scoring six points with four rebounds in nine minutes off the bench.
His return is great news for the Kings, who gave him a four-year, $26 million contract this summer, but it's less beneficial in standard fantasy leagues. Landry will likely cut into the playing time of Jason Thompson (11 points, 10 rebounds in 30 minutes) and Derrick Williams (five points in 30 minutes). Even at full strength Landry is a two-dimensional fantasy option with career averages of 11.9 points on 53.6 percent shooting, 5.3 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.5 blocks in 25 minutes per game.

Sun Jan 19 201418:05Carl Landry (hip) will dress vs. OKC Sunday
Carl Landry (hip) will be in uniform on Sunday for the first time all season.
Even if Landry doesn't play, this marks a major milestone in his lengthy rehab from a torn hip flexor. His impending return spells trouble for the fantasy value of Jason Thompson and Derrick Williams.

Wed Jan 8 201410:41Carl Landry (hip) active in 3-on-3 scrimmages
Injured forward Carl Landry (hip) recently participated in 3-on-3 scrimmages for the first time this season, but CSNNW's Chris Haynes reports that he's "still a few weeks away."
"He's getting real, real close," said coach Mike Malone. Landry's return would give the Kings a much needed boost at the power forward position, where current starter Jason Thompson has been averaging a rather lackluster 7.5 points and 5.7 rebounds. Landry has been sidelined the entire season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn hip flexor.

Mon Dec 9 201321:58Carl Landry shooting in pre-game warmups
Carl Landry (hip) was taking free throws in Monday's pre-game warmups.
The Kings trading away their depth up front by sending Chuck Hayes and Patrick Patterson to Toronto should give Landry a give chance for minutes once he's back from his torn hip flexor. He can play facing the basket and is one of the better mid-range power forwards in the NBA, so he'll be an interesting player to stash. Landry does not have a timetable to return and his initial prognosis would have him back around January.

Mon Nov 25 201310:32Carl Landry (hip flexor) traveling w/ Kings
Carl Landry (torn hip flexor) is traveling with the Kings but he's not expected to play for at least another two months.
"[Landry can be] a part of our team camaraderie and chemistry, and kind of mentor some of the other guys," said coach Mike Malone. Jason Thompson has been starting at PF but he's averaging 6.3 points and 5.3 rebounds in under 20 minutes per game, while Patrick Patterson is chipping in 6.8 points and 4.9 boards in 24 minutes off the bench.

Mon Oct 14 201316:20Carl Landry (left hip flexor) out 3-4 months
Carl Landry suffered a tear to his left hip flexor and will miss the next 3-4 months.
Landry is going to have surgery on Tuesday after suffering the injury at training camp. It's a big blow to the Kings and they're not going to see immediate dividends from signing him to a four-year deal over the summer. Jason Thompson gets a big boost and is now a decent player to target near the end of drafts. Patrick Patterson should also see more playing time.

Sun Oct 13 201312:14Carl Landry still out with strained quad
Carl Landry has a strained quad and Kings coach Mike Malone expects him to return in "a short time."
"I believe they've gotten the MRIs done and the results," Malone said. "I'm waiting to speak with [director of sports medicine] Pete Youngman and [GM] Pete D'Alessandro about that." Landry's continued absence, even if it doesn't last much longer, has undermined his odds of winning the starting PF job ahead of Jason Thompson and Patrick Patterson.

Wed Oct 9 201316:21Carl Landry doubtful Thursday w/ quad injury
Carl Landry is doubtful for Thursday's preseason game due to a quad injury.
That may explain why he didn't play on Monday night. Landry will be battling Jason Thompson and Patrick Patterson for minutes this season, which isn't great news for any of the power forwards.

Tue Oct 8 201300:27Carl Landry gets the night off on Monday
Carl Landry didn't get off the bench on Monday night at Golden State.
It looks to be just a night off for the newly-acquired big man and there have been no reports of injury. Landry will compete with Jason Thompson for minutes, so he'll have a lower upside while providing solid percentages.

Sun Sep 1 201309:51Kings loaded w/ competition for PF minutes
The Kings hope to find playing time for all three of their PFs this season -- Jason Thompson, Patrick Patterson and Carl Landry.
Sacramento has plenty of competition at PF this year, which clouds the fantasy value of JT and Landry. Mike Malone hopes to see improved defense and rebounding from his corps of big men, which also includes DeMarcus Cousins and backup center Chuck Hayes.

Sat Jul 6 201316:27Kings get Carl Landry for four years, $26M
Carl Landry agreed to a four-year, $26 million contract with the Kings on Saturday, per his agent Mark Bartelstein..
The Kings finally got someone to join their team and Landry will return after a two-year hiatus. His first season with the Kings in 2009-10 was his best, averaging 18.0 points and 6.5 boards on 52.0 percent shooting from the field. He'll likely split time at power forward with Jason Thompson, so he'll lack enough upside to be targeted late in standard drafts.
