Steve Novak (rest) is not practicing on Monday.

It's being called a "recovery day" for Novak, presumably to rest his hot hand after he drained seven 3-pointers against the Wizards last week. Jokes aside, the sharpshooter is fine and is merely taking it easy at this time.

Novak hit a whopping 2.7 threes after the break last year and tonight is a reminder of how great he is at knocking down open shots. His range makes him an option in Roto leagues as an option to supplement the three-point made category.

We expect Novak to play the same role he did last season for fantasy owners as a 3-point specialist.

Details are sketchy, but he's healthy now and officially became a Knick on Thursday. He should be a designated 3-point shooter again this season, but don't look for him to contribute much in other areas.

Fantasy owners should keep him in mind as a specialist next season.

Carmelo Anthony, Jeremy Lin, Amare Stoudemire and J.R. Smith were dominating the offense, which put the squeeze on Novak. This was his first irrelevant game in his last eight, and now that Melo is healthy again, Novak could struggle for minutes. If you need his threes, hang in there with him, and hope that tonight was just a fluke. But signs are pointing to Novak seeing a diminished role when the Knicks are at full strength.
