Mon Oct 15 201211:32Steve Novak not practicing on Monday
Steve Novak (rest) is not practicing on Monday.
It's being called a "recovery day" for Novak, presumably to rest his hot hand after he drained seven 3-pointers against the Wizards last week. Jokes aside, the sharpshooter is fine and is merely taking it easy at this time.

Thu Oct 11 201222:07Novak catches fire with 7 triples on Thursday
Steve Novak hit all seven of his three-point attempts for 21 points in 32 minutes against the Wizards on Thursday.
Novak hit a whopping 2.7 threes after the break last year and tonight is a reminder of how great he is at knocking down open shots. His range makes him an option in Roto leagues as an option to supplement the three-point made category.

Thu Sep 6 201209:40Steve Novak worked on defense in offseason
Steve Novak said that he worked on his defense and his ability to shoot off the dribble during the offseason.
"I think for me, the thing I'm really focused on this summer was positioning--making sure I was always in the right spot," Novak said. "I feel like that's going to be my value defensively--being there to take a charge, being there for help," he added. About his offensive improvements, Novak said, "I knew I had to work on my one and two-dribble pullups." We expect Novak to play the same role he did last season for fantasy owners as a 3-point specialist.

Thu Jul 12 201217:48Steve Novak had stomach procedure
Steve Novak had a stomach procedure performed over the summer for a non-basketball related problem.
Details are sketchy, but he's healthy now and officially became a Knick on Thursday. He should be a designated 3-point shooter again this season, but don't look for him to contribute much in other areas.

Mon Jul 9 201215:17Knicks, Novak agree to four-year, $15m deal
The Knicks and free agent Steve Novak have agreed to a four-year, $15 million contract, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Novak is a six-year NBA veteran whose one specialty -- 3-point shooting -- has sustained his career. Last year was no exception, as the Knicks' sharp-shooter drained 2.5 threes per game (second-best in the league behind Ryan Anderson) while hitting at a 47.2 percent clip (easily the best in the league).

Mon Jul 2 201208:57Knicks feeling good about keeping Novak
The Knicks "feel good about their chances" of re-signing unrestricted free agent Steve Novak.
Novak was contacted by "nearly a dozen teams" according to his agent, but agent's regularly inflate the market for their clients so that number may not be accurate. In case the Knicks are unable to re-sign Novak and his discount doublecheck, the "back-up plan" is unrestricted free agent Anthony Tolliver, who spent last season with the Timberwolves.

Wed May 23 201215:47Steve Novak makes 137 threes, no layups
Steve Novak only attempted one shot within nine feet of the basket this season, which he missed.
On the other hand, Novak made 47.4% of his 289 3-pointers. The six-year veteran had a career year for New York, stepping up for injured teammates to average 8.8 points, 2.5 threes, 1.9 rebounds and 0.3 steals in 19 minutes per game. Fantasy owners should keep him in mind as a specialist next season.

Novak really came on as a long-range specialist this season, averaging a career-high 8.8 points per game while playing 2.5 3-pointers per night. "There's no place I would rather play than New York," he said. It's unclear if bringing Novak back is a priority for the Knicks right now. Mike Bibby, Landry Fields and Jared Jeffries are also free agents.

Thu May 3 201218:12Steve Novak starting at small forward
Steve Novak is starting at small forward in Thursday's Game 3 against the Heat.
Thanks to Amare Stoudemire's hand injury, the Knicks' starting lineup is juggled. They'll roll with Baron Davis, Landry Fields, Novak, Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler. J.R. Smith and Jared Jeffries will stick in bench roles. This is Novak's first career playoff start and fifth start ever in the NBA.

Sun Apr 22 201216:08Steve Novak takes just one shot in victory
Steve Novak scored just three points in 20 minutes of action on Sunday as the Knicks defeated the Hawks.
Novak connected on his lone three-point attempt, but was otherwise held in check all afternoon. He will probably bounce back next time out, but at this point, he's just not worth owning unless you are absolutely desperate for some 3s.

Fri Apr 20 201222:55Steve Novak drains five 3s in loss
Steve Novak scored 15 points (including five 3s) with one assist on Friday.
Novak shot 5-of-12 (all from downtown), but as usual, he didn't do much else. Owners who need three-point shooting should give him a look, but that's about it.

Tue Apr 17 201223:37Steve Novak hits eight 3-pointers in win
Steve Novak hit 8-of-10 shots, all of which were 3-pointers, on his way to 25 points in Tuesday's win over the Celtics.
He didn't do much else, and has been a model of inconsistency, scoring 25, 6, 18, 10 and 2 points in his last five games. If you're desperate for threes give him a look, but be prepared for some off nights, as well as a lack of stats in nearly every other category.

He's finally cooled off and was 0-for-4 in 17 minutes on Tuesday. Kyle Korver might be a better source of threes going forward.

Sat Mar 24 201200:44Novak hits five threes in loss to Raptors
Steve Novak hit five 3-point shots in Friday's blowout loss to the Raptors.
Novak finished with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting (5-of-9 from deep) with two rebounds and one assist in 25 minutes, and was the only Knickerbocker that could hit the barn tonight. He had a goose egg from distance on Wednesday, but has hit two or more threes in 4-of-5 games -- so give him a look if you're trolling for threes.

Steve Novak played just 10 minutes and finished with two points in Wednesday's win.
He played just 16 minutes in his previous two games and scored six in each of them. He's cooled off to the point he shouldn't be in fantasy lineups, unless you're simply desperate for threes.

Mon Mar 12 201223:59Novak hits just one three on Monday
Steve Novak hit just one 3-pointer on Monday, finishing with five points on 2-of-5 shooting and four rebounds in 14 minutes.
Novak has hit a bit of a wall shooting the 3-ball, with four games straight failing to hit more than two of them in a contest. Since that's his only calling card in fantasy leagues, owners will want to back off and try to time the next hot streak.

Sat Mar 10 201202:32Novak hits three triples in Friday's loss
Steve Novak continued to campaign for playing time with his play, hitting three triples for 11 points in 21 minutes off the bench.
Novak hit 4-of-8 shots overall and while he doesn't hit much besides threes, the Knicks always look better when he's on the floor. He has hit 3.6 threes per game over his last nine contests and is an elite source of 3-pointers right now.

Thu Mar 8 201201:41Steve Novak disappears on Wednesday
Steve Novak had just four points, four rebounds and one 3-pointer in 17 minutes of Wednesday's loss.
Carmelo Anthony, Jeremy Lin, Amare Stoudemire and J.R. Smith were dominating the offense, which put the squeeze on Novak. This was his first irrelevant game in his last eight, and now that Melo is healthy again, Novak could struggle for minutes. If you need his threes, hang in there with him, and hope that tonight was just a fluke. But signs are pointing to Novak seeing a diminished role when the Knicks are at full strength.
