Thu Mar 20 201414:21Cavs SF Sergey Karasev out w/ knee tendinitis
Sergey Karasev (knee tendinitis) will not play vs. the Thunder on Thursday.
This leaves the Cavaliers with nine healthy players, and with Luol Deng (ankle) among the wounded there should be plenty of playing time available for Alonzo Gee as the fill-in starting SF. Karasev won't be worth fantasy owners' attention even when he's completely recovered from his tendinitis.

Tue Mar 11 201411:10Cavs recall Sergey Karasev from D-League
Sergey Karasev has been recalled from the D-League by the Cavaliers.
Karasev has been effective in his time with the Canton Charge this season, but will likely again serve as emergency depth for the Cavs. The 20-year-old played 20 games with the Cavs this season and has only averaged 1.7 points in 7.3 minutes per game, so it goes without saying that his fantasy value is nonexistent.

Sat Nov 30 201302:46Karasev scores one point in start
Sergey Karasev was undressed in his first NBA start in Friday's loss to the Celtics, posting just one point with one steal and one assist in 15 minutes.
Karasev got punished on both ends of the floor and he's simply not ready for the NBA just yet. He's too slow to play shooting guard and he's not strong enough to play small forward.

Fri Nov 29 201318:19Sergey Karasev will get first start Friday
Sergey Karasev will get his first NBA start on Friday.
He's played 20.0 minutes per game, but only scored 5.5 points on 33.3 percent shooting in losses to the Heat and Spurs. Karasev has size at 6'7", but he doesn't really have much of a shot and hasn't really shown he can get penetrate defenses yet. Matthew Dellavedova will move back to the bench.

Fri Nov 29 201316:12Sergey Karasev could start on Friday
Coach Mike Brown could start Sergey Karasev at shooting guard on Friday.
The Cavs have been starting fellow rookie Matthew Dellavedova, but they might want to go with a little more size against the Celtics. Karasev has only scored 28 points in his 88 minutes of action this season and his preseason high was only 10 in 34 minutes, so it's not worth picking him up in just about any league. C.J. Miles is hoping to play on Saturday.

Tue Oct 29 201314:30Sergey Karasev (ankle) resumes practicing
Sergey Karasev (ankle) has been cleared to practice and is listed as questionable for Wednesday's opener.
The Cavs' rookie forward will need some time to regain his conditioning and adjust to playing in the NBA, but his sweet outside shooting may earn him bench minutes behind Earl Clark. With Alonzo Gee and C.J. Miles also pressing for minutes, however, fantasy owners should monitor Karasev from afar.

Wed Oct 23 201311:24Karasev (ankle) expected back in a few days
Sergey Karasev's sprained ankle "doesn't sound overly serious," according to beat writer Jason Lloyd.
The Cavs aren't very concerned and he should return to action within a few days, so presumably he'll be ready for opening night. The rookie averaged 16.1 points and 2.3 threes per game with Triumph Moscow last year, but the Cavs will only need him to mop up minutes behind Alonzo Gee, Earl Clark and C.J. Miles.

Mon Oct 21 201321:22Sergey Karasev suffers an ankle sprain
Sergey Karasev suffered an ankle sprain on Monday night and will not return.
He came off the bench and shot just 1-of-6 from the field. Karasev had a nice 10-point game last week, but he's not going to be in the rotation in his rookie season while the team is healthy.

Thu Oct 17 201322:19Sergey Karasev gets the start, plays 34 mins.
Sergey Karasev got the start at shooting guard with Dion Waiters (hip) out of the lineup, making 4-of-7 from the field for 10 points with three boards, one assist, one block and two 3-pointers in 34 minutes.
He did foul out, but looked pretty good on Thursday. Waiters and Jarrett Jack not playing had a lot to do with this output, so Karasev is really nothing more than emergency depth for the Cavs. Although, it's nice to see he can hit threes and block some shots.

Wed Aug 21 201314:58Cavs officially sign rookies Carrick, Karasev
The Cavaliers have officially signed rookies Sergey Karasev and Carrick Felix.
The Cavs now have 15 players under contract heading into training camp. Felix is unlikely to make a dent this year, while Karasev currently projects as the third-string SF behind Earl Clark and Alonzo Gee.

Tue Jul 23 201312:26Cavs swingman Karasev needs to bulk up
Cavaliers swingman Sergey Karasev admitted that he needs to gain weight and improve his physique as an NBA player.
"I'm not a stupid guy. I understand the game," said Karasev, who averaged 16.1 points while vying in the Eurocup with Triumph Moscow last season. "If I work, I think I'm going to have minutes." The Cavs want to start Anthony Bennett out as a PF before eventually shifting him to SF, and Karasev at least has a chance to erode the playing time of C.J. Miles and Alonzo Gee.

Wed Jul 17 201315:56Sergey Karasev wins gold at University Games
Sergey Karasev had 15 points, six rebounds and three assists as Russia won the gold medal at the 2013 University Games.
The Cavs drafted Karasev with the 19th overall pick in June's draft and the Russian swingman will join the NBA immediately. Karasev is expected to compete for rotational minutes immediately this season and could be a sneaky fantasy option in deeper leagues if he ends up with consistent minutes.
