Wed Aug 4 201023:19Hernandez expected to land on disabled list
David Hernandez (ankle) told reporters that he expects to land on the 15-day disabled list.
The right-handed reliever sprained his ankle in Wednesday's win over the Angels. Hernandez, 25, hasn't posted great numbers this season but he will be missed from what has been an inconsistent overall Orioles 'pen.

Sat Jun 19 201002:09Hernandez blows save for Orioles
David Hernandez took a blown save and a loss after giving up two runs in the ninth Friday against the Padres.
The Orioles managed to score a run off Heath Bell in the ninth to give themselves a 2-1 lead, but Hernandez allowed a walk and a single to start the bottom of the inning and then mishandled a sac bunt into a single. An infield single went on to score the tying run, and Adrian Gonzalez delivered the game-winner with two outs in the inning. It was just one bad night, so Hernandez figures to remain the favorite for saves in Baltimore.
Wed Jun 16 201001:20Orioles' Hernandez records second save
David Hernandez picked up his second save with a hitless ninth Tuesday against the Orioles.
So far, so good since Hernandez's move to the pen. Many believe he's belonged there all along. We think the Orioles played it right in giving him 27 starts over the last year, but short relief looks like his home now.
Thu Jun 10 201022:01Hernandez earns first save in win over Yanks
David Hernandez earned his first save of the season on Thursday with a scoreless ninth inning against the Yankees.
Hernandez was just named the O's temporary closer a few days ago and may vulture saves even when Alfredo Simon returns. He's definitely worth owning now and may be a valuable commodity through the next few weeks.
Thu Jun 10 201020:52Hernandez to man closer duties for Orioles
Orioles interim manager Juan Samuel said Thursday that David Hernandez is likely to get the majority of save chances moving forward.
At least until Alfredo Simon returns from the disabled list in about a week. "The ideal guy for me, if we get to it, will be Hernandez," Samuel said. "Since he was put in the bullpen, he looks so comfortable in that role. I don't know if it's something that is going to be his situation throughout his career, but right now he has done a tremendous job, and we feel comfortable with him in that role." Will Ohman will resume eight-inning setup duties.

Fri May 21 201022:38Hernandez gets win vs. Nats
David Hernandez hurled 5 1/3 scoreless innings in a 5-3 win over the Nationals on Friday night.
The only hit he gave up was a single by Miguel Batista in the fifth inning. Still, it wasn't as impressive as it looked. Hernandez threw just 59 out of 105 pitches for strikes while matching a season-high with five walks. He now owns an ugly 27/28 K/BB ratio over 42 1/3 innings this season. He simply shouldn't be looked at as a fantasy option, regardless of format.
Mon May 17 201020:27O's Hernandez hopes to make next start
David Hernandez (shoulder) hopes to make his next scheduled start against the Nationals on Friday.
Hernandez was scratched from his start on Sunday, but threw from 90 and 120 feet on Monday without any discomfort. He's expected to throw a side session on Tuesday. "I'm assuming if I come through that, I'll make my next start," said Hernandez. "I'm going to be fine." Hernandez is 0-5 with a 5.84 ERA and 1.65 WHIP over seven starts this season.

Tue May 11 201021:44Hernandez smoked again, falls to 0-5
David Hernandez fell to 0-5 by allowing five runs over 5 2/3 innings Tuesday night to the Mariners.
It's getting to be about the time that Baltimore should pull the plug on him. A home start against the Mariners, it was hoped, would turn around Hernandez, but that wasn't the case, as he walked four and allowed five hits. As Orioles fans pine for Jake Arrieta, Hernandez now sports a 5.84 ERA and 24/23 K/BB ratio in seven starts. It goes without saying, but he can't be trusted in any format at this point.
Fri Apr 30 201023:14Hernandez wild in no-decision
David Hernandez yielded two earned runs on just three hits over 5 1/3 innings against the Red Sox Friday night, but walked five.
Hernandez's starts this year have been mediocre at best, which is probably a fair label for him as a prospect. He's surprisingly avoided the long ball so far this year, but his ERA still stands at 4.55 and his record is 0-3. Hernandez is only on the radar in deep AL-only formats.
Fri Apr 16 201001:17Orioles' Hernandez takes loss to A's
David Hernandez surrendered five runs -- four earned -- in five innings Thursday night in a loss to the A's.
Hernandez turned in a quality start against the Jays his first time out, but he's now 0-2 with a 4.91 ERA, even though he's yet to allow a homer. It was the home run ball that killed him last year, as he gave up a whopping 27 while posting a 5.42 ERA in 101 1/3 innings.
