Gee is slated to open the year as the Mets' sixth starter, meaning he will be used as a long-man out of the bullpen and spot starter, Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com reports.

Gee is behind Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, Zach Wheeler, Jon Niese and Bartolo Colon in the starter pecking order. Gee was on the block all winter but the Mets did not find a match for him. As of now, he is slated to break camp with the team, but could be dealt late in the spring.

Gee agreed to a one-year, $5.3 million contract with the Mets on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com reports.

The Mets' Opening Day starter in 2014, Gee missed close to two months with a lat strain and struggled to a 5.10 ERA and .275 BAA in 13 second-half starts (77.2 innings). He'll receive a nice raise in salary regardless, though it may be another team that pays Gee his $5.3 million, as the Mets are said to be shopping him around.

The Mets are "aggressively shopping" Gee with the Rangers and Royals two potential suitors, ESPN New York reports.

Gee along with Bartolo Colon and Jonathon Niese are all in play with one starter to be moved by New York. It looks like Gee, who is expected to make around $5 million this year and under control for two more years, is the one who is being pushed the hardest by New York in any trade talks.

Gee didn't factor in the decision, but kept the Mets in the game through five innings. He didn't have swing-and-miss stuff Thursday, getting just two strikeouts on the day. Gee wasn't the same pitcher after returning from an injury part way through the season. He will finish the season with a 7-8 record, 4.00 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 94 strikeouts.

Gee allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks in 6.2 innings to pick up the defeat in the Mets' 4-3 loss to the Marlins on Wednesday.

Gee surrendered three runs the first two innings before settling down. He left the game with a runner on base, who came around to score and that run proved to be the difference in the game. Gee will get at least one and maybe two more starts to end what has been somewhat of a disappointing season for him after last year's breakthrough campaign.

Gee tossed six solid innings, allowing seven hits and three earned runs while striking out seven in a win over the Phillies on Sunday.

Though Gee's command has been letting him down lately, forcing higher pitch counts than he'd like -- he finished at 95 pitches on Sunday -- he was able to muster up seven strikeouts in the winning decision over Philadelphia. He'll take a 3.81 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 78:38 K:BB ratio through 113.1 innings into Saturday's road assignment in Cincinnati.

Gee held the Braves to two runs on six hits and two walks over 6.2 innings in Tuesday's win, improving his season record to 5-6.

Gee struggled initially after returning from the disabled list July 9, but he has since seemed to settle back into form, covering at least six innings in three of his last four starts. With the Mets giving him just enough run support Tuesday, Gee was able to escape with his first victory in eight starts. The infrequent wins -- along with his middling strikeout rate -- have still muted his fantasy impact of late, even as he's done well to keep the opposition off the board.

Gee pitched 5.2 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out four batters before picking up his sixth loss (4-6) of the year in Tuesday's game against the A's.

Gee has really struggled since coming off the DL on July 9, having posted just two quality outings in his eight starts since being activated. He has given up at least four runs in five of those starts. As a result Gee's ERA has risen from 2.73 to 3.84 since his activation. Gee will look to turn it around in his next start which is set for Tuesday at home against the Braves.

Gee didn't perform well in his last three starts during the month of July, but appeared to have corrected things with two great outings in August. The veteran righty is not going to overwhelm opposing hitters, and his strikeout rate has always been below average, but he normally doesn't get hammered either. He'll try to get back on track in his next start, pitching against a formidable Oakland lineup on the road.

Following a three-start stretch at the end of July where he gave up four-plus runs each time out, Gee has settled down against the Phillies and Giants in his last two turns. Gee finished Monday's matinee with a no-decision, allowing two runs in 5.2 innings against the Giants.

Gee walked three and allowed five hits while limiting the damage to just two runs. Things haven't exactly gone smoothly for the righty since the All-Star break, as his ERA has ballooned from 2.56 to 3.73 in his last four starts. Gee will look to get back on the winning track this weekend against the Phillies.

Dillon Gee fell to 4-4, allowing five runs in 6 2/3 innings as the Mets were shut out 6-0 in Tuesday's loss.

Gee had a decent start working for him, allowing only two runs on two solo home runs through six innings. In the seventh, he mixed base runners and outs, allowing Domonic Brown to reach on a single, hitting Ben Revere with a pitch, and walking Jimmy Rollins. Manager Terry Collins opted to bring in lefty reliever Josh Edgin to face the left-handed Chase Utley, but Utley deposited a grand slam into the upper deck in right field. Overall, Gee allowed five hits, walked three, and struck out two. He'll take a 3.77 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 53/21 K/BB ratio into Monday's start at home against the Giants.

Dillon Gee was hit hard in a loss to the Brewers on Thursday, allowing six runs over five innings.

The Brewers scored all six runs Gee allowed in the first three innings of the game, including four in the second. Overall, he allowed six hits (four of which went for extra bases), walked two, and struck out six. Gee's ERA rises to 3.49, and he has a 1.09 WHIP and a 51/18 K/BB ratio as well. He'll face the Phillies on the road in his next start.

Dillon Gee lost to the Padres after giving up four runs in five innings on Saturday.

Gee struck out eight and walked none, but he gave up a couple of solo homers and didn't get much help from his defense in a two-run third inning. The Mets' quick hook allowed him to extend his streak of 24 consecutive starts without giving up more than four runs.

In his first start since May 10, Dillon Gee held the Braves to one run over seven innings en route to his fourth win on Wednesday.

Gee had been out for nearly two months with a strained lat. His effort helped the Mets extend their winning streak to four games and they'll go for a series sweep against the Braves on Thursday. The right-hander held the Braves to six hits and a walk while striking out four. Gee, now 4-1, has a 2.56 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP, and a 37/16 K/BB ratio. He'll take the hill after the All-Star break, taking on the Padres in San Diego.

Mets activated RHP Dillon Gee from the 15-day disabled list.

Gee will make his return to the Mets' rotation on Wednesday against the Braves. The right-hander posted a 2.73 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 33/15 K/BB ratio over 52 2/3 innings before going down with a strained lat. He also put up a 1.69 ERA and 18/2 K/BB ratio over 10 2/3 rehab innings, so fantasy owners probably shouldn't shy away from using him.

Mets manager Terry Collins confirmed Sunday that Dillon Gee (lat) will rejoin the Mets starting rotation on Wednesday to take on the Braves.

Gee looked strong over three minor league rehab starts, giving the Mets management the full confidence that he's ready to return. It's unclear at the moment who will be bumped from the rotation to make room for him.
