Gee has been placed on outright waivers for the purpose of sending him to Triple-A Las Vegas after trade discussions fell apart, ESPN New York reports.
If Gee is not claimed, he will clear waivers at 1 p.m. ET Tuesday. As Gee has more than three years of major league service, he could refuse an assignment to Las Vegas if he clears waivers and declare free agency. However, he is unlikely to do so because he would lose the remaining $3.1 million on his salary still owed to him this season. If Gee does go to Las Vegas and is not promoted later in the season, he can declare free agency when the season ends.

Gee has struggled significantly this season, posting an ERA of 5.90 in 39.2 innings with a 25:11 K:BB ratio and a 1.66 WHIP. He should have no trouble catching on with another team in the coming days as he can still provide back of the rotation help for a number of teams.

Gee was bombed Sunday, allowing eight runs on 11 hits and a walk with four strikeouts in just 3.2 innings against Atlanta.
Some of the arguments for Gee's struggles have centered on his lack of routine given his uncertain role and dealing with a death in the family. Both are clearly true, but he has not been good most of the season and his hold on the sixth starter spot and maybe even a role in general is somewhat tenuous at best.

Gee has been activated from the bereavement list and will start Sunday's game against the Braves.
Gee had been attending to a death in the family, but will now turn his attention to getting his first victory of the season against Mike Foltnewicz and the Atlanta Braves. The right-hander has allowed eight runs (five earned) over 5.2 innings since being activated from a recent DL stint, but owns a lifetime 3.09 ERA against Sunday's opponent.

Gee (personal) is listed as the starter for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Adam Rubin of ESPN reports.
Gee, who was placed on the bereavement list Thursday following the death of his grandmother, will slot into the rotation Sunday, which pushes Noah Syndergaard's start to Monday against Toronto. Matt Harvey is then expected to take the hill Tuesday for the second game of the team's four-game set against the Blue Jays.

Gee was placed on the bereavement list Thursday following the death of his grandmother.
It has truly been a brutal month for Gee, as he was yanked around by the Mets and finally sent to the bullpen, which led to him openly questioning his worth both to the Mets and on the trade market. Now he will be away from the team for 3-7 days to tend to the personal matter.
Sat Jun 6 201519:16Dillon Gee: Moved To Bullpen
Gee has officially been removed from the Mets' rotation and he will work as a reliever until the next time a spot starter is needed, the New York Post's Mike Puma reports.
If the Mets were going to abandon the six-man rotation, Gee was the obvious candidate to lose his spot as he is quite clearly the lesser of the six pitchers. Gee will probably find his way to a handful of starts over the rest of the season, either via an injury to another starter or to help limit the innings of Noah Syndergaard or Matt Harvey.

Gee had pitched well his last three starts prior to the injury and looked good in his rehab outings but didn't carry that forward Wednesday. With the Mets now using a six-man rotation, Gee will now wait nearly a week to start, with his next outing Wednesday at home against the Giants. If Gee struggles again, the calls for Steven Matz to replace him in the rotation could get even louder.

Gee was originally expected to be activated this week, but the Mets will push that back a bit in preparation of using a six-man rotation at the start of June.
