RHP Luke Jackson was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday.

Jackson, the 45th overall draft pick in 2010, started the season on the disabled list with a back injury but said his back feels "perfect" now. Jackson, who was a starter before moving to the bullpen in May 2015, had a pair of stints with the Rangers last season. He went 0-0 with a 4.26 ERA in seven relief appearances, striking out six and walking two in 6 1/3 innings.

Jackson has electric stuff, and opened the year as a top-200 prospect for dynasty leagues, but he was quickly converted to a reliever as his command failed him. He could eventually find himself in high-leverage spots, but that probably won't happen until 2016 at the earliest.

Despite being up with the Rangers for nearly a week, Jackson never made an appearance with the big league ball club. Keone Kela was recalled by the Rangers in a corresponding move Tuesday.

Jackson will join Anthony Bass in coming up from Triple-A, and both players will be available out of the pen Friday in Seattle. The 23-year-old Jackson has never appeared in a major league game, and he holds a 4.05 ERA in 33 appearances at Round Rock. The number is a major improvement from the ugly 10.35 ERA he posted in 40.0 Triple-A innings in 2014.

Jackson has been converted to a reliever at Triple-A Round Rock and has a 2.66 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 32 strikeouts in 23.2 innings out of the bullpen.

It just wasn't working out for him as a starter, as he posted a 5.64 ERA in five starts at the outset of the season. This may actually end up making him somewhat interesting in fantasy, as he was losing his luster as a starting pitching prospect. His 32:13 K:BB ratio in 23.2 innings shows the kind of bat-missing stuff he brings to the table as a reliever, indicating that he could someday be used in high-leverage situations at the big league level.
