LHP Kyle Ryan continues to solidify his position at the back end of Detroit's bullpen. Manager Brad Ausmus has trusted him to finish off games that are just beyond the save region or to come in late and keep a game close to give the Tigers a chance to rally and win. Ryan got the last two outs of the ninth without incident, making it 14 times in his last 16 outings he has not allowed a run.

LHP Kyle Ryan was brought back to Detroit on Saturday night with the placing of RHP Jordan Zimmermann on the disabled list for the second time since the end of June. Ryan was just sent down but the mandatory 10-dayi stay in the minors is waived when a pitcher is put on the disabled list.

LHP Kyle Ryan was optioned to Triple-A Toledo. Ryan is 4-2 with a 3.18 ERA in 38 appearances with the Tigers this season.

LHP Kyle Ryan seems to have learned something from his jaunt to Toledo. Sent to the minors to sharpen up his breaking ball and learn to get better at getting left-handed batters out, Ryan has picked up two wins since returning to the Tigers earlier this week. He worked 1 ? without giving up a run Wednesday night and pitched a scoreless inning Thursday to gain another win. It wasn't without work, though, as Ryan snap threw a wild pickoff throw that put a runner on third with nobody out in the top of the 10th. "He created the problem," manager Brad Ausmus said, "but he did an outstanding job of getting out of it. In this series since he got called back up, he's been outstanding for us." Ryan got a groundout to third, a grounder to second with the runner tagged out in a rundown trying to score from third and then struck out Robinson Cano on three pitches.

LHP Kyle Ryan came into a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the fifth inning Wednesday night and came away with a victory. Ryan, protecting a 4-1 lead, worked a 1-2-3 sixth. "Kyle Ryan was definitely the key," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. "To come in with the bases loaded and get those two guys, one of them being Robinson Cano, that was an outstanding job. His second inning was real sharp as well." Ryan struck out pinch-hitter RF Franklin Gutierrez and got Cano to ground out to second to end the inning. He struck out two of the three batters he faced in the sixth.

LHP Kyle Ryan was sent back to Triple-A Toledo earlier this month to toughen up against left-handed hitters. He was brought in to face a lefty-laden Seattle lineup on Monday and worked two innings, allowing one hit and striking out two. "That was the whole reason he went to the minors," manager Brad Ausmus said. "To improve his approaches, getting lefties out. He went down to sharpen his breaking ball. His sinker can be a very effective pitch against lefties."

LHP Kyle Ryan, who had not allowed a run over eight appearances, covering seven innings, with Triple-A Toledo, was recalled. He replaces Blaine Hardy, who was optioned to the Mud Hens, as the second lefty in the bullpen. Ryan was sent to the minors on June 2 with left-handers hitting .364, 12-for-33, off him. "They didn't even have to tell me," Ryan said. "I understood that I was not getting left-handers out and that was my job at the time. And I wasn't doing my job. I got down there and I did what I needed to do; I worked. I got comfortable again throwing all of my pitches. We'll see how it goes, hopefully good." Ryan, however, suffered the loss in his first game back, retiring only one of the five batters he faced, walking two intentionally, in giving up a run on two hits in the 13th.

LHP Kyle Ryan was demoted to Triple-A Toledo after Thursday's game because he wasn't getting enough left-handed hitters out, according to manager Brad Ausmus. Left-handers have hit .364 with a .636 slugging percentage against Ryan in 33 at-bats. "He just needs to refine his breaking ball," Ausmus said. Ryan has appeared in 43 games for the Tigers over the last three seasons, including seven starts.

He has appeared in 21 games this season with Detroit, posting a 1-1 record and 3.10 ERA. Ryan was a victim of circumstance, as the Tigers wanted a fresh left-handed arm in the bullpen against the Chicago White Sox this weekend.

LHP Kyle Ryan was the choice of manager Brad Ausmus to finish Detroit's 4-0 Friday home opening victory over the New York Yankees. Ryan allowed a leadoff single but retired the next three including strikeouts of the final two. "I thought Kyle did a nice job," Ausmus said. "Even more important, in those four-run, five-run games, you can't continually call on (Justin) Wilson, (Mark) Lowe and (Francisco) Rodriguez. They'll be burned out by June. You want to try to give these guys days off. It kind of goes unheralded, but what Kyle Ryan did was very important to the bullpen."

Ryan was the tough-luck loser Monday afternoon in a 2-0 loss to the White Sox. He went 7.0 innings, allowing just six hits, one walk and two earned runs. He struck out two.

Jeff Samardzija was sparkling Monday and held the Tigers to just one hit. It was really too bad, as Ryan put together what was arguably his best start with the team.

Ryan has been recalled from Triple-A Toledo.

Ryan, a 23-year-old left-hander, posted a 4.19 ERA over 17 starts at Triple-A Toledo this season. He'll join the Tigers as the rosters expand for the final month of the regular season, likely in the role as a lefty out of the bullpen.

Ryan will join the Tigers from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.

Ryan has struggled in both Triple-A and in the majors, posting a 5.94 ERA with the Tigers and a 4.19 ERA for Triple-A Toledo. With the rosters expanding on Tuesday, the 23-year-old Ryan should provide extra bullpen depth for the final month of the season.

Ryan was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Friday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Ryan was the odd man out following Miguel Cabrera's activation from the disabled list, and he'll return to the minors as a result. While he's struggled in many of his outings this season, he pitched a solid 1.1 innings of relief his last time out, allowing just one hit while striking out one. The 23-year-old could be considered again for a September call-up to pitch out of the bullpen once again.

Ryan was recalled from Triple-A Toldeo on Monday, James Schmehl of MLive Media Group reports.

After Ian Krol got shelled on Sunday, Ryan gets the call back up from Triple-A. Ryan's bounced between the majors and Triple-A all season, holding a 6.19 ERA in 32.0 innings with the Tigers and a 4.75 ERA in 83.1 innings with Triple-A Toldeo.

Ryan was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Monday.

Ryan allowed three runs on five hits in just 1.2 innings of work Sunday, likely leading to his demotion Monday. The club has decided to give Buck Farmer another shot in his place, but Ryan likely remains one of the top options for a recall should another injury occur.

Ryan was lit up Sunday in 1.2 innings of relief against the Red Sox. He gave up five hits and three earned runs, but he did strike out two.

The last time things didn't go well he ended up being optioned back to Triple-A, so we don't know if he'll suffer the same fate after this one. To give him some credit, the Tigers aren't playing well, so it's not like he's sticking out on an otherwise solid squad.

Ryan was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

Ryan's last major league appearance didn't go very well, giving up five runs in 2.2 innings then getting designated for assignment. There's no formal indication on what starting spot or role he will take, but there's good chance he's being brought in to cover Alfredo Simon, who suffered a groin strain Saturday.

Ryan gave up five runs on six hits over 2.2 innings while striking out two and walking one against the Mariners on Tuesday night. After the start, Ryan was optioned to Triple-A Toledo.

An Austin Jackson grand slam and a solo homer from Franklin Gutierrez chased the Tigers' starter from Tuesday's game before he could complete the bottom of the third inning. Shane Greene has pitched well in two of his four starts at Triple-A Toledo, so he may be summoned back from the minors for Ryan's previously scheduled turn Sunday in Minnesota. Buck Farmer was recalled by the Tigers in the corresponding move Tuesday night.

Ryan (1-2) needed 94 pitches just to get through four innings Thursday in a loss to the Pirates, giving up two runs on three hits and five walks while striking out four.

Frankly, Ryan was fortunate to escape with just the two runs in such an inefficient outing. The results have simply not been there for Ryan, who's proven untrustworthy in nearly any fantasy format, but the Tigers have a lack of back-of-the-rotation options to replace him. With a hugely inflated 1.45 WHIP that promises more bad times to come, he's as risky a roll as you'll find in fantasy right now. On the bright side, his next start is scheduled to come in pitcher-friendly Seattle on Tuesday.
