From a fantasy perspective, Stoudemire's value shouldn't undergo a drastic change, but his acquisition will likely result in fewer minutes for Greg Smith and Al-Farouq Aminu.

The buyout has been rumored for weeks, and the leading contenders to sign Stoudemire are the Mavericks and the Clippers. He'll likely come off the bench for whichever team he signs with, so a significant increase in minutes seems rather unlikely. Stoudemire's departure will free up a few more minutes in a frontcourt that includes Jason Smith, Lou Amundson, Cole Aldrich, Andrea Bargnani and Quincy Acy.

He's averaging 8.2 points and 4.0 rebounds over the last four games and has struggled to make an impact in fantasy. He played well early in the season, but health concerns should keep him locked on the wire in most leagues.

Though he's played more than 30 minutes many times this season, it was expected that he would see only limited court time Friday. Stoudemire has exceeded expectations so far this season. While he should always be treated as an injury risk, he can be highly productive during his healthy stretches.

On a positive note, Stoudemire appears to have moved past the knee swelling that plagued him earlier in the season, but he's expected to be on an unofficial minutes restriction of about 20 minutes when he returns. "There's evidence to show we need to be smarter on the type of load we place on Amar'e," coach Derek Fisher said.
