OF Ben Revere was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with a right oblique strain. Washington recalled OF Matt den Dekker from Triple-A Syracuse. Revere was hitless in two at-bats on Tuesday and left in the fourth inning after feeling a pain in his side.

The Jays seem to have finally realized that Troy Tulowitzki should be in the heart of the order, not the leadoff spot, while Revere -- owner of a career-high .343 OBP this season -- has been thriving since being moved to the top of the lineup. Expect plenty more steals and runs over the season's final month if he can hold that spot.

Revere is leading off for the Jays on Sunday, marking the first time he's been in that spot on a day when Troy Tulowitzki is also in the lineup.

Perhaps it's a sign of things to come from the Toronto lineup, as Tulowitzki is penciled into the fifth spot for Sunday's matchup against the Tigers. Revere has posted a .330/.380/.363 line with one stolen base and 17 runs scored through 25 games with the Jays since being acquired at the non-wavier trade deadline.

Finally. The Jays acquired Revere at the deadline, and he's hit well for them, with a .301 average since coming over, but he hadn't even attempted a steal in his first 22 games with Toronto. Maybe this one will open the floodgates.

This was by far Revere's best game for Toronto as he has really been struggling since the trade. His hard contact rate is at a dreadful seven-percent with the Blue Jays and he'll need to fix that if he wants to continue to produce. Revere has also failed to record a steal since joining the Blue Jays, which is the main reason why he is owned in most fantasy leagues. If he doesn't start stealing, his ownership percentage will plummet over the final two months of the season.

Revere is starting in left field and batting leadoff for his Blue Jays debut against the Royals.

Revere was initially expected to platoon in left field with Danny Valencia and back up center field, but Valencia's surprise designation for assignment means Revere could be an everyday left fielder. There's no indication Revere will be the everyday leadoff hitter since Troy Tulowitzki is out Saturday, but if he is, expect one of the most run-friendly situations in the league for the young outfielder.

Revere was traded to the Blue Jays on Friday for Jimmy Cordero and Alberto Tirado.

The two teams confirmed the trade, and while he's not a Troy Tulowitzki or David Price, Revere's addition is a significant boost to the Blue Jays' depth. It remains to be seen what kind of role Revere will take on, but he figures to play only on a part-time basis between left field and center.

The return for Philadelphia is uncertain, but it sounds like the Jays have landed Revere, who will bolster the team's outfield depth and team speed. Chances are, Revere's playing time will be reduced with his new club, as both Chris Colabello and Kevin Pillar have played well enough to warrant significant roles, but Revere should still see opportunities to run and will have the league's best offense around him when in there.

The Phillies will give Revere the night off Saturday and deploy Odubel Herrera in center field against the Giants. Revere has been heating up lately after a rough start; he batted .346 in June and is carrying a batting average of .391 thus far in July.

Revere has been on the bench the last four games due to mild tightness in his hamstring, but it appears the time off has remedied the issue. The speedy outfielder is holding down a strong .291 batting average on the season, but his .328 on-base percentage isn't especially ideal for a leadoff man. He could be a trade chip for the Phillies as the deadline approaches.

Revere has now sat in three straight contests, while Odubel Herrera has made four consecutive starts in center field. Even considering the recent trend, Revere is 0-for-9 against Atlanta starter Shelby Miller in his career, so that may have factored into the decision as well. Manager Pete Mackanin will instead use an outfield composed of Cody Asche (left), Herrera (center) and Dominic Brown (right).

Revere is out of the lineup for the second game of Sunday's doubleheader with the Nationals.

Both the Nationals and Phillies are resting several key regulars who were in the lineup for Game 1. After he went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in the earlier contest, Revere will give way in center field to Odubel Herrera for the nightcap.
