Williams will not be waived or bought out this offseason, per GM Billy King, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports.

Williams has two years and more than $43 million remaining on his contract, leading to some speculation that the cap-strapped Nets could pull a Josh Smith maneuver and buy out the deal, using the stretch provision to spread out the yearly cap hit. Doing so would save Brooklyn some cash in the short-term, but they'd subsequently be paying Williams nearly $9 million per year for five seasons to not play for them. It's simply too costly of a move, so it looks as though Williams will be back in Brooklyn for at least one more season. The contract would presumably be much easier to send off in a trade next summer when it transitions to an expiring deal.

Williams appeared in 68 games in 2014-15, making 55 starts and averaging 13.0 points, 6.6 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game.

Williams, who turns 31 in June, continues to experience a fairly drastic statistical regression exacerbated by a series of injuries. The former-All-Star's numbers have dropped every season since the franchise moved to Brooklyn, and he bottomed out in 2014-15, posting his lowest per-game scoring average since his rookie season and the lowest field goal percentage (38.7) of his career. Williams got off to a strong start, averaging 17.8 points and 6.3 assists on 45.3 percent shooting in November, but his numbers quickly curtailed, and he was pulled from the starting lineup in mid-December. Williams is not expected to be bought out this offseason, NBA.com reports.

Williams' rapid decline over the past couple of seasons has sparked speculation that the Nets may look to buy him out of his deal. While that would save the team money in the long-term, assuming the Nets use the stretch provision, they would end up paying Williams roughly $43 million not to play. According to David Aldridge, that's not something the Nets are interested in doing, so if they're looking to part ways with Williams, it will have to be via trade, which seems unlikely. Williams is on the books for $21 million in 2015-16 and holds a $22.3 million player option for the 2016-17 season.

Williams posted 13 points, five rebounds, and four assists in 27 minutes of action in Game 6 against the Hawks.

Williams is coming back from a five-point performance in Game 5, and while Game 6's outing was better, it wasn't good enough to help prevent the Nets from losing the series. Expect Williams to head into the offseason motivated to work hard.

Williams scored five points (2-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT) with six rebounds, six assists and one steal in 32 minutes during Wednesday's Game 5 loss to the Hawks.

After coming off a playoff high 35 points in Game 4, Williams could not get it going in this game. He was even benched late in the last quarter with coach, Lionel Hollins, turning to Jarrett Jack who got hot off the bench scoring 18 points. The Nets will need to win Game 6 at home Friday to keep the series alive.

Williams (knee) is in the starting lineup for Monday's Game 4 against the Hawks, Mike Mazzeo of ESPN reports.

Williams was limited in Game 3 by what teammate Joe Johnson called "severe knee tendinitis," but it appears he'll play through the ailment Monday. The veteran has turned in some decent all-around performances in the playoffs thus far - he's averaging 7.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists for the series - but he's struggled to score the ball, going just 2-of-15 from the field in Games 2 and 3. If Williams' knee becomes an issue Monday, expect Jarrett Jack to pick up his minutes.

Williams (back) is dealing with "severe" tendinitis according to his teammate Joe Johnson, the New York Daily News reports.

This news comes after Williams sat on the bench through the fourth quarter of Game 3 against the Hawks. At this point Williams should be considered a game-time decision for Game 4 on Monday. Fellow point guard Jarrett Jack is in line to compensate for Williams if the tendinitis is a factor yet again Monday and moving forward.

Williams said after Saturday's Game 4 that he didn't play in the fourth quarter in part because he was dealing with back soreness, Mike Mazzeo of ESPN reports.

Williams still logged 26 minutes of action Saturday but his inability to play in the fourth quarter is certainly concerning. Coach Lionel Hollins didn't necessarily qualify Williams' back soreness as the reason why he wasn't sent onto the court in the fourth quarter, so there may also be an internal disagreement between the two of them. Either way, Williams is a risky option moving forward with a sore back or with an unfavorable coaching situation.

Williams posted a double-double in 37 minutes Monday against Portland as he scored 24 points (8-18 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT) to go along with six rebounds and 10 assists.

Williams has now posted a double-double in two of his last three games and is helping the Nets make a big push for the playoffs. He has provided extra value from behind the arc as well as he has made 15 three-pointers over his last four games. Finally healthy, Williams is giving his fantasy owners a boost down the stretch.

Williams scored a season-high 31 points (11-18 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 4-4 FT) and doles out 11 assists in the win over Toronto on Friday.

Williams has played extremely well in the Nets' last two games. He has provided 57 points, nine 3-pointers, and 18 assists in wins over the Knicks and Raptors. It didn't hurt that Toronto was without Kyle Lowry (back). Williams will have a greater challenge Saturday against the Hawks.

Williams scored 26 points (11-21 FG, 4-7 3Pt) with seven rebounds, seven assists and one steal in 34 minutes during Wednesday's win over the Knicks.

The Nets have now won five in a row and are still in the hunt for a playoff spot. Williams is averaging 13 points, 5.2 rebounds, 8.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.6 threes over this period and while healthy is still getting it done.

Williams had 11 points (4-6 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-3 FT), eight assists, six rebounds and two steals in 30 minutes on Tuesday.

Williams had an illness that forced him to miss Monday's practice but played well on Tuesday against the Pacers. He didn't record a turnover after averaging 3.3 in his four games leading up to this one.

Williams was present at Tuesday's shootaround after missing Monday's practice due to illness, Andy Vasquez of The Record reports.

The illness doesn't look to be anything serious, and unless Williams' condition goes downhill during the afternoon, he'll be in the starting lineup at point guard Tuesday versus Indiana. Williams is coming off of a 13-point, nine-rebound performance against the Lakers on Sunday.

Williams has had a rather solid stretch of games, averaging 11.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.0 three-pointers made over the last five contests. He's worth owning in most leagues as long as he's healthy.

Williams was held out of practice Saturday, so it's possible that he's not completely over the sickness that held him out Saturday. If Williams plays fewer minutes Sunday, they will likely go to Jarrett Jack, though Jack likely won't get enough playing time to be a viable option either.

Williams was quiet in Friday's win over the Cavs, but he registered double-digit assists in each of the previous two games. While his numbers are still down considerably across the board, he's still an excellent passer and consistently produces solid assist numbers (6.4 per game in March). If he's held out Sunday, Jarrett Jack would likely enter the starting lineup in his place.

It's hard to say whether or not this means Williams will miss Sunday's game against the Lakers, but the odds can't be good. He's been on a decent streak as of late, so the Nets are going to want him even if he isn't 100 percent.

Williams scored 10 points (2-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 5-5 FT) with 14 assists and seven rebounds in 31 minutes during Wednesday's win over the Hornets.

That's back-to-back near triple-doubles for Williams, who appears to be coming alive as the Nets try to stay afloat in the Eastern Conference playoff race. His scoring is still inconsistent, but as long as he's racking up assists and contributing in other categories, he'll keep his fantasy owners happy.

Williams scored 20 points (7-15 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 5-5 FT) with two rebounds, six assists and one steal in 28 minutes during Wednesday's loss to the Cavaliers.

This was a solid line from Williams given the one-sided score line. Williams is a shut down candidate as the Nets fall further out of playoff contention. Owners should consider a contingency plan should this occur.

Williams scored 18 points (6-10 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT) with four rebounds, four assists and two steals in 32 minutes during Wednesday's loss to the Heat.

He also committed six turnovers and five fouls, so owners in leagues that have more than the usual categories may have been less than pleased with Williams' efforts. After scoring a combined 25 points in his previous three games, however, they may just be relieved to see Williams find his shot again.
