Hill went 2-for-4 and stole his fifth base of the year Sunday in a loss to San Francisco.
Hill is having one of the worst season's of his career, batting just .220/.285/.328 while playing part-time at second and third base. He will start regularly against left-handers, but has only managed to post a .235/.288/.279 mark with the platoon advantage. He would normally be a candidate to move at the trading deadline, but it's not obvious that there will be a market for the veteran.

Hill went 1-for-3 with his fourth home run, a two-run shot, Wednesday in a loss to the Dodgers.
Hill has had a pretty rough season at the plate, posting just a .224/.284/.333 line to this point, but continues to get starts at second and third base a few times per week. With Chris Owings unable to grab the second base job for himself, Hill should keep getting at-bats as a part-time player despite his struggles.

Hill is in the lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers, batting fifth as the second baseman.
After Chris Owings got two straight starts at second base, Hill will dig in Wednesday against Dodgers' lefty Brett Anderson. Hill is only 3-for-13 lifetime against Anderson and is batting .264 overall against lefties on the season.
Sun Jun 14 201513:19Hill not in lineup Sunday against Giants
Hill is not in the lineup Sunday against the Giants.
Hill has made his way into the lineup for three straight games, but will take a seat Sunday with Chris Owings at second base and Jake Lamb at third. Look for Hill to continue to see sporadic playing time in a crowded infield.
Sun Jun 14 201512:53Hill 0-3 with walk in Saturday's win over Giants
Hill went 0-for-3 with a walk in Saturday's win over the Giants.
Starting against a right-handed pitcher for the first time since May 30, Hill's role has fallen into that of a small-side platoon player. With Jake Lamb's return from the disabled list, there are fewer plate appearances to go around in the Arizona infield. In 50 games this season, Hill is hitting .233/.293/.336 with three homers and 15 RBI over 137 at-bats.
Wed May 13 201512:16Hill will start at third base Wednesday for second straight day
Hill will start at third base Wednesday for the second straight day.
Hill and Yasmany Tomas have split the third base duties over the last eight games, and Wednesday's contest will be the third out of four in which Hill has started. Hill is sizzling this month (going 13-for-28 (.464) with three home runs and eight RBI through nine games.

Hill went 3-for-5 from the plate Tuesday against the Nationals, driving in two runs and scoring two of his own.
Hill's average jumped by .022 points Tuesday. He came into the night hitting just .260. Hill doesn't do one thing particularly well, but he's having a good all-around season, posting a slash line of .282/.449/.782.

Hill continued his recent success on Sunday, going 1-for-3 with a solo home run versus the Padres.
After a putrid start to the season Hill has really turned it around of late and has gone 10-for-21 with three home runs, six RBI, five runs scored and a stolen base over his past seven games. Hill is currently a part-time player but could earn even more playing time at second base if middle infielders Nick Ahmed and Chris Owings continue to underachieve.

Hill went 0-for-1, but had three walks and a run scored, Friday in a win over San Diego.
Hill continues to turn around his season at the plate, posting a .407/.467/.667 line over his last 27 at-bats. He will still be a part-time player until either Nick Ahmed or Chris Owings is demoted, but he is showing that he can have some value in deeper leagues.

Hill went 2-for-4 with a double and his first stolen base of the season in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against Colorado.
Hill played third base in this one after starting at second in the first game. In total, Hill went 6-for-9 in the doubleheader Wednesday, starting both games, and raised his batting line to .262/.294/.400. While he hasn't claimed a starting gig yet, he is going to keep pushing Chris Owings and Yasmany Tomas for playing time if he hits. He could be someone to target on the cheap in deep and NL-only leagues.
Wed May 6 201519:42Hill 4-5 with second home run of season, run scored, and four RB...
Hill was 4-for-5 with his second home run of the season, a run scored, and four RBI in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Rockies.
Hill is finally showing some signs of life at the dish with hits in five straight games. Wednesday's performance pushed his average up to .246, the first time all year he has been above the Mendoza line. Hill continues to get periodic playing time at second and third base, but has not claimed a starting job yet. That may change if he gets hot.
Sun May 3 201511:53Hill 1-4 with first home run of season Saturday against Dodgers
Hill went 1-for-4 with his first home run of the season Saturday against the Dodgers.
Hill was designated for a bench role coming out of spring training, but has still received 57 plate appearances to date. Unfortunately, he hasn't done much with them, posting a .185/.228/.278 line with just three extra-base hits. Following on a tough year last season, despite Saturday's home run, it is starting to look like Hill doesn't have much left in the tank.
Mon Apr 27 201516:22Hill out of lineup again Monday against Rockies
Hill is out of the lineup again Monday against the Rockies.
Hill continues to split starts with Yasmany Tomas at third base in the absence of Jake Lamb, but Monday marks the first back-to-back starts for Tomas. It's unclear if this could be a shift moving forward, but the lineup Tuesday could provide a better picture.
Sun Apr 26 201514:35Hill will be out of lineup Sunday against Pirates
Hill will be out of the lineup Sunday against the Pirates.
Though Jake Lamb's move to the disabled list earlier this week seemed to open the door for more at-bats at third base for Hill, the Diamondbacks remain interested in experimenting with Yasmany Tomas at the position. Expect the two players to share duties until one stumbles into a hot streak at the plate.
Fri Apr 24 201516:30Hill out of lineup Friday
Hill is out of the lineup Friday.
Yasmany Tomas gets the start at third, but he won't play there everyday and with Jake Lamb out two-to-three weeks, Hill should still see at least a couple starts at the hot corner each week.
Wed Apr 22 201516:56Hill will start at third base and bat fifth Wednesday against Ra...
Hill will start at third base and bat fifth Wednesday against the Rangers.
With Jake Lamb set to miss at least 2-to-3 weeks with a stress reaction in his left foot, the door is open for Hill to see regular time at third base. Yasmany Tomas got the start Tuesday and went 2-for-3 with a run scored, but he also had some issues in the field, and it seems likely he will play second fiddle to Hill in the weeks ahead.
Fri Apr 17 201518:59Hill not in Friday
Hill is not in the Friday, MLB.com's Steve Gilbert reports.
Jake Lamb will start at third base while Chris Owings will start at second base, leaving Hill as the odd man out Friday. It seems that more often than not Hill will be playing either third or second for Arizona, but their infield depth will allow them to showcase their versatility at times and that can result in him sitting when there's a better matchup for someone else.
Sun Apr 12 201513:18Hill 0-4 with strikeout Saturday in 6-0 win over Dodgers
Hill went 0-for-4 with a strikeout Saturday in a 6-0 win over the Dodgers.
After being sent to the bench at the end of spring training, Hill has started four of the Diamondbacks first five games thanks to Manager Chip Hale's use of platoons and days off. Hill has started slowly, going 4-for-17 (.235) at the plate without drawing a walk and knocking just one extra-base hit. That said, with Chris Owings and Nick Ahmed struggling at the plate, and third baseman Jake Lamb sitting against lefties thus far, there should still be plenty of at-bats for Hill in the coming weeks. Surprisingly, if you drafted Hill as a starter, that's pretty much what you've gotten.
Sun Apr 12 201512:58Hill not in lineup Sunday for Arizona against Dodgers
Hill is not in the lineup Sunday for Arizona against the Dodgers.
This comes as a surprise, as Chris Owings is also out of the lineup and Hill was the logical backup. It's hard to say whether Hill really needed a day off, the Diamondbacks value Sunday's starter Cliff Pennington over Hill, or they want to do something else with him.
Wed Apr 8 201517:04Hill not in Diamondbacks' lineup Wednesday against Giants
Hill is not in the Diamondbacks' lineup Wednesday against the Giants.
The former All-Star was named to a bench role days prior to the opener, but Hill ended up starting the first two games for Arizona, once at third base and once at second. Chris Owings will return to the keystone Wednesday, but it seems manager Chip Hale may try to find opportunities for Hill moving forward, perhaps with the hope of building up his trade value.
