Sun Feb 3 201300:48Hickson scores 21 points, grabs 11 rebounds
J.J. Hickson scored 10 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter on Saturday, adding 11 rebounds as he propelled the Blazers to a win over the Jazz.
He sank 6-of-11 FGs and 9-of-11 FTs, with two assists, one steal and one block. And as noted by the Blazers' PR department, he has "scored at least 11 points and shot at least 50% FG in 10 straight games, tied for the 3rd longest streak in the NBA this year." Inconsistency used to be the biggest knock on Hickson's game, so this says a lot about his work ethic.

Wed Jan 30 201301:33J.J. Hickson with another big double-double
J.J. Hickson had 26 points, 15 rebounds, a steal and two blocks on 9-of-13 shooting in Tuesday's comeback win over the Mavs.
Hickson is alone in third place in the NBA with 25 double-doubles this season, while teammate LaMarcus Aldridge sits at No. 9 with 22 of them. There have been some trade rumors swirling about Hickson, but owners just have to batten down the hatches and hang in there with him, as he's averaging 17 points and 10 rebounds over his last five games, 13 points and 10 boards in January, and 13 points and 11 boards on the season. If he wasn't the steal of your draft (or waiver pickup), he's at least in the conversation.

Sun Jan 20 201301:01Hickson posts 15 & 12 in limited minutes
J.J. Hickson scored 15 points and hauled in 12 rebounds on Saturday, adding one steal and one block in just 24 minutes of action.
He wasn't in foul trouble, but reserve F Luke Babbitt was opening things up offensively and this late-game disappearing act isn't new. Last Sunday vs. OKC, Hickson was benched for the final 16 minutes, but he was back on the court in crunch time vs. the Nuggets on Tuesday and the Cavaliers on Wednesday. In the aggregate he's a reliable late-middle round option, though we sure wish Terry Stotts would stop toying with his minutes.

Thu Jan 17 201307:47Report: Teams inquiring on J.J. Hickson
A source told CSN Northwest that teams have been calling the Blazers about J.J. Hickson's availability.
It isn't a surprise. Hickson is on a very affordable one-year deal, and there are a number of teams that could use his services. The Blazers have a nice trade chip should they look to move Hickson before the February 21 deadline, but because Hickson is a Birds Rights player on a one-year deal, he has the power to veto any trade. If he accepts a trade, he will lose his Bird Rights.

Tue Jan 15 201323:42J.J. Hickson double-doubles in OT loss
J.J. Hickson had 19 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks in Tuesday's overtime loss to the Nuggets.
Hickson hadn't scored more than eight points in his previous three games, but is still a double-double waiting to happen every night, and should remain in all starting lineups until further notice.

Fri Jan 11 201302:11Lillard and Hickson have off games Thursday
Damian Lillard was quiet in Thursday's 92-90 win against the Heat with 10 points, three boards, eight assists, two steals and two 3-pointers.
He still didn't let owners down with the production in steals and threes and the eight assists were above his season average of 6.5 per game. Lillard is a stud and he might be one of the hardest players to trade away since he's so much fun to watch. J.J. Hickson also had an off game, shooting 3-of-11 from the field for eight points with 10 boards. He's a must-own player and his shooting is vastly improved, making 46.0 percent of his jumpers this year, which is up from the 33.2 percent he made last year.

Tue Jan 8 201303:22Hickson goes for 20 &15; Matthews scores 24
J.J. Hickson scored 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting with 15 rebounds and one block in the Blazers' 125-119 overtime win over the Magic on Monday.
This marked Hickson's 10th straight double-double at home and he has grabbed seven or more rebounds in 16 straight games. He has some issues with peripheral stats that weight his value down, but he is unchallenged for minutes right now and playing with great energy. Wesley Matthews scored 24 points and hit four treys, and Damian Lillard scored 18 points with 10 assists and two steals in the win.

Sat Jan 5 201323:46J.J. Hickson shoots 1-of-10 vs. Minnesota
J.J. Hickson grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked two shots vs. Minnesota, but he made just 1-of-10 field goals to tie his season low with two points.
Foul trouble wasn't the culprit, and Minny played much of the game without Nikola Pekovic (hip) -- as Hickson's shot chart attests, he simply missed a lot of easy shots. The league's sixth-highest rebounder (10.8) is shooting an impressive 56.2 percent from the field this year, and he's been too good to think this will become a prolonged slump.

Sat Jan 5 201303:43Hickson posts 19th double-double w/ 19 & 11
J.J. Hickson scored 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting with 11 rebounds, one steal, and two blocks in the Blazers' road win over the Grizzlies on Friday.
Hickson struggles at the foul line and doesn't block or steal the ball very much, so he needs big double-double nights to enhance his value. This was his 19th double-double on the year, which has helped to push him into the top-100 on the season for 8- and 9-cat formats. Damian Lillard hit just 5-of-14 shots but finished with 11 points, five boards and eight assists, and Nic Batum scored 11 points with five rebounds, four assists, and three steals in the win.

Wed Jan 2 201321:46J.J. Hickson has off night in ugly loss
J.J. Hickson had just two points and seven rebounds in 28 minutes of Wednesday's loss to the Raptors.
Hickson has been on a tear, racking up 18 double-doubles this season and had 18 points and nine boards in his last game. The Blazers simply weren't ready to play tonight and got ambushed by the Raptors, so don't read too much into this one. Hickson will be fine.

Sun Dec 30 201201:18J.J. Hickson posts 16 & 13 in win vs. Sixers
J.J. Hickson bounced back quickly from Friday's poor effort, scoring 16 points with 13 rebounds and two steals vs. the 76ers.
LaMarcus Aldridge's return hasn't slowed down Hickson, whose 18 double-doubles tie him with Dwight Howard for third-most in the NBA this season. Take a guess who the two leaders are, then follow the link.

Sat Dec 29 201205:23Hickson gets eaten up by the Lakers
J.J. Hickson got eaten up by Dwight Howard and the Lakers on Friday, missing all seven field goal attempts to finish with two points, eight rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block in 18 minutes.
The Blazers got rung up tonight and Hickson wasn't the only one to struggle, as Damian Lillard hit just 4-of-17 shots for 11 points with four assists, and outside of Nicolas Batum (10 points, five rebounds, eight assists, one block) and LaMarcus Aldridge (26 points, three rebounds) the team had no real firepower.

Thu Dec 27 201202:55J.J. Hickson double-doubles again for Blazers
J.J. Hickson kept his double-double streak alive with 17 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks on Wednesday, good for his ninth straight double-double.
He's going off for the Blazers and is one of the fantasy steals of the season. Keep him on your team and in your lineup, as it looks like he might keep doing this all year long.

Sun Dec 23 201223:40Hickson extends dub-dub streak to eight games
J.J. Hickson scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds vs. the Kings for his eighth consecutive double-double.
This marks the longest double-double streak by Trail Blazer since Mychal Thompson did it in 1981. He made 5-of-8 FGs and 4-of-6 FTs tonight, but he didn't have any assists, steals or blocks.

Sun Dec 23 201201:05Hickson rips off 7th straight double-double
J.J. Hickson went off for his seventh consecutive double-double in Saturday's win over the Suns, scoring 19 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in 38 minutes.
Hickson nearly double-doubled in the first quarter alone, and his seven game streak hasn't been matched by a Trail Blazer since Arvydas Sabonis played in Rip City. The best part for owners is that he didn't miss a beat with LaMarcus Aldridge (ankle) playing 39 minutes at PF, and his teammates continued to opportunistically feed him the ball (he went 8-of-11 from the field).

Fri Dec 21 201201:04J.J. Hickson goes for 18 and 18 in win
J.J. Hickson logged his 14th double-double on the season with 18 points and 18 rebounds to go with three blocks in 34 minutes against the Nuggets on Thursday.
He became the fourth player this year to go for 18 points and 18 rebounds in one game. After a bit of a roller coaster ride earlier this year, Hickson has logged six double-doubles in a row and should already be owned in all leagues.

Mon Dec 17 201200:00J.J. Hickson racks up 24 pts, 16 reb vs. NOH
J.J. Hickson scored a season-high 24 points vs. the Hornets on Sunday, with 16 rebounds, three assists and one block in just 31 minutes of action.
Hickson made 10-of-14 FG and 4-of-6 FTs, and owners in deep-category leagues have to be thrilled with his eight offensive rebounds. His role will only increase if LaMarcus Aldridge's ankle injury limits him this week, though as of Sunday night that doesn't seem very likely.

Fri Dec 14 201202:05Hickson logs fourth double-double in a row
J.J. Hickson logged with fourth double-double in a row on Thursday with 12 points and 12 boards against the Spurs.
Hickson was benched for performance five games ago and it would appear that it was the right move by coach Terry Stotts. He is looking like a must-own player, especially with Meyers Leonard having some mental lapses.

Sun Dec 9 201202:01Hickson's double-double not enough for POR
The Blazers were blown out at home on Saturday despite J.J. Hickson providing 14 points, 15 rebounds, one steal and one block in 29 minutes.
This makes two consecutive strong double-doubles for Hickson, who has bounced back nicely from last Monday's inexplicable two-point, zero-rebound dud. He'll do very little to help you in assists, steals or even blocks, but remains a viable source for points and boards.

Tue Dec 4 201217:12Stotts goes w/ hot hand, benches Hickson
Terry Stotts said J.J. Hickson played only 12 minutes on Monday because the Blazers "had a good thing going" with Meyers Leonard and Joel Freeland playing center.
Stotts riding the hot hand for one game is frustrating but not overly concerning, even if it proves that Hickson's role isn't carved in stone. Hickson is still averaging 10.8 points and 9.6 rebounds this season, good enough for a spot on most fantasy rosters.
