Wed Jul 9 201422:21Javy Guerra takes blown save, loss
After bailing the White Sox out in the eighth, Javy Guerra took a blown save and a loss while giving up two runs in the ninth Wednesday against the Red Sox.
Jake Petricka struggled after coming in with two outs in the eighth, retiring none of the four hitters he faced. That led to Guerra coming on with men on second and third and two outs in a one-run game. He got Mike Carp to ground out, but then he hit a batter, gave up an RBI double and surrendered a game-winning single in the bottom of the ninth. It'd seem to bode well for Zach Putnam getting the White Sox's next save chance.

Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports that the Dodgers are receiving significant interest in Javy Guerra and are expected to trade him soon.
Guerra was designated for assignment earlier in the week to clear a spot on the 40-man roster. The former closer has an electric arm, and should appeal to many teams with deficiencies in the back end of their bullpens.

Wed Mar 19 201414:32Report: RP Guerra will be claimed or traded
Javy Guerra is expected to be claimed off waivers or traded, reports the MLB Daily Dish's Chris Cotillo.
The former closer entered last season having put up a 2.45 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 75/41 K/BB ratio over 91 2/3 innings the previous two seasons while saving 29 games for the Dodgers, but 2013 turned into a nightmare. He posted a 6.75 ERA and 12/6 K/BB ratio over 10 2/3 innings before Los Angeles banished him to the minors for good in May. The 28-year-old, who was designated for assignment on Sunday, hasn't even accrued two service years yet. The interest he's generating isn't a surprise.

Sat Mar 2 201321:19Javy Guerra to pitch for Mexico in WBC
Javy Guerra has been named a late addition to Team Mexico's roster.
The late addition was due to Team USA member Chris Perez's injury, which forced him to drop out of the competition. David Hernandez then left Team Mexico to join Team USA, opening up a spot on Team Mexico's roster. The 27-year-old righty was supplanted by Kenley Jansen as the Dodgers closer last season, and with the addition of Brandon League Guerra will likely fill a middle relief role for the team in 2013.
