Sun Apr 8 201814:31Brewers place Yelich on DL with right oblique injury
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Christian Yelich took some swings in the batting cage but his right oblique was still sore.So the Milwaukee Brewers placed him on the 10-day disabled list on Sunday, four days after one of their prized offseason acquisitions got hurt during a 6-0 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. Yelich went on the DL retroactive to Thursday."The fact I don't remember doing it on a specific swing is probably good news," Yelich said before the Brewers played the Chicago Cubs. "Discomfort kind of grew, and as a precaution, to make sure it wasn't worse, we kind of toned it back a little bit. It's really frustrating, you know? That's the biggest thing."Right-hander Taylor Wiliams was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs to take Yelich's roster spot.Manager Craig Counsell said Yelich reported soreness after hitting over the weekend."So we did an MRI, the MRI is clean," Counsell said. "There's certainly a possibility it's (only) 10 days."Yelich, acquired from Miami, was hitting .385 with one... [More]

Sat Aug 8 201516:41Williams (elbow) will have Tommy John surgery
Williams (elbow) will have Tommy John surgery, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Elbow discomfort put him on the shelf earlier this season, and the potential for surgery has been looming since. The procedure will keep Williams sidelined until at least August of 2016, at which point he'll likely try to return to High-A Brevard County.

Williams (elbow) had a PRP injection last week and will be shutdown for now, Fox Sports Wisconsin's Andrew Gruman reports.
The Brewers say they still expect Williams to pitch again this season, but nothing is guaranteed. A former fourth-round pick in 2013, Williams is a fringe prospect with back-of-the-rotation potential several years down the road. Despite being 23 years old he has never pitched above High-A and can be ignored in most dynasty formats.

Williams is dealing with occasional discomfort in his elbow and remains in extended spring training, MLB.com's Adam McCalvy reports.
The extent of Williams' setback is uncertain, so it's not clear if Tommy John surgery is an option if his elbow does not improve. Regardless, the elbow injury that delayed the start of Williams' season remains an issue. Williams is not a top prospect, but he did impress with a 2.72 ERA and 137:28 K:BB ratio in 132.1 minor league innings a year ago.
