Peavy pitched six shutout innings Wednesday, giving up just four hits and a walk while striking out four in a 5-4 loss to the Padres.
Peavy was great against his former team, departing after throwing 88 pitches with a 2-0 lead. Peavy has been excellent over his last three outings, allowing just three earned runs over 19 innings. Injuries have shortened Peavy's 2015 campaign -- with the Giants out of contention, the 34-year-old will look to regroup next season in his final contract year with San Francisco.

Peavy (7-6) turned in one of his best performances of 2015 Wednesday, tossing six innings of two-run ball while striking out eight and walking just one in the win over the Reds.
Peavy has strung together four wins in his last five starts with a 3.52 ERA over that span. He hasn't been more than a decent NL-only pitcher this season, but that has been mainly a result of his lack of strikeouts. The eight-strikeout performance was likely an anomaly, as indicated by his 6.60 K/9 rate. Regardless, his next start comes at pitcher-friendly Petco Park against the Padres next Wednesday, and he will even have mixed league appeal for that start.

Peavu (6-6) was sharp on Friday, as he allowed just one run on two hits while striking out two in a 9-1 win over the Padres.
What might have been the most impressive part of his outing is that it only took him 79 pitches to get through his seven innings. This was Peavy's best start of the season and he proved he can still be a valuable asset for streaming purposes. Peavy should be in line for another good start when he hosts Cincinnati next Wednesday.

Peavy (5-6) secured a win Saturday night, giving up three earned runs on four hits while walking one and striking out five over 5.2 innings in a 7-3 victory over the Rockies.
Peavy emerged from his first Coors Field start of the season relatively unscathed, pitching to contact and helping himself out at the plate with an RBI double. The 34-year-old has shown diminished velocity and doesn't miss bats at nearly the rate he used to, resulting in a career-worst 4.19 FIP. He's next set to take the mound Friday against the Padres.

Peavy took a no decision Monday against the Dodgers as he allowed four runs on six hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out four and didn't walk a batter.
Peavy was undone by three extra-base hits, including a pair of sixth-inning home runs that sunk his chance for a victory. Peavy has now allowed at least four runs in three of his past four starts and has seen his ERA jump from 3.75 to 4.38 in that span. Peavy has a tidy 53:20 K:BB, but he has now served up 11 home runs in 14 starts and isn't missing enough bats to limit the damage (6.5 K/9).

Peavy (4-6) picked up the victory against the Cubs, giving up two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three batters through 6.1 innings on Wednesday.
Kris Bryant knocked in both runs on a shallow single in the first inning, blemishing an otherwise effective game for the 34-year-old. After back-to-back uninspiring starts, Peavy took command against the Cubs, limiting the high-powered offense to just two doubles, one by Kris Bryant and Kyle Schwarber. The right-hander will take the mound on the road next when he faces the Dodgers.

Peavy (3-6) gave up four runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings in Thursday's loss to the Pirates. He struck out five.
The damage was distributed rather evenly through this outing, as Peavy allowed runs in the first, third and sixth innings. He's now struggled in consecutive starts, having given up nine runs on 16 hits and four walks over his last 11.2 innings, but inconsistency's been the name of the game for Peavy when he's been healthy this year.

Peavy (3-5) picked up a fortunate win on Saturday, allowing five runs on nine hits and three walks across 5.2 innings in a 12-6 win over the Nationals.
This is far from a quality performance, but a win is a win. The stat that really stands out is that Peavy drew only two swinging strikes in the game and his nasty stuff is no longer existent. This is probably his worst start since April and it remains to be seen if anything is bothering him or if this is the natural regression of a 13-year veteran. His next scheduled start is in Pittsburgh on Thursday.

Peavy endured his fifth loss of the season Sunday against the Cubs, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks in five innings. He struck out six.
The 33-year-old allowed a run in both the first and second innings, but he settled down afterward and was only limited by an escalated pitch count. The damage was already done, however, as Jake Arrieta shut out the Giants' offense on the day. The short outing snapped a streak of three consecutive quality starts, and Peavy will look to get back on track Saturday against the Nationals.

Peavy was dominant Tuesday, tossing six innings of one-run ball while striking out eight Braves in the process. However, his bullpen let him down and blew the lead in what would eventually turn into a Giants' win.
This was easily Peavy's best start of the season, and the eight strikeouts were tied for the most he has thrown as a Giant. He continues to show excellent control since coming off of the DL at the beginning of July, posting a 26:7 K:BB ratio. This start did come against a mediocre Braves lineup that was missing Freddie Freeman, so owners should not expect this kind of performance every time out.

Peavy shut the Brewers out over six innings Wednesday, scattering four hits while striking out three, but received no decision.
Unfortunately for Peavy, the Giants' offense didn't come alive until the bottom of the seventh inning, when he was already out of the game. This qualifies as easily the veteran's finest start of the year, and he's gone consecutive outings without walking anyone -- though he only has five strikeouts over 12 innings in that span. In general, Peavy's seen a severe decline in his strikeout rate in his limited action this year. He next pitches Tuesday against Atlanta.

Peavy (2-4) tossed a quality start (6.0 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 K) against the Athletics on Friday, earning his second consecutive win.
The Giants offense gifted Peavy with a four run lead after two innings, and he cruised to his second win of the season. He continues to pitch well since returning from the disabled list, posting a 3.51 ERA with a 15:6 K:BB ratio. Peavy isn't going to dominate opposing lineups at this stage of his career, but he is definitely stream-worthy in favorable matchups like Wednesday's against the Brewers.

Peavy (1-4) picked up his first win of the season Saturday, giving up four runs over 6.1 innings while striking out four Diamondbacks.
Despite this being his worst outing since returning from the DL, Peavy was able to pick up the win on the back of an early 7-1 lead. He left some pitches over the plate that were hit hard, but did a good job of limiting his walks for the second straight game. What we have seen over his last three starts since the DL trip is a better representation of what can be expected from Peavy moving forward than his first two starts of the season. Peavy is definitely worth streaming against weaker offenses (such as Oakland's on Friday), but he shouldn't be relied upon start to start.

Peavy (0-4) turned in his best performance since returning from the disabled list, going seven innings and giving up two runs (one earned) while striking out five and walking just one. He was still saddled with the loss as Jacob deGrom outdueled him Wednesday.
Peavy missed nearly three months with an early-season back injury, but he has looked like a new man since coming off of the DL, posting a 2.03 ERA over his last two starts. He is no longer the perennial Cy Young contender he once was with the Padres, but Peavy could prove useful in favorable matchups like Wednesday's. It will be interesting to see how the Giants' retool their crowded rotation after the All-Start break, but Wednesday's performance all but assures Peavy a spot.

Peavy allowed two runs on three hits, walking four and striking out four over 6.1 innings of a 2-1 loss to Washington on Friday night.
Making his first start since missing time with a back injury, Peavy (0-3, 6.43 ERA) was clearly shaking off some rust as he walked four and hit a batter in the outing. Known for his tenacity, he was able to limit the damage, but he will need to be more efficient if he wants to maintain his hold on a rotation spot, and help fantasy teams.
Fri Jul 3 201513:59Peavy (back) reinstated from disabled list Friday
Peavy (back) was reinstated from the disabled list Friday.
Peavy will take the rotation spot of Tim Hudson, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list due to a minor shoulder injury. Peavy was shaky during his rehab assignment, and with the Giants boasting solid rotation depth, he could eventually be removed from the rotation if he struggles.

San Francisco Giants pitcher Jake Peavy has been reinstated from the disabled list after recovering from a back injury.
San Francisco Giants pitcher Jake Peavy has been reinstated from the disabled list after recovering from a back injury. Peavy replaces pitcher Tim Hudson in the rotation after Hudson was placed on the 15-day DL with a shoulder injury.
Tue Jun 30 201518:06Peavy (back) slated to come off DL on Friday
Peavy (back) is slated to come off the DL on Friday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Peavy has been on the DL since mid-April, but he'll rejoin the rotation Friday, one day after Matt Cain. Tim Lincecum will hit the DL on Thursday to accommodate Cain, but manager Bruce Bochy refused to reveal how the team will shuffle the starting staff going forward. Tim Hudson would appear to be the primary candidate to fall out of the rotation.

Peavy (back) will receive one more rehab start before being activated, MLB.com's Chris Haft reports.
It was thought that there was a good chance Peavy would make a start for the Giants this weekend, but his return to the rotation will delayed until next week. Nothing final has been determined with regard to which day he will start, or who exactly he will replace, but the best guess would be July 2, with Tim Hudson heading to the DL to get some rest. In really deep leagues, the time to grab Peavy is now.

Peavy (back) will likely rejoin the rotation next weekend against the Rockies, CSN Bay Area reports.
Peavy gave up one run over six innings in Sunday's outing for Triple-A Sacramento, making what will likely be the last rehab start of his assignment. With Matt Cain (forearm) also nearing a return, it seems likely that only one of Tim Lincecum, Tim Hudson and Ryan Vogelsong will keep his spot in the rotation.
