Porter will get the start Wednesday against the Knicks in place of Paul Pierce (rest).
With Pierce taking the night off, Porter will make his second start of the season. The Georgetown product saw his minutes tail off in December - 14.1 per game, down from 23.5 in November - but he's played at least 20 minutes in each of the last two games. Barring foul trouble, he seems like a lock to see 20-plus minutes again Wednesday, making him an intriguing option as a low-cost daily play.

Porter played the most minutes since November 1st, totalling 29 minutes, scoring 11 points (5-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT) with one rebound, three assists and one block Saturday.
Porter was a healthy scratch Friday, so this extended run is a little odd, but it coincides with Paul Pierce playing just 17 minutes. As high as Porter's upside is, he still has to battle Pierce, Martell Webster, and Rasual Butler for minutes on the wing, effectively killing his standard league value for now.

Porter started in place of Paul Pierce on Tuesday, who was resting, and scored 10 points (4-8 FG, 2-2 3Pt).
The Wizards opted to start Porter instead of Garrett Temple, and he was effective in 23 minutes of action. Porter grabbed five rebounds and had one assist and a block. Pierce will likely be back in the lineup soon anyway, so don't expect Porter to continue to start.

Porter will make his first career start at small forward Tuesday against Minnesota, T-Wolves' announcer Alan Horton reports.
Paul Pierce was a late scratch with a toe injury, opening the door for Porter to join the starters Tuesday. He should be a decent play in daily leagues, as he should see 20-30 minutes, with Rasual Butler also getting run in Pierce's absence.

Porter (hamstring) is officially listed as a game-time call for Tuesday's matchup with Atlanta.
Porter, who missed Saturday's game against Milwaukee, returned to practice Monday and said his tight hamstring felt good. He'll go through pre-game warmups, at which point a final determination will be made. Rasual Butler was the primary beneficiary in his absence Saturday, logging 28 minutes in the victory.

Porter (hamstring) returned to practice Monday and said he felt good.
Porter missed Saturday's win over the Bucks due to tightness in his hamstring. While he's feeling better, he admitted the hamstring is still sore, and he remains questionable to play Tuesday against the Hawks. In his absence Saturday, Rasual Butler saw increased minutes (28) off the bench.
Sun Nov 23 201410:06Porter (hamstring) considers injury to be minor
Porter (hamstring) considers his injury to be minor, Washington Post's Jorge Castillo reports.
Rasual Butler played 28 minutes in Porter's absence, scoring just 8 points and two rebounds on Saturday against the Bucks. Even when healthy, Porter will likely need an injury to Paul Pierce to become a solid fantasy option in most lineups.

Porter has tightness in his left hamstring and will not play Saturday against the Bucks.
By sitting out Saturday, Porter will have several days to rest before a possible return Tuesday against the Hawks. Paul Pierce may have to log more minutes than usual with Porter not available.

Porter had 21 points (7-11 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 6-7 FT) with five rebounds in 37 minutes in the win over the Bucks on Saturday.
Paul Pierce was ejected before halftime, so Porter received extra playing time in the second half. The second-year forward showed he could produce when given playing time. He should be a player to be monitored.

Porter scored 22 points (9-15 FG, 4-7 3P) with three steals and two rebounds in 31 minutes during Wednesday's preseason loss to the Knicks.
He started once again at small forward, and Porter thrived as the perimeter complement to John Wall. After barely playing last season as a rookie, Porter seems poised to have a big start to his sophomore campaign, at least until Bradley Beal returns from his wrist injury.

Porter said he has gotten a little bit more work at shooting guard in practice since teammate Glen Rice sprained his ankle Wednesday, CSN Washington reports.
While the extent of Rice's injury is still murky, the Wizards will undoubtedly be without Bradley Beal (wrist) and Martell Webster (back) for at least the first few weeks of the season. Rice, Porter and Garrett Temple are the leading candidates to take on Beal's minutes, with Rice probably the most natural fit at off-guard. Whether or not he ends up starting, Porter seems to be assured of a key role in the rotation to start the season.

Porter could see more playing time because of injuries to teammates Brad Beal (fractured wrist) and Glen Rice (sprained ankle), CSN Washington's J. Michael reports.
With Martell Webster (back) already expected to miss at least the first few weeks of the season, Porter and Rice were in line to compete for bench minutes on the wing. Then, Beal suffered a fracture that's expected to keep him out for 6-to-8 weeks, freeing up a spot in the Wizards' starting lineup. The most likely replacements for Beal are Rice and Porter, though the latter would presumably work as a small forward, pushing Paul Pierce to the shooting guard spot. With Rice now bothered by what appears to be a fairly serious ankle sprain, Porter seems even more important to Washington's plans than before. It doesn't hurt that he's having a solid preseason, following a strong showing at the Las Vegas Summer League. Last year's No. 3 overall pick should enter the season with a crucial role, though Rice is probably still the favorite to replace Beal in the starting lineup for the opener.

Porter scored 12 points (4-5 FG, 4-7 FT) with five rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's preseason game against the Pelicans.
It was Porter's turn in this one to outplay fellow sophomore wing Glen Rice, as Rice couldn't get his shot to fall. The two will likely be competing for bench minutes all season, although if Paul Pierce were to break down Porter's sharper defensive skills should put him first in line to step into the starting small forward spot.

Porter had four points (1-10 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-3 FT), four rebounds and two assists over 28 minutes in Monday's preseason opener against the Bulls.
Porter and Glen Rice, both of whom played well at the Las Vegas Summer League, will likely open the season as Washington's top wings off the bench, though Martell Webster (knee) should have a role when he's eventually healthy. Rice comfortably outplayed Porter in Monday's game, putting up 18 points (6-8 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three assists, two steals and a block. While Rice is the more polished offensive player, Porter has the advantage of being a former top-three draft pick, and also has far greater potential on the defensive end. It should also be noted that they're very different players, with Rice more of a shooting guard, while Porter is a small forward who might even play some stretch four.
Mon Jul 21 201409:15Otto Porter named to first-team Vegas squad
Glen Rice Jr., Otto Porter, Doug McDermott, Tony Snell and Donatas Motiejunas were named to the Samsung All-NBA Summer League First Team.
Porter really showed some extra confidence in his offense, attempting countless mid-range jumpers. He was also an improved passer to join Glen Rice Jr. as the focal points of the offense. He could be looking at minutes in the mid-20s this season.

Mon Jul 14 201400:47Otto Porter has a minor injury
Otto Porter shot 5-of-14 from the field for 11 points with five boards, two assists, one turnover and one foul in 33 minutes.
He had a minor injury tonight, but was able to return and didn't seem to be bothered by it. Porter has really had a tough time staying on the court in his rookie season, but he may be cleared for some regular minutes this season.

Sat Jul 12 201419:20Otto Porter drives Wizards to win, scores 25
Otto Porter was terrific in his Las Vegas Summer League debut, making 11-of-16 from the field for 25 points with seven boards, three assists, one 3-pointer and three turnovers.
He couldn't stay healthy leading up to his rookie season and was buried on the depth chart. The loss of Trevor Ariza may have created an opening for Porter and we'll see how the Wizards look to fill that void. As for today, Porter really put it all together on offense with his mid-range game as his best asset. He was also very active in sharing the ball. If he can keep it going, he'll be on fantasy map in deep leagues, especially with Martell Webster's back injury.

Sat Jul 12 201409:34Otto Porter has opportunity to seize SF role
Wizards coach Randy Wittman said he saw a "big change" in Otto Porter's game throughout last season, and that Porter has an "opportunity" to establish himself this summer.
Porter didn't play enough for his improvement to be evident on the court, as his playing time dipped after the All-Star break to only 7.5 minutes per game. With Martell Webster (back) injured and Trevor Ariza uncertain to return in free agency, Porter could emerge with a significant role at SF in Wittman's rotation. We'll be keeping a close eye on him throughout Summer League and the preseason.

Sat Apr 12 201411:58Otto Porter steps up w/ nine points on Friday
Otto Porter stepped up for the Wizards on Friday, scoring nine points with nine rebounds in 26 minutes off the bench.
Porter made 4-of-10 shots which was a season-high in attempts, and he got more minutes because coach Randy Wittman was eager to give some rest to Trevor Ariza and Martell Webster. As nice a sign as this is for Porter's development, he's unlikely to have a big role once the playoffs begin.

Tue Mar 4 201410:55Otto Porter provides solid effort in loss
Otto Porter saw some rare playing time Monday night and played well in the Wizards' loss to Memphis.
With Martell Webster a late scratch, Porter scored six points in 10 minutes of action that including his first two made 3-pointers of his NBA career. Websters' status for Wednesday against Utah is unclear, but the rookie is staying ready. "We'll see. But I'm going to stay ready," Porter said. "I look at it as, learn from it. Always stay ready. This was a prime example. We had a man go down today, Martell, so opportunity presents itself, take full advantage." While coach Randy Wittman has said that Porter won't be sent down to the D-League this season, we'll need to see a lot more out of the Georgetown alum before recommending him as an add.
