INF Hernan Perez cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Nov. 6. Perez, 24, hit a combined .243/.257/.327 with one homer and 21 RBIs in 112 games for Detroit and Milwaukee this year.

Perez went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in a 5-1 win over San Diego on Wednesday.

Perez was just 7-for-45 over his previous 19 games, so this performance was surprising. Prior to that slump, Perez was nearing the .300 mark for average and pushing Jason Rogers, Jean Segura and Scooter Gennett for playing time. He will likely play a nice role as a utility player for next season in things fall his way.

Perez hasn't been able to do much damage as of late, recording just three extra base hits in the month of September. He will get the night off in favor of Luis Sardinas, who will take over at third base and hit seventh in the lineup.

Perez went 3-for-5 with a double and three runs batted in Monday, guiding Milwaukee to a 9-1 victory over the Marlins.

Perez has been getting a long look at third base for the Brewers, a position vacated after Aramis Ramirez's trade to the Pirates. Although the 24-year-old profiles as a plus-defender, Perez has mild offensive upside -- notching a .332 wOBA in 596 Triple-A plate appearances last season. Perez will likely continue receiving steady at-bats this season and audition for the everyday job next spring.

Perez got the start at third base and he appears to be finding a nice utility role with the Brewers. The Venezuelan has been very good in his time with Milwaukee as his average is just shy of .300 with his new team. The Tigers never really gave him a chance and he should see plenty of plate appearances in the final two months for a team who is clearly out of contention.

Perez is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Marlins.

Perez will sit for the third time in five games following a 1-for-4 night Tuesday. Elian Herrera will receive the start in his place, batting sixth for the Brewers.

Perez is out of the lineup Sunday against the Phillies.

It's the second straight game Perez will find himself on the bench, as manager Craig Counsell may have turned the reins of the starting third-base job back over to Elian Herrera. Both Herrera and Perez are more ideally suited as utility infielder, though Perez probably offers a little more intrigue of the two options by virtue of being younger. However, with a .231/.249/.320 batting line on the season, it's difficult to count on Perez for much value once he gets back in the lineup.

Perez is out of the lineup Sunday against the Cardinals.

Perez will rest for the second time this series, giving Elian Herrera his second start in three games at third base. Perez hasn't recorded a hit since Thursday, and is 5-for-25 at the plate to start the month of August.

Perez is out of Friday's lineup against the Cardinals.

Perez has seen most of the starts at third base following the Brewers' trade of Aramis Ramirez prior to the July 31 deadline. He's collected a hit in each of his last four starts, but will take Friday off in favor of Elian Herrera, who'll bat eighth for the Brewers.

Perez is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs.

Perez started the last eight games at third base, but he scuffled a bit over the last few games, so he will get a night off Friday. Perez will be pushed for playing time at third base by recent call-up Elian Herrera -- who will start there Friday -- but it seems likely the Brewers will continue to give Perez ample playing time at the hot corner the rest of the way in order to evaluate him for next season.

At least initially, he's going to see the bulk of the extra playing time at third base for the Brewers following the trade of Aramis Ramirez to Pittsburgh this week. Perez is hitting a robust .329/.346/.506 in limited action with the Brewers this season, but it will be interesting to see what he's able to offer offensively while seeing a heavier supply of playing time. Perez hit .287/.331/.404 as a 23-year-old at Triple-A Toledo last season, chipping in six homers, 53 RBI, and 21 steals along the way. Interestingly enough, he's only attempted two steals in the big leagues this season over 60 games with the Brewers and Tigers.

Perez will start at third base and bat eighth Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

Aramis Ramirez's departure to Pittsburgh has created an opening at third base, one which Perez appears primed to fill. The 24-year-old Perez has looked like a completely different player since joining Milwaukee, going 24-for-73 with nine extra-base hits after going just 2-for-33 with Detroit to begin the season.

Perez went 10-for-21 (.476) with four doubles and two RBI over his last eight games.

Perez's recent showing doesn't immediately jump off the page, but it's a stark difference from the way he was hitting previously -- Perez was hitting just .063 (3-for-48) as recently as June 12. He is splitting his time between the second base and third base positions, starting at the keystone against opposing left-handers and taking up the hot corner when the veteran Ramirez needs a day off.

Perez will start at second base in Tuesday's game against the Pirates.

Perez will cover they keystone Tuesday for the fourth time in six games; and with Luis Sardinas optioned back to Triple-A earlier Tuesday, he could see plenty more action at second base in the weeks to come, as he and Hector Gomez are the only two second-base options currently on the Brewers' roster. While Perez should play plenty in the near future, he will have to significantly up his 3-for-43 (.070) batting average to provide much for fantasy owners.

Perez will start at second base Friday for the second straight game.

Perez has not officially claimed the starting second base job for the Brewers, but he is getting a chance to show what he can do after being claimed off waivers earlier this week. Perez will hit ninth against Twins starter Kyle Gibson on Friday night.

Perez had a disastrous start to the season for Detroit, hitting just .061 (2-for-33) with 11 strikeouts in 22 games. He'll be given a second chance with the Brewers organization, which is apparently intrigued by his relative success at the minor league levels over the last two years. Perez hit .280 in 147 Triple-A games in 2014 and posted a .293/.326/.390 slash line in 138 minor league contests two seasons ago. In a corresponding move, the Brewers designated Elian Herrera for assignment Tuesday.

The Tigers are carrying two super utility players -- Perez and Andrew Romine -- to start the season. Perez, who has the higher offensive upside of the two, will be used primarily off the bench.

He has extra-base power and sneaky speed, but his defense isn't as good as Romine's. We don't expect Perez to see much playing time.

Perez will continue to see time in the outfield during spring training and the Tigers intend to have him compete for a super utility role, MLive.com reports.

Perez offers more offensive upside than Romine, while both players are being tasked with outfield work as the Tigers are seeking a replacement on their bench for Don Kelly. It's expected that Perez and Romine will see significantly reduced opportunities at shortstop with a return to health from Jose Iglesias.

Perez has been working out in the outfield and will continue to do so during winter league games, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.

Perez offers some speed (21-for-27 in stolen-base attempts last season) and versatility defensively, but the big question for him in Detroit focuses on how he'll actually crack the lineup with Ian Kinsler and Jose Iglesias expected to handle the overwhelming majority of starts at the middle-infield positions. Perez hit .287/.331/.404 at Triple-A Toledo last season.

Perez will be recalled from Triple-A Toledo in advance of Monday's game against the Indians, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.

Though the shortstop position has been a weak spot for the Tigers this season, Perez isn't likely to usurp Eugenio Suarez for starting duties at the position. The 23-year-old batted .287 with six homers and 21 steals over 133 games at Toledo entering play Sunday, and will primarily serve as pinch-running option or defensive replacement off the bench.
