Tue Apr 5 202219:00CJ Abrams Open To Playing Any Position
San Diego Padres shortstop CJ Abrams has a solid chance to be part of the team's Opening Day roster. And it seems as if Abrams is eager to do anything it will take to help his case. On Tuesday, the 21-year-old prospect spoke to the press and said, "Any position to help me get on the team, I'm willing to do it. Right field, center field, shortstop, second base, anything." Abrams has primarily played shortstop and second base in the majors and the team certainly needs help at shortstop to open the year with Fernando Tatis Jr. (wrist) out. However, the team seems very interested in utilizing Abrams in the outfield. His versatility could be a difference-maker in deciding whether he'll be on the Opening Day roster. Over 16 games this spring, Abrams has slashed .324/.361/.529 with two home runs and three stolen bases.

Wed Mar 30 202218:15CJ Abrams Could Make Opening Day Roster
San Diego Padres shortstop CJ Abrams has a solid chance of making the Opening Day roster. Eguy Rosario has been optioned to the minors, which leaves one roster spot available on the team. That spot is likely to go to a player that currently isn't on the 40-man roster. That means, one of the team's prospects has a good shot at making the roster. Abrams is hitting .304 with two homers in 11 Cactus League contests. There is tremendous upside here and his speed alone could make him an asset to the big league roster. Fantasy managers should watch this closely over the next few weeks.

Sat Jan 29 202218:11CJ Abrams Resumes Full Baseball Activity
San Diego Padres shortstop CJ Abrams (shoulder) has resumed full baseball activity, according to Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune. Abrams, a top prospect, played in just 42 games at the Double-A level in 2021, slashing .296/.363/.420 with two homers and 13 steals in 183 plate appearances. The 20-year-old is expected to see plenty of work at second base and perhaps the outfield in spring training this year, as Fernando Tatis, Jr. remains at shortstop for San Diego entering 2022. While he may make his big-league debut at some point this coming season, Abrams shouldn't be expected to have a major fantasy impact until 2023 at the earliest.
