Wed Apr 24 201316:21J.P. Arencibia hits AL-leading 8th HR in win
J.P. Arencibia hit his AL-high eighth homer as part of a 3-for-5 day as the Blue Jays beat the Orioles 6-5 in 11 innings Wednesday.
A Maicer Izturis bases-loaded walk scored the go-ahead run in the 11th. Along with his two-run homer today, Arencibia collected his sixth double. He has a crazy 32/2 K/BB ratio in 82 at-bats, but when he's making contact, he's hitting the ball a long way.

Sun Apr 21 201316:24Arencibia hits seventh homer, Jays top Yanks
J.P. Arencibia slugged his seventh home run of the season in Sunday's 8-4 victory over the Yankees.
Arencibia also doubled, finishing 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. The 27-year-old has a weak .250 batting average and .260 on-base percentage in 18 games this season, but his power numbers have been excellent. He should carry some amount of relevance in standard mixed fantasy leagues all season.

Tue Apr 16 201322:15Arencibia remains hot, hitting fifth home run
J.P. Arencibia went 2-for-4 with his fifth home run of the season Tuesday.
Arencibia's best attribute has always been his power, and it's been on full display in the early going. His average is still respectable as well, but that's not likely to last. But the power is very real, and for that alone he deserves to be owned in deep mixed leagues.

J.P. Arencibia went 2-for-5 and delivered a go-ahead three-run double in the seventh as the Blue Jays beat the Tigers 8-6 on Wednesday.

Thu Apr 4 201322:52J.P. Arencibia homers twice in victory
J.P. Arencibia went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo homers in leading the Blue Jays to a 10-8 win over the Indians on Thursday.
Arencibia was on fire offensively all spring, with the caveat that free swingers have it a bit easier in March than they do in April and beyond. He should put up some of the best power numbers among major league catchers this season, but it remains to be seen whether he'll improve much on his .221 career average. .240 is probably within reach.

Tue Apr 2 201310:07Arencibia to catch Dickey on Opening Day
J.P. Arencibia will catch R.A. Dickey in Tuesday's season opener.
There was some speculation that Henry Blanco would serve as Dickey's personal catcher this season, but Arencibia has found a comfort level with the knuckleballer in recent weeks, including catching both of his starts during the World Baseball Classic. There's still a chance that things could change down the road, but this arrangement is good news for his fantasy value, as he won't have to sit every fifth day as originally thought.

Fri Mar 29 201321:25Arencibia's homer powers Blue Jays to win
J.P. Arencibia blasted a solo homer off Phillippe Aumont on Friday, accounting for all of the offensive festivities in a 1-0 victory over the Phillies.
It was his only hit in three trips on the night. Arencibia has absolutely murdered the ball during the Grapefruit League season, hitting .439/.477/.902 with five homers and 13 RBI. While he's never going to hit for a high average, he has tremendous power potential and is certainly worth a look in two catcher formats.

Mon Mar 25 201316:19J.P. Arencibia homers twice for Jays
Staying red hot, J.P. Arencibia went 3-for-4 with two homers and five RBI as the Phillies blasted the Blue jays 13-4 on Monday.
Despite missing time and not playing much in the WBC, Arencibia is 16-for-33 with four homers and three doubles in Blue Jays camp. He has a flawed approach at the plate, and he's never going to hit for a big average in the regular season. Still, 25 homers and 75 RBI isn't completely out of reach.

Mon Oct 22 201218:28Rangers could have interest in J.P. Arencibia
T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports that the Rangers are expected to engage in trade discussions with the Blue Jays this winter regarding J.P. Arencibia and Travis d'Arnaud.
The Rangers haven't closed the door on re-signing impending free agent Mike Napoli or bringing back Geovany Soto, who is entering his final arbitration year. But, should one or both of them not return, they'll be in the market for catching help. It's very doubtful the Jays would trade d'Arnaud, who is considered the best catching prospect in baseball, but perhaps they'd be willing to part with Arencibia. Toronto claimed Bobby Wilson off waivers Monday, so they now have four options behind the plate in Arencibia, d'Arnaud, Wilson and Jeff Mathis.

He's produced pretty much as expected this season, with an atrocious .226 average and solid power numbers of 13 homers and 41 RBI.
