Tue Jan 31 201222:10Bass scores 13 points in win over Cavs
Brandon Bass had 13 points and six rebounds in 29 minutes of Tuesday's win over Cleveland.
Bass is quietly averaging 13 points, six boards, nearly a steal and block per game over his last five, hitting double figures in all of them. Jermaine O'Neal was back tonight, but Bass still played solid minutes, and is worth a look in deeper leagues.

Thu Jan 26 201223:36Bass starts for Jermaine O'Neal on Thursday
Brandon Bass started for injured Jermaine O'Neal (knee) on Thursday against the Magic, scoring 10 points on 4-of-12 shooting with five rebounds, two steals, and two blocks in 29 minutes.
The scoring and rebounding numbers aren't up to owners' expectations, but the steals and blocks are a nice supplement. If O'Neal can't play Friday, owners should feel more than comfortable using Bass as a spot-starter again. Bass is also worth a look in 14-team leagues for his standalone value.

Tue Jan 24 201200:57Bass leads the way in Celtics' blowout win
Brandon Bass scored 19 points off the bench in the Celtics' 87-56 blowout win over the Magic, hitting 8-of-14 shots from the field to go with eight rebounds and one assist in 34 minutes.
With Rajon Rondo (wrist) and Ray Allen (ankle) out, the uptick in production isn't all that surprising. If you're in a pinch, Bass could be worth a look over the short-term until the aforementioned guys return. Kevin Garnett added 14 points, 10 rebounds, five steals, and two blocks, while Paul Pierce added 19 points, five rebounds, and seven assists in the win.

Fri Jan 13 201220:05Bass to start at PF, O'Neal to bench on Fri
Brandon Bass will start at power forward on Friday with Jermaine O'Neal (knee) coming off the bench.
Kevin Garnett will slide over to center. We wouldn't change expectations too much based on this news, as O'Neal isn't a good bet to play over 20 minutes on most nights, anyway. He'll get as much run as his old body can handle wherever he plays. If you want to bump Bass up a bit, go for it.

Wed Jan 4 201223:36Brandon Bass double-doubles for Celtics
Brandon Bass hit 7-of-10 shots for 15 points and 13 rebounds in Wednesday's win.
This was his second double-double of the season and he's scored in double digits in all but one game. He's a fringe fantasy player right now, but could help a team in need of points and boards.

Tue Jan 3 201212:51Rivers: Bass still needs to pick up our sets
Doc Rivers said that Brandon Bass still needs to pick up the Celtics defensive schemes.
"I think he can be a great defender. Right now, he's struggling with our schemes. We just have to keep drilling them." Regardless, Bass is averaging 28 minutes per game and a healthy 13.8 points. He's going to be relied upon to score in the second unit for Boston, but his lack of production across the stat sheet puts a ceiling on his value.

Mon Jan 2 201204:14Brandon Bass stepping up off Celts' bench
Brandon Bass has averaged the fourth-most minutes and shot attempts among all Celtics players.
Celtics writer Paul Flannery explains that "Bass is the one constant offensive threat off the bench. To put it another way, the Celtics need him to score." He's averaging 15.3 points on 53% FGs and 79% FTs, with 5.8 rebounds, 0.8 blocks and just 0.8 turnovers. Those numbers give him ninth-round value in nine-cat leagues.

Fri Dec 30 201122:30Bass scores 17 points with not much else
Brandon Bass scored 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting with three rebounds and no other statistics on Friday.
If you saw the 17 points and though perhaps he's on a tear again, think again. After his huge 20 and 11 opening day performance he was a popular add, but since then his showings have had holes in them as Bass is just not that versatile. Don't be fooled into thinking that has changed, though he's worth keeping an eye on.

Wed Dec 28 201100:05Brandon Bass slows his roll against the Heat
Brandon Bass slowed his roll after Sunday's big game, scoring 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting with five rebounds, one assist, and two blocks in 32 minutes off the bench against the Heat on Tuesday.
The Heat have the type of defense that can bother one dimensional players like Bass, and this is a more realistic expectation of his value than Sunday's result. Give him a look if you need a forward, but Bass is not a must-own player.

Sun Dec 25 201115:20Brandon Bass blows up for Celtics w/ 20 & 11
Brandon Bass came off the Celtics bench and finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds on 9-of-13 shooting Sunday.
He was hot today, but didn't block a shot or contribute in many other categories. He could have some serious value this season, especially once Jermaine O'Neal leaves with an injury, but we doubt he's this good on most nights.

Wed Dec 21 201123:47Brandon Bass filling Big Baby's role
Brandon Bass had 12 points, two rebounds, two steals and a block in 18 minutes off the bench on Wednesday.
He'll fill the hole left by the departure of Glen Davis, but should only have fantasy value if Kevin Garnett were to go down.

Fri Dec 9 201112:39Brandon Bass traded to the Celtics
Brandon Bass will be traded to the Celtics for Glen Davis, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Bass will play backup PF behind Kevin Garnett in Boston, and won't have reliable value while KG is healthy. He's not the most versatile player but at $4 million per season he's a relative big-man bargain.

Brandon Bass is working hard to extend his shooting range, though not necessarily to 3-point land.
Bass already has a reliable jumper from 18-20 feet, it's conceivable that he will work his way beyond the arc. Adding a 3-pointer to his repertoire would be huge for his role in Orlando, as Stan Van Gundy doesn't shy away from perimeter shooting. Bass is also working on his ball-handling and passing, which should help cut down on his turnovers.

Tue May 24 201116:55Brandon Bass has already begun workouts
Brandon Bass has already begun working out this offseason.
Bass hopes to improve both mentally and physically and a player, and we don't think the Magic mind that he gets to work early considering that he clearly didn't have Stan Van Gundy's full trust at all this season. While it wouldn't be surprising to see him moved in the offseason, Bass has shown to be a competent player when given adequate time on the court.

Tue May 24 201110:12SVG didn't trust Bass?
Coach Stan Van Gundy didn't fully trust Brandon Bass' understanding of the playbook or defensive schemes last season, according to the Pinstriped Post.
We're not really buying this as Bass started 51 games and averaged 26.1 minutes a night. Bass' talent level doesn't warrant any more playing time than that on a good team. He doesn't block shots, doesn't rebound well despite his 6'8/250 frame and can't draw a double team. Bass will return as a borderline fantasy option again next season and could lose his starting gig to Ryan Anderson.

Sun Apr 10 201115:58Bass has horrible shooting day vs. Bulls
Brandon Bass hit only 2-of-11 shots for five points and five rebounds in Sunday's loss to the Bulls.
Generally Bass and Ryan Anderson work against each other but today's output was all on Bass. His only redeeming stat in this game was the three shots he managed to swat away. Bass has been posting some solid numbers lately but today's line was certainly forgettable.

Wed Apr 6 201122:38Bass has big line in OT win for Magic
Brandon Bass hit 6-of-10 shots for 19 points and eight rebounds in Wednesday's overtime win over the Bobcats.
Bass has been playing more minutes than Ryan Anderson for the last several weeks and is capable of a line like this at any time. He'd scored between 12 and 15 points over his last seven games, but was helped by the overtime period tonight. And despite the consistent scoring, he hasn't double-doubled in a game since February.

Tue Mar 22 201100:37Bass scores 22 points against smallish Cavs
Brandon Bass had his way with the small Cavs frontcourt on Monday, scoring 22 points on 9-of-10 shooting with six rebounds, no assists, two steals, and one block in 35 minutes.
He and Dwight Howard scored at will, but Bass won't have it nearly this easy against most teams. While he has had a few good games recently, as well, we're still not ready to call him a must-own player by any stretch of the imagination.

Fri Mar 18 201122:54Bass gets playing time despite awful night
Brandon Bass started over Ryan Anderson again and hit just 2-of-13 shots for 13 points and eight rebounds Friday.
Bass did hit 9-of-10 free throws, but why he got 34 minutes while struggling with his shot is a bit odd. Anderson played just 17 minutes, but still managed to finish with nine points, five rebounds and a three. Neither player is a must-own in fantasy due to the timeshare, and the constant flip-flopping of minutes by Stan Van Gundy.

Sun Mar 13 201118:46Brandon Bass scores 17 on 70% shooting
Brandon Bass scored 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting with six rebounds, an assist, and a steal in Sunday's win over the Suns.
That should help you a bunch in percentage leagues. Bass would be a decent play if he could figure out how to break double digits like this more often.
