Joseph scored 18 points (9-11 FG, 0-1 3Pt) in 22 minutes Thursday against the Houston Rockets. He added one rebound and turned the ball over three times.
Joseph played a season-high in minutes on a night where coach Gregg Popovich decided to sit Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobli the entire game. In a highly efficient performance from the field, Joseph managed lead the way in scoring for the Spurs. He will serve as the primary backup at PG, filling the role Patty Mills (shoulder) had last year.
Sat Sep 27 201414:35Joseph will be Tony Parker's backup to start season
Joseph will be Tony Parker's backup to start the season, Paul Garcia of Project Spurs reports.
Patty Mills (shoulder) is aiming to return sometime around January, and once he's healthy, Mills will likely see more playing time than Joseph. However, Joseph is the true point guard, and Mills is more of an instant-offense type of scorer off the bench, so when the Spurs want a true floor general on the court when Perker is resting, Joseph will be the option. The Spurs are famous for managing their starter's minutes, and were the only team in the league last season without a single player seeing 30-plus minutes per game, so while Mills is out, Joseph could reasonably see around 20 minutes per game off the bench.
Tue Apr 8 201422:47Cory Joseph scores 13 points in start at PG
Cory Joseph started at PG on Tuesday in place of Tony Parker (back), scoring 13 points on 4-of-5 FGs and 5-of-8 FTs.
CoJo added two assists and three steals to pacify owners, but he was limited to just 20 minutes of action as the Spurs got blown out in Minnesota. Patty Mills added eight points without any assists in 22 minutes, and Marco Belinelli had just three points in 26 minutes, but all three reserve guards could see heavy playing time with Tony Parker (sprained back) and Manu Ginobili (bruised calf) iffy to play on Thursday or Friday.

Tue Apr 8 201412:06Cory Joseph to start for Parker Tuesday
Cory Joseph is expected to start in place of Tony Parker (back) on Tuesday against the Timberwolves.
This is not a surprise and we're still thinking Patty Mills has a better chance for a big game tonight, but you just never know with Gregg Popovich. In the last six games Parker has missed this season, Mills is averaging more than 16 points, despite coming off the bench in most of them.

Tue Mar 25 201401:35Cory Joseph gets 35 minutes in start
Cory Joseph started in place of Tony Parker (Achilles) on Monday, playing 35 minutes with 12 points, seven boards, five assists, two steals and two turnovers.
Garbage time was also a factor for Joseph matching his season high in minutes and setting a career high in boards. Parker should be back in the lineup on Wednesday and Joseph will likely go back to his role of 8.4 minutes per game off the bench.

Wed Feb 12 201422:33Cory Joseph plays well in start for Parker
Cory Joseph started for Tony Parker (back) and hit 4-of-9 shots and a 3-pointer for 11 points, four rebounds, five assists and three steals in Wednesday's win.
Patty Mills was solid with 16 points and three 3-pointers off the bench, and is a more reliable option than Joseph on nights when Parker is out.

Wed Feb 12 201418:21Cory Joseph will start for Parker Wednesday
Cory Jospeh will start against the Celtics on Wednesday.
Tony Parker is going to sit this one out and the Spurs will have to use a combination of ball handlers to fill the void. Joseph hasn't been very effective in his 11 previous starts, averaging 8.4 points, 2.5 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.5 triples, so he's not necessarily a strong play based on the starting distinction. Patty Mills being a high-volume guy off the bench might be a better play in a pinch.

Thu Feb 6 201422:55Cory Joseph scores team-high 18 points
Cory Joseph scored a team-high 18 points against the Nets during a 103-89 loss on Thursday, adding four boards, three assists, four steals and one 3-pointer in 35 minutes.
He has been in the starting lineup for the decimated Spurs and put up a season-high in points . Joseph has usually been in the lineup for some continuity and doesn't usually get this much playing time, so those taking a look at him should not overreact to one of his best lines ever.

Fri Jan 24 201423:43Cory Joseph plays 31 minutes vs. Hawks
Cory Joseph drew the start against the Hawks on Friday during a 105-79 win, playing 31 minutes with eight points, six boards, three assists, two steals and one turnover.
He started the third quarter on Wednesday after the Kawhi Leonard injury, so it's not a surprise to see him start. While starting is nice, it's never easy for fantasy owners to trust Greg Popovich with any sort of role player. Joseph is only worth a look in deeper leagues for now.

Fri Jan 24 201419:31Cory Joseph starting for the Spurs
Cory Joseph will start against the Hawks on Friday night.
He started the third quarter on Wednesday and this move isn't really a surprise. Joseph joins Tony Parker, Marco Belinelli, Tim Duncan and Jeff Ayres in the starting lineup. Fantasy owners can ignore Joseph for the most part and Manu Ginobili should get some more playing time. Belinelli is also a beneficiary of Kawhi Leonard's hand injury.

Sun Jan 19 201421:32Cory Joseph plays 26 minutes in fill-in start
Making a rare start at PG in place of Tony Parker (shin) on Sunday, Cory Joseph notched 12 points, two 3-pointers, four rebounds and three assists in 26 minutes.
Parker's injury isn't serious and he's expected back for San Antonio's next game, so this has no lasting repercussions. CoJo's fantasy relevance is constrained to the deepest of leagues.

Sun Jan 19 201417:36Cory Jospeh starting on Sunday
Cory Joseph will start against the Bucks on Sunday.
This isn't a surprising move from the Spurs and they've used Joseph as a starter before this season. Even though he will start, Patty Mills is the guy who will likely have more play-making responsibilities. Tony Parker shouldn't miss much time with his shin injury.

Mon Dec 23 201318:49Cory Joseph will not play on Monday
Cory Joseph (illness) will not play against the Raptors on Monday.
He has a stomach bug and the Spurs will have to count on Patty Mills to back up Tony Parker. Joseph has fallen behind Mills and isn't worth owning in almost any league.

Thu Dec 19 201302:12Cory Joseph quiet in start at point guard
Cory Joseph got the start at point guard for the Spurs on Wednesday, but had just four points and zero assists on 2-of-5 shooting.
Patty Mills ended up being the best point guard for the Spurs tonight, coming off the bench for 12 points, four assists, two steals and two 3-pointers on 4-of-10 shots in the win. Tony Parker's shin injury will keep him out again in the next one, and while there are no guarantees, the smart money is on Mills to be the most productive point guard for the Spurs again.

Wed Dec 18 201314:08Cory Joseph will start at point guard vs. PHX
Cory Joseph will start at point guard for the Spurs against the Suns on Wednesday.
Tony Parker is expected to miss at least two games with a bruised right shin to create the opening in the starting lineup. This isn't much of a surprise to see Joseph starting and he'll make his second appearance in the starting lineup on the season. In his previous start, he scored 13 points with four assists and one 3-pointer in 25 minutes. He'll likely split the time right down the middle with Patty Mills again.

Fri Nov 29 201323:01Cory Joseph starts, scores 13 points
Cory Joseph started his first game of the season for Tony Parker (ankle) and had 13 points, two rebounds, four assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 25 minutes.
He split the point guard duties with Patty Mills tonight. Mills had eight points, one rebound, two assists, one steal and one turnover in 23 minutes. Parker's ankle injury doesn't sound too serious and he should be considered questionable for Saturday against the Rockets. There is little reason to pick up Mills or Joseph.

Sat Oct 12 201312:31Cory Joseph favored for Spurs' backup PG job
Gregg Popovich said that Cory Joseph "probably has first dibs" on the Spurs' backup PG position.
Joseph played nearly as often in the D-League last year (26 games) as he did in the NBA (28 games), but Pop showed a lot of trust in him down the stretch. Fantasy owners shouldn't expect anything more than his averages in April last season -- 5.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 19 minutes per game.

Cory Joseph had 17 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists to help Canada defeat Jamaica in Friday's FIBA Americas Championship game.
"He had us going," Triano said of the Spurs' guard. "I thought his coming off of ball screens and what he was doing was very good." Tristan Thompson added 11 points and 12 rebounds in the victory, while Andrew Nicholson was quiet in under 17 minutes of action. Canada faces Puero Rico on Saturday.

Sun Jul 21 201323:28Cory Joseph will play for Team Canada in FIBA
Cory Joseph will play for Team Canada in the FIBA America's tournament this August.
Assuming he doesn't injure himself, the experience can only be a good thing for San Antonio's young backup PG. He also participated in the Vegas Summer League, averaging 10.3 points on 38.9 percent shooting, with 4.5 assists per game.

Tue Apr 16 201301:01Joseph posts solid line in fill-in duty
Cory Joseph started at point guard with Tony Parker and others out on Monday, scoring 10 points on 4-of-11 shooting with six rebounds, eight assists and one steal in 33 minutes.
If the gang stays out in the season finale, Joseph could be serviceable for owners in need of point guard assistance.
