Sun Jan 30 201121:34Emeka Okafor out with strained left hip
Emeka Okafor left Sunday's game with a strained left hip and will not return.
The Hornets' center has played in 306 consecutive games and will certainly do his best to return quickly, but there are no guarantees for Tuesday's game vs. the Wizards. Hopefully we'll hear some positive news early on Monday.

Sun Jan 30 201121:12Okafor leaves with left hip/side injury
Emeka Okafor gingerly exited Sunday's game with an apparent injury to his left hip or side. He will not return.
The early impression is that he pulled or strained a muscle, but we should have more information soon. Aaron Gray is still nursing a high ankle sprain and the Hornets have minimal frontcourt depth, so hopefully it's not serious. David Andersen and Jason Smith will split center duties in his absence.
Fri Jan 21 201123:12Okafor cools off in Friday's win
Emeka Okafor had just four points, 12 rebounds and zero blocks in Friday's cakewalk over the Hawks.
He came in pretty hot, but never got it going tonight. He's having possibly his best season as a pro, and just had an off night against the centerless Hawks.
Mon Jan 17 201120:47Okafor sets franchise record for boards
Emeka Okafor set the Hornets' franchise record for offensive rebounds with 12 on Monday, and finished with 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting with 16 rebounds total to go with one block.
If you're punting free throw percentage or in a league in which it doesn't hurt you, he is providing middle-round value and appears to be improving by the game. In standard eight-cat leagues, however, he plummets to 10th round value thanks to his 54% free throw shooting.
Sat Jan 8 201101:13Okafor double-dobules in loss to Lakers
Emeka Okafor had 13 points, 13 rebounds, a steal and two blocks in Friday's loss to the Lakers.
Okafor's not the most exciting player to own in the league, but he's been a very effective fantasy center this season.
Sun Dec 26 201022:21Okafor gets 14 & 15
Emeka Okafor continued his comeback season on Sunday, getting 14 points and 15 rebounds against the Hawks.
He didn't have a block, but this is actually--wait for it--four straight double-doubles for Emeka. His free throw shooting will always be a huge drag on his overall value, but as long as he's healthy he will be an elite source of boards, blocks, and FG%.
Wed Dec 22 201023:44Okafpr continues strong play.
Emeka Okafor continues to play well, getting 21 points and 10 rebounds Wednesday against the Nets.
He has been playing great lately, if you can handle his free throw percentage. Chris Paul has a knack for making average centers look good, and that trend is continuing this year with Okafor. He's not that consistent, but he's rolling now and should be plugged in.
Tue Dec 21 201004:18Okafor goes for 19 and 15 in loss to IND
Emeka Okafor dominated Roy Hibbert and scored 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting with 15 rebounds, one assist, two steals, and three blocks in one of his best games of the year on Monday against the Pacers.
Unfortunately, his effort came up short as Mike Dunleavy's last-second tip sent them away with their six straight road loss. Chris Paul was outplayed by former backup Darren Collison and ended up with 15 points, four rebounds, four assists, and six turnovers in the loss.
Sat Nov 6 201000:23Emeka Okafor goes off for 26 & 13
Emeka Okafor hit 12-of-13 shots for a season high 26 points, 13 rebounds and a block against Joel Anthony, Chris Bosh and the Heat on Friday.
If this wasn't Okafor's best game ever, we'd like to know what was. Bosh looks clueless for the Heat, while Okafor obviously took advantage of Anthony tonight.
Thu Nov 4 201000:46Okafor goes for 15 & 9, 5 blocks
Emeka Okafor had 15 points, nine rebounds and five blocks in Wednesday's win.
If he was somehow dropped in your league, and we've seen him on some waiver wires after a bad opening night, go get him.
Sat Oct 30 201011:04Okafor gets involved in Hornets' offense
Hornets coach Monty Williams ran some plays designed for Emeka Okafor to get shot attempts on Friday -- Okafor responded with 13 points, eight rebounds, and four blocks.
Okafor hadn't attempted a shot in Wednesday's game, the first time that's happened in his NBA career. That was clearly abnormal and owners should still view Okafor as a solid #2 fantasy C.

Sat Oct 30 201000:44Okafor shoots, scores for New Orleans
Emeka Okafor, who didn't attempt a shot in his first game, had 13 points, eight rebounds and four blocks on Friday.
If he was foolishly dropped in your league, grab him. He's not a dominant big man, but is capable of doing this every night out. Just beware of the poor free throw percentage that comes with owning him.
Thu Oct 28 201001:09Okafor held scoreless
Emeka Okafor had zero points (on zero shot attempts), nine rebounds and zero blocks in Wednesday's win over the Bucks.
Okafor played 25 minutes and was not injured. It's a fluke that he didn't even take a shot, as we'd expect somewhere around 8-10 ppg going forward. Keep Okafor going for his shot-blocking and rebounding.
Wed Oct 20 201014:46Okafor sits on Wednesday as well
Emeka Okafor sat out a third straight preseason game on Wednesday.
He reportedly sat out Monday's game so that Monty Williams could get a look at some other big men on the roster, but there has yet to be any word if he sat out the other two games for the same reason. As of now we're assuming he's fine, but we'll pass along any updates as soon as we hear them. Either way, Okafor shouldn't be picked before the later rounds of fantasy drafts.
Mon Oct 18 201019:59Okafor to sit to give minutes to other bigs
Emeka Okafor did not play in Tuesday's preseason game so coach Monty Williams could take a look at some other big men.
This sheds some light on Saturday's absence, though we'd like to see Okafor play in at least one preseason game before we declare him 100 percent for Opening Night. For now, though, we'll accept Williams' word at face value that Okafor is not injured.

Sun Oct 17 201003:51Okafor does not play on Saturday vs. Hawks
Emeka Okafor did not play in Saturday's preseason game against the Hawks for undisclosed reasons.
None of the sources that cover the Hornets reported anything about his whereabouts, and it's our guess that if he was injured we would have heard about it by now. Aaron Gray started in his place and predictably had two points, one rebound, and one assist in 17 minutes.

Thu Oct 14 201001:23Okafor goes 15 & 7 in win
Emeka Okafor had 15 points, seven rebounds, two steals and zero blocks on Wednesday.
Okafor is still worth a look as a No. 1 fantasy center and should be better than this once the regular season starts.
Tue Sep 7 201009:14Okafor to be bigger part of team?
New Hornets coach Monty Williams said that he expects Emeka Okafor to be a bigger part of the team on both ends this season.
Okafor's first year in New Orleans was not good. He averaged a career-lows in points (10.4) rebounds (9.1) and blocks (1.6). Look for a little bounce-back as he is now settled in with his new team and should have a healthy Chris Paul for the entire year. Okafor has played in 82 games for three straight years.

Sun Jul 25 201010:05Emeka Okafor stalling deals for Chris Paul
The Hornets would reportedly insist that Emeka Okafor be included in any blockbuster trade for Chris Paul.
Okafor has four years and $52 million left on his contract, which is prohibitive for most teams. He is a rugged and productive big man just entering his prime, but his skills don't justify $13 million per season.

Sun Apr 11 201023:00Okafor scores 23 points with seven boards
Emeka Okafor scored 23 points on 11-of-14 shooting with seven rebounds, no assists, a steal, and a block against the Wolves on Sunday.
After a year marked by fluctuations in production, he had started to become consistently mediocre over the two weeks. Given that reality, the maddening days of flip-flopping stat lines don't look so bad.
