Mon Jun 25 201212:07Okafor expecting to be healthy by mid-July
Emeka Okafor (knee) is expecting to be healthy by mid-July.
Okafor called his health "fine," and chalked up his knee injury as a result of the shortened season. His rehab has been a "progression," and Okafor called his injury "one of those wacky things that happened." It's good to hear that Okafor is almost over his knee injury, but the fact that it's taken so long is a tad concerning.

Sat Jun 23 201209:58Emeka Okafor expects to start for Wizards
Emeka Okafor said of his expected role with the Wizards, "I assume we would come in and play right away and start."
The 'we' refers to Okafor and Trevor Ariza. Okafor's skills are best suited for the C position, which would push Nene to PF, where he's comfortable but can be exploited by small lineups and/or the league's copious number of 'stretch-fours'.

Wed Jun 20 201214:51Emeka Okafor traded to Wizards
Emeka Okafor has been traded from the Hornets to the Wizards.
Okafor had a poor 2011-12 season which ended prematurely due to injuries -- it seems the Hornets didn't approve of his attitude or desire to get back on the court. Even at full health, Okafor faces competition for minutes in the Wizards' frontcourt, which already features Nene, Andray Blatche, Kevin Seraphin, Trevor Booker and Jan Vesely. If Blatche is traded or amnestied, Okafor's outlook would be considerably brighter.

Wed Jun 6 201219:55Report: Hornets looking to move Okafor, Ariza
The Hornets are reportedly interested in dealing the No. 10 pick, if they can get someone to take the contracts of veterans Emeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza.
This should not really be considered news, nor should the Hornets get their hopes up that they'll find any takers. After Okafor's injury-plagued season, he is looking more like a bust than ever, and Ariza, who had plenty of injury problems of his own last year, hasn't shot the ball particularly well since he left the Lakers.

Fri May 4 201218:52Okafor (knee) to be monitored before decision
The Hornets plan to monitor Emeka Okafor (knee) this summer before making a decision on what to do with the seven-year veteran.
Okafor will look to work his way back in his recovery from his knee injury, which the Hornets vaguely have termed a "sore left knee." If they don't like what they see, the team has the option of using their one-time amnesty clause to waive him to clear more salary-cap space. Okafor missed 39 games this season because of the injury and is owed $28 million over the next two seasons.

Wed Apr 25 201208:15Emeka Okafor to do some drills next month
Emeka Okafor (knee) is expected to participate in some offseason drills next month.
We still don't know exactly what Okafor is dealing with, as the Hornets continue to call it just a "sore left knee." There has been previous speculation that he could be released via the amnesty clause, but the Hornets will likely explore the trade market thoroughly for him before considering the amnesty route.

Fri Apr 20 201208:22Emeka Okafor a candidate for amnesty clause
Emeka Okafor could be an amnesty clause candidate in the offseason.
Okafor is owed $28 million over the next two seasons, and it's going to be beyond difficult for New Orleans to find a taker for that contract. He's missed 36 games to date with a "sore knee," and he's expected to be out for the remainder of the season. Trevor Ariza, who has not played for seven straight games, could also be a candidate for the clause.

Wed Apr 18 201207:00Emeka Okafor done for the season
Emeka Okafor (knee) and Chris Kaman (tibia) are both expected to miss the remainder of the season.
Kaman is no surprise after it was revealed on Tuesday that he has a bruised tibia, and this news brings closure to Okafor's strange season. The big man hasn't played since February 10 with what is continually described as simply knee soreness. There is no reason to own either Okafor or Kaman in any fantasy format at this point. Okafor finishes the season with averages of 9.9 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.0 blocks.

Wed Apr 11 201219:05Monty: Emeka Okafor (knee) out for the year?
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Hornets head coach Monty Williams said that he sees no reason to bring back Emeka Okafor (knee) this season.
If he is indeed shut down for the year, Okafor ends the season averaging 9.9 ppg 7.9 rpg and 1.0 bpg. He is safe to cut in even the deepest of leagues.

Wed Apr 11 201212:09Emeka Okafor's status remains up in air
When asked if Emeka Okafor (knee) would be shut down for the season, Monty Williams said "I'm not sure."
Williams added that he'll have to speak with the training staff to get a better idea, but we're not expecting Okafor back anytime soon. He hasn't played since February 10 and the Hornets have been cryptic at best when providing updates on his condition. Chris Kaman is locked in as the starter.

Thu Mar 22 201209:20There is still no timetable for Emeka Okafor
Emeka Okafor (knee) is still without a timetable to return.
We noted two days ago that Okafor didn't have a timetable, and the fact that the team is still stressing that stance just two days later is awfully concerning. Okafor has sat out 19 straight games but offered just "when you get injured, you have to make sure you take care of it." The updates on his condition and exactly what he's dealing with have been cryptic at best, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him shut down at some point if he doesn't show some sign of improvement soon.

Tue Mar 20 201208:03Emeka Okafor still without a timetable
Emeka Okafor (knee) still has no timetable for his return.
The Hornets have provided very little detail or updates on Okafor's knee injury, but he remains sidelined with what is being called a "sore left knee" and has missed 18 straight games because of it. It wouldn't be surprising to see Okafor shut down for the season before long, and owners still holding onto him should look to move on for a hot free agent during this pivotal time of the fantasy season.

Thu Mar 15 201218:22No timetable on Emeka Okafor
There is still no timetable on a return for Emeka Okafor (knee).
The cryptic Hornets have described Okafor's knee injury as "strange" and he still has swelling even though he hasn't played in nearly five weeks. With the team at 10-33, we wouldn't be surprised to see Okafor simply get shut down.

Thu Mar 15 201209:01New Orleans trying to deal Emeka Okafor
The New Orleans Hornets "have been trying" to trade Emeka Okafor and have also "listed to offers" for Trevor Ariza.
It's not a surprise for either player. We've heard that both players are very available, but the league-owned have been lofty in what the team seeks in return, so it remains to be seen if either one is dealt. Okafor is currently dealing with a knee injury and is owed $28 million beyond the current season, while Ariza has approximately $15 million owed to him over the next two seasons. With teams reluctant to take on salary, the Hornets have a lot of work to do in order to find a home for either.

Tue Mar 13 201206:54Emeka Okafor cryptic about his knee injury
Emeka Okafor (knee) was cryptic when discussing his injury.
Okafor is getting additional tests done on the knee, and after the team provided no details on the extent of his injury, neither did the veteran big man. "It's going to take time," he said. "It's a sore knee, has a little swelling. It's going to take more time. I'd rather not get into specifics about what happened." Those are not encouraging comments, and Okafor admitted that although he already had the knee drained once, the swelling still exists. It doesn't sound as if he's close to a return.

Sat Mar 3 201220:21Emeka Okafor's knee injury a minor mystery
There is no timetable for Emeka Okafor's return from his knee injury, which Monty Williams described as a "strange situation."
Okafor has missed 10 consecutive games. According to Williams, "[Okafor] is a different guy when it comes to his body. I don't even want to get into all that. He and [the Hornets' trainer] are trying to get on the same page as far as making sure he's healthy before he gets back out there again." Interpret that however you will. But keep in mind that prior to the injury Okafor was only returning 13th-round value in nine-cat leagues.

Sat Mar 3 201219:22Okafor, Smith, Landry all out again for NOH
Emeka Okafor (knee), Jason Smith (concussion) and Carl Landry (knee) have all been ruled out for the Hornets on Saturday.
All three players should be considered 'out indefinitely' for fantasy purposes, as there are no clear timetables for their returns. Trevor Ariza (illness) is a game-time decision.
