Stephenson (toe) will not play Friday against the Hawks, KL Chouinard of Hawks.com reports.

Stephenson, who has been in and out of the rotation over the past couple of weeks, will sit out his second straight game after spraining his toe against the Heat on Tuesday. Gerald Henderson and P.J. Hairston should each pick up some extra minutes in Stephenson's absence.

Stephenson sprained a toe on his right foot against the Heat on Tuesday, and he'll miss Wednesday's game as a result. The mercurial guard has been in and out of the rotation over the past two weeks, but he logged 20 minutes Tuesday, scoring eight points on 3-of-9 shooting.

Stephenson was hit with another DNP-CD on Wednesday, and the Charlotte Observer reports that coach Steve Clifford is unable to find a lineup that works with Stephenson.

Clifford noted that he was a strong advocate of the Hornets signing Stephenson this offseason, but he all but admitted that the idea has backfired. "Lance is here because of me. I'm the one that wanted Lance," Clifford said. "It's simply that I can't find a group that plays well when he's out there." Stephenson has now sat out the last two games, and it remains to be seen how, of if, he'll be used over the final handful of regular season games.

Stephenson scored 17 points (6-13 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 5-6 FT) in 24 minutes off the bench Monday.

The Hornets were out of the game before they got into the locker room at the end of the first half, so their second unit, including Stephenson, got some extra run in the blowout loss. It was his best scoring night since early December, and for the most part he remains an after-thought in the Charlotte offense.

Stephenson scored 11 points (5-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT) with eight rebounds and four assists in 24 minutes off the bench Friday.

He looked a little like his old abrasive, versatile self in the second half of Friday's win over the Raptors, but Stephenson's bench role puts a definite ceiling on his fantasy value, and with Kemba Walker (knee) getting healthier there will likely be even fewer minutes available for Stephenson in the rotation once Walker returns to action.

Stephenson was held scoreless on just one field goal attempt Tuesday against the Pistons. In 20 minutes, he contributed three rebounds and four assists, but also committed four fouls and five turnovers.

It's rare for Stephenson to have such a timid game offensively, as he averages a shade over 10 field attempts per game this season. He hasn't worked his way into the starting lineup since returning from a pelvic injury in January, but usually sees a good amount of time on the floor. Still, he's a middling fantasy option at best right now.

Stephenson intends to play Saturday at Philadelphia, despite dealing with tendinitis in his left knee, the Charlotte Observer reports.

There's still some question regarding Stephenson's availability, but he seems poised to take the court Saturday. After failing to score in 20 minutes on Jan. 28, he's averaged 7.7 points (on 34 percent shooting), 6.3 assists, 3.3 rebounds, one steal, and one three-pointer in 27 minutes over the past three games.

Stephenson is dealing with left knee tendinitis, making him questionable for Saturday's game in Philadelphia.

While his shooting percentages are still hideous, Stephenson has handled a significant role off the Charlotte bench since returning from a pelvis injury in mid-January. With the team lacking playmakers in Kemba Walker's absence, Stephenson continues to get 20-to-30 minutes per game, and he's looked a bit better over the last few contests. If he can't play Sunday, the Hornets will likely use some combination of Gary Neal, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and P.J. Hairston to fill the minutes.

Stephenson had a career-high 13 assists Saturday against Denver, which made up for his four points on 2-of-10 shooting. He also added five rebounds and two steals in 30 minutes on the floor.

Stephenson's 30 minutes were the most he's played since returning from a pelvic injury and his 13 assists were a career-high. His shooting should improve as he rounds into form, but his contributions in other categories are encouraging. It remains to be seen when he'll crack the starting lineup, but he has been averaging a solid 25.4 minutes over his last five games.

Stephenson will continue to come off the bench against the Cavaliers on Friday, Ethan J. Skolnick of Turner Sports reports.

Stephenson came off the bench again Monday and had eight points, nine assists, and four rebounds over 27 minutes of playing time.

Stephenson has seen a bump in minutes in each of his three games since returning to the rotation. He was just 2-for-9 from the floor against the Timberwolves, but he'll improve that percentage as he gets back into a rhythm. His next chances to crack the starting lineup are Wednesday against Miami and Friday against Cleveland.

Stephenson bowled over former teammate Roy Hibbert at the two had words. This may result in some sort of penalty for the former Pacer. Despite being limited to 20 minutes, Stephenson was very active and should continue to be all over the court as his minutes increase.

Stephenson will remain on a minutes limit Saturday against the Pacers, the Indianapolis Star reports. Coach Steve Clifford said of Stephenson, "We'll let him play as many minutes as he can play well."

In his return to the floor Wednesday, Stephenson mustered 18 minutes, during which he tallied eight points (3-8 FG, 2-6 FT), two assists, and one rebound. Expect the Hornets to exercise caution with his return, meaning he's likely to experience only a slight bump in his workload, at best.
