Indiana coach Frank Vogel praised Stephenson, who spent four campaigns with the Pacers before bolting to Charlotte last season. Stephenson faced his former mates for the first time since he joined the Clippers. "He's got a real chance to really help them," Vogel said. "I love the kid. He's got a great competitor spirit. His image is inaccurate of not being a good locker room guy and all of that stuff. Our guys really liked him, and our coaching staff really liked him."

Stephenson is dealing with pubic bone inflammation, and while he was not limited at Thursday's practice, the Clippers have not yet decided whether he'll be available Friday. With nearly a month until the regular season begins, the ailment should not impact Stephenson's fantasy value.

Stephenson has been diagnosed with Ostitis Pubis, Melissa Rohlin of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The condition is essentially an inflammation in the pubic bone, which translates similar to shin splints. Stephenson is expected to play in practice and will most likely be ready for pre-season action.

Stephenson will likely be used with the second unit this season, the Orange County Register's Dan Woike reports.

Coach Doc Rivers also said that the team will be careful with Stephenson initially after he tweaked his hamstring a month or so ago. Still, he is a participant in training camp, and should be good to go for the start of the season. Given the Clippers' depth on the wing after the additions of Paul Pierce and Wesley Johnson, Stephenson will be in for a reduced role and will struggle to be viable in standard leagues.

Stephenson is slated to come off the bench for the Clippers next season, but if they don't add any other starting-caliber players, coach Doc Rivers said they would use Stephenson as a starter and consider him an upgrade, the Clippers' official site reports.

It's hard to imagine Stephenson being fantasy relevant on the Clippers next season unless their roster is shaken up considerably more. Austin Rivers will be an unrestricted free agent, but most people expect him to re-sign with the Clippers. Jamal Crawford's contract is not guaranteed, but at just $5.7 million next season, he's a steal, so the Clippers would likely only unload him if they can upgrade via a trade. Then, accounting for the fact that Chris Paul and Blake Griffin use a lot of possessions, it's hard to see a path on the Clippers' current roster where Stephenson could find enough possessions to be relevant in most standard leagues next season. Doc Rivers said he believes Stephenson can play three positions, so it's possible his versatility could lead to a surprising amount of minutes. If the team fails to sign a starting-caliber small forward, Stephenson's name is already on the waiting list.

The deal, which has been rumored since Monday afternoon, will rid the Hornets of Stephenson after the guard signed as a free agent last summer. While he's on an affordable contract, the mercurial Stephenson never appeared to find his niche in Charlotte, and he ended the season with averages of just 8.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 26.0 minutes. Stephenson shot a horrendous 17 percent from beyond the arc and was all but phased out of the rotation by season's end. He'll receive a fresh start with a Clippers team that was a game away from the Western Conference Finals, and in the process Los Angeles frees itself of Spencer Hawes' burdensome contract. Stephenson is under contract for $9 million next season, but his contract includes a team option for 2016-17.

Stephenson was very disappointing in the first year of his new contract with the Hornets, playing in just 61 games and finishing with averages of 8.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 26 minutes. He also shot a dreadful 17 percent from behind the arc and fell completely out of the rotation at times towards the end of the season.

Stephenson was one of the most highly touted free agents of the 2014 offseason after having a breakout 2013-14 season with Indiana. Unfortunately for himself and the Hornets, Stephenson could not live up to his previous season or what he was getting paid this season. This might have been a result of Stephenson missing 14 consecutive games early in the season with a pelvic sprain, but even when he was healthy, Stephenson just did not look like himself. It got to the point where Charlotte was doing everything they could to trade Stephenson, and while Brooklyn (Stephenson's hometown) seemed like a possible suitor at one point, nothing was ever finalized and he finished the season as a Hornet. Although he wasn't really much of a Hornet, as for the last two months of the season he averaged well under 20 minutes per game and was not a very significant piece of the team's rotation. Best case scenario for Stephenson is that this season was a humbling experience and he will look to prove his worth next season. At just 24-years old, he has shown a lot of promise and still has a lot of room to grow, but with only one guaranteed year left on his contract, he will have to make sure his game grows as quickly as possible.

Charlotte will sit all five of their injured players, including Stephenson, which is no surprise since this game means nothing for the Hornets. Stephenson will now head into an interesting off-season, as the team must decide what they want to do with a player they just signed, but struggled to use on the court.

Stephenson will miss a third straight game after he sprained his toe against Miami last week. His final opportunity to take the court this season will come Wednesday in Toronto.

Stephenson's next chance to get back onto the court will be against the Rockets on Monday. Although, his status for that game doesn't seem positive.
