Tue Aug 23 202212:41Josh Jung Thriving In Minors
Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung was the club's first-round pick in 2019 and has quickly earned the title of No. 1 prospect in the Texas system. A talented hitter with great bat-to-ball skills, Jung has nearly perfected his technique at the plate, allowing him to produce hits, improve his discipline, and hit for power. Although he may be a bat-first player, Jung's defense is quite impressive, too. The 24-year-old has a slick glove at the hot corner and pairs it up nicely with his strong arm. He has no trouble fielding sharp grounders or charging slow rollers, all before executing a strong and accurate throw across the diamond. Jung, who hits and throws right-handed, has played in just 18 games this season (and only 10 at Triple-A) due to injury. However, when he's on the field, he's on fire. Jung put on a show once again this past week, going 9-for-19 (.474) with three homers, two doubles, and 11 RBI over the course of his last six games. He continues to compete for a promotion to the major league club, and as soon as he gets that call, he'll be worth rostering in most leagues.

Thu Aug 18 202213:38Josh Jung Not Close To MLB Call-Up
Texas Rangers third base prospect Josh Jung's (shoulder) MLB debut is not imminent, according to interim manager Tony Beasley. The Rangers see Jung's current rehab stint as his spring training, and they want to make sure he's ready physically. The 24-year-old, who is the team's top prospect per MLB Pipeline, was on the verge of making the major league squad out of spring training earlier this year before tearing the labrum in his left shoulder. Still, Texas isn't going to rush him to the majors to close out the 2022 campaign. In 15 games in the Arizona Complex League and at Triple-A Round Rock, Jung has hit an impressive .333/.419/.833 with a 1.253 OPS, eight home runs, 20 RBI and 12 runs scored in 62 plate appearances. Whenever he does make his MLB debut, Jung will be attractive to fantasy managers in all leagues.

Tue Aug 9 202216:17Josh Jung Returning To Triple-A Tuesday
Texas Rangers No. 2 prospect, third baseman Josh Jung (shoulder), is expected to be activated from the 60-day injured list on Tuesday to join Triple-A Round Rock, and he's expected to play third base. The 24-year-old played eight games in the Arizona Complex League during his rehab assignment and went 6-for-25 with three home runs and five RBI. It's been a tough year for Jung, who was initially expected to open the regular season as the Rangers starting third baseman. He eventually required surgery to fix a torn left labrum, scrapping those plans. If he doesn't suffer any setbacks at Round Rock and plays well, there's certainly a chance he'll make his MLB debut for the Rangers later this season. The former eighth overall pick in 2019 would be worth a look in most fantasy formats for his power stroke alone.

Sat Jul 30 202211:21Josh Jung Homers In Second Rehab Game
Texas Rangers third base prospect Josh Jung (shoulder) homered in the Arizona Complex League on Friday in just his second minor league rehab game. Jung, the team's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is recovering from shoulder surgery in February. He looked ready to make his major league debut early this year after ending the 2021 season with a dominant effort at Triple-A Round Rock, where he hit .348 with nine home runs and a 1.088 OPS in 35 games. Jung's rehab is ahead of schedule, so if he doesn't encounter any setbacks along the way, he could return to Round Rock before the end of the minor league season.

Wed Jul 27 202214:53Josh Jung Starting Rehab Assignment Thursday
According to a tweet from The Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant, Texas Rangers third base prospect Josh Jung (shoulder) "will start DHing in Arizona Complex games on Thursday. Could start playing field in 10 days or so after a re-evaluation." Jung has yet to appear in a game at any level this season due to a shoulder injury, but he hit .326 with a .398 on-base percentage, 19 home runs and a pair of stolen bases in 342 plate appearances last season between Texas' Double-A and Triple-A affiliates. One of the sport's best position-player prospects, the 24-year-old is worth picking up now as a stash candidate if he's still available in dynasty or keeper leagues.

Wed Feb 23 202216:44Josh Jung Undergoes Surgery, Out Six Months
Texas Rangers third base prospect Josh Jung (shoulder) underwent surgery to fix a torn left labrum on Wednesday, and the rehab process suggests that he'll miss six months before he is ready to serve as a designated hitter. Jung finished the 2021 season as MLB Pipeline's No. 48 overall prospect and potentially could have debuted with the Rangers early in the 2022 season after slashing an impressive .326/.398/.592 with 19 home runs and 61 RBI in 78 games last year with Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock. The 24-year-old right-handed hitter is still one to keep an eye on in dynasty/keeper formats, but there's a pretty good chance that we won't see him in the big leagues now until 2023.

Fri Feb 18 202221:00Josh Jung Shut Down With Labral Strain
Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung (shoulder) has been shut down with left shoulder soreness and has been diagnosed with a left labral strain. There is no word on his timetable for treatment and recovery. Spring training has been delayed until at least March 5 with the league still in a lockout, so that will give Jung a little extra time to heal, but there's no guarantee he'll be ready to go if/when spring training begins this year. The 24-year-old finished the 2021 season as MLB Pipeline's No. 48 overall prospect after hitting an impressive .326/.398/.592 with 19 home runs, 61 RBI and 54 runs in 78 games with Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock. It's notable that Jung's injury is to his non-throwing arm, but this could delay his development early in 2022.
