Athletics acquired INF Alberto Callaspo from the Angels in exchange for 2B Grant Green.
Callaspo will play second base in Oakland, a position he hasn't manned regularly since 2009. He's put up an underwhelming .253/.323/.348 with five homers and 35 RBI this season, though his career line of .273/.334/.380 is a bit better.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Athletics have acquired Alberto Callaspo.
The A's will send Grant Green to the Angels in the deal. With Josh Donaldson entrenched at third base in Oakland, Callaspo will handle second base even though he's played there sparingly in recent seasons. He entered Tuesday batting .253/.323/.348 with five homers and 35 RBI this season.

Callaspo didn't suffer any apparent injury, so it's possible he might be involved in a trade. CBS Sports' Danny Knobler reported earlier Tuesday that the Yankees have talked to the Angels about a trade involving the third baseman.

CBS Sports' Danny Knobler reports that the Yankees have "been in touch" with the Angels about Alberto Callaspo.
Callaspo is batting just .253/.323/.348 this season, but his OPS is actually more than 100 points higher than what the Yankees have got out of the third base position this season. He's making $4.1 million this season and is due $4.875 million in 2014.

Callaspo has gone 10 straight games without striking out, so he's putting the bat on the ball. It's just the ball isn't going anywhere after it leaves the bat. Maybe the Angels should try giving Tommy Field a few starts at third and see if they can catch lightning in a bottle.

Alberto Callaspo went 2-for-4 with two runs scored in the Angels' win over the Mariners on Wednesday.
Callaspo scored twice and drove in two runs, and he's now got a .277/.330/.415 line. Against the odds, he's been one of the Angels' better hitters thus far, and he's been finding his way into the lineup more often in recent weeks.
